Excellent!

Comments: Thank you for having 2 switches because just 2 bulbs is enough light for my 30x18x10. I love how I can use this light for my next bigger aquarium too. My only issue was with the acrylic lens cover, it was cut a little to small and it fell out when I turned the fixture over. 5of5

Excellent!

Comments: I ordered the 4 bulb 48" fixture for my 55 gallon reef which replaced a home built 24" fixture with a 250 watt metal hailde and 4 55 watt pc's. Obviosly the light I had was, although in conformity with the watts per gallon theory, too small. The Tek Light made a tremendous difference. The only problem I have with it is the "cable" suspension I ordered is really nothing more then string and is a pain to adjust properly. I probably would get the stand off mount if I had to do it over again. I did have a string of LEDs which I fashioned along the back edge of the light with cable ties and they work well for a moonlight effect. Overall I am pleased. I ordered a combination of 2 Giesemann Actinic+, 1 Aquablue+, and 1 ATI Purple+. The bulbs arrived in perfect condition from half way across the country. Product does now include a splash shield.

Great!

Comments: I'm really happy with my Tek light! My corals are loving it too. I would like to put in a couple strips of led moon lights, but there doesn't really seem to be any room for them anywhere on the fixture.

Comments: I purchased this 156W version to replace my 96W PC. The first thing I noticed when I unwrapped this was how nice and sleek the fixture was. The design is is awesome. I purchased the mounting brackets, they were quite easy to install.
<br />
<br />When I finally plugged in the T-5s, the first thing I did was only turn on 2 of the tubes. At 78W, these were already producing more light than the 96W PC I was replacing. When I turned on all 4....man, this thing rocks!! The only customizing I am going to do is to make a 'skirt' for the light so that my living room isn't overwhelmed with all the light coming from the Tek light. Essentially, all I am going to do is get some sheet metal of the right height, spray coat it black and fix it to both the front and back of the fixture to make a mini-hood.
<br />
<br />Fantastic light, no noise, nice look...awesome.

"Great light" - Product Review by Koua Thao (Posted on 2/24/11)

Comments: This is a great light, I bought a few that was used and performance was good. only because the reflectors are dirty from salt. I decided to buy this new one because of the price and I got tired of picking up after others stuff. I like to take care of my things, which led me to this purchase. if you want to grown corals, this is the cheap way to go without draining to the bank. 8 bulb 48" is plenty for a 120 fatboy. I do recommend using the spash guard and over a glass canopy to keep the reflectors at mint condition. I strongly believe that it does perform better even if bulbs are old vs new bulbs with dirty reflector.

"There have been some changes.." - Product Review by Jeremy Mclenithan (Posted on 2/23/11)

Great!

Comments: The manufacturer changed a couple of things about this fixture. It now comes with a splash shield. They also changed the reflector. The older model came with individual reflectors. This one has a single reflector made in a vvvvv design. Sunlight Supply says their reflector has been improved. I guess only time will tell. Overall this is still one of the best fixtures on the market. I traded out my Current Sundial for this fixture. There is only one thing I would add to this fixture...lunar lights. I added my own to complete the fixture.

Excellent!

Comments: Excellent , WELL BUILT fixture. I debated purchasing cheaper units but was glad I bought this.Other "60" inch units sold here are actually eight 48" lamps. Be very careful not to purchase those. You will have a dead spot in the center of a 72" aquarium. I build the fixture in my canopy and its silent and cooler than 4) 24" compact florescents I had previously.I no longer have problems with the tank raising temp much above 79.6 degrees after 6 hours of use and temp set to 78 degrees.Excellent product. You wont be sorry.BTW, website did an excellent job packaging the bulbs. Cost an extra $21.00 BUT WORTH IT.

Comments: This product is just great!!! The amount of light it's emitting is unbelievable! I've purchased a 4x54W for my 55g coral reef tank and the corals are loving it. But I do have a question. My fixture came with an acrylic shield, but I'm not sure whether to use it or not. The acrylic glass blocks the UV B light which is needed for corals. Does anyone have any info on that?

"Simply Stunning!" - Product Review by Robert Brannock (Posted on 8/4/10)
Rating
Excellent!

Comments: I was running a Current Nova Extreme Pro 48 inch model over my 60 inch tank. I was always looking for a 60 inch fixture to put over my tank to reduce the shadowing effect cast by my 48 inch model, so once I found this model with a reasonable price I had to try it out.
<br />
<br />I bought the fixture, as well as 8 80 w Geisseman bulbs to run in the fixture, the tank mounting kit and the splash guard. I must say first and foremost, the fixture with the bulbs are AMAZING! My tank looks much more natural and all my corals are exhibiting amazing color differences and polyp extension. I only have a few minor complaints about the fixture and they are as follows:
<br />
<br />1. If you have any hang on equipment such as skimmers, filters, etc the 8 bulb model is too wide and hangs over the tank about 1 inch. If you are running everything in your sump it has no issues.
<br />
<br />2. The splash guard was 1/2 inch to long and not square. I will have to cut the extra 1/2 inch off to make it fit in the fixture.
<br />
<br />3. The mounting kit was a bit of a hassle to mount and make secure on the tank but I think I got it now.
<br />
<br />With those MINOR complaints I would 110% recommend this product to anyone and everyone. It is well built, very quiet, and makes the tank look surreal! I love it!

"36" T5 Fixture" - Product Review by Michael E Johnson (Posted on 7/2/10)

Great!

Comments: I just received my T5 Fixture. Had a little trouble turning in the smaller T5 bulbs (not much room for thumbs and forfingers) but other than that, this thing makes huge amounts of light. It's light, vented for heat, highly reflective and has two on/off switches for easy light control. Well made. I like it.

"BRIGHT!!!!!!" - Product Review by Eddie Lardell (Posted on 5/4/10)

Excellent!

Comments: This light illuminates my whole room, and the 4 or 2 light switches is perfect for simulating Dawn and Dusk. So either this light systems works great or its the bulbs. I am using D-D Giesemann 3 pure actinic and 3 midday. I am just starting back up my tank but it looks great.

"Well made" - Product Review by Glendon Luettgerodt (Posted on 4/6/10)

Excellent!

Comments: I bought the 48" x 4 unit, and am extremely happy with it. Low profile, and very little heat output. Built solid, the entire body is aluminum, no cheap plastic parts to warp or crack. Almost all the light goes into the tank, instead of into your room. After testing different combo's, I ended up with up with 1 true actinic + 1 6500 daylight, and 2 10K bulbs. I use seperate timers, and have the actinic and 6500 on one, and the 10K's on the other. This way I can give somewhat of a dusk/dawn effect before kicking on the full set.
<br />I would recommend getting the tank brackets, and also the splash shield if you don't have a lid on your tank.

"36" x 6 bulb Tek Light" - Product Review by Diana Hiles (Posted on 2/6/10)
Rating
Great!

Comments: My tank is a 65 gallon breeder tank, 36"x24"x18". I have a freswater planted aquarium with community fish. I replaced my JBJ 96W double power compact light with the 36" 6 bulb T5 Tek Light. I use a CO2 tank and Eheim's Liquidoser for daily fertilization. I have seen phenominal growth with my plants. One of my aponogeton bulbs has been flowering like crazy! I would definitely recommend this light. One demerit however. I do not use a glass canopy as I want 100% of usable light spectrum. As the Tek light does not ship with a protective bulb cover (available for an additional charge) I wish the company had constructed the bulb sockets with the 3 piece moisture proof sockets. I would be willing to pay a little extra for the convenience of an "open water" style vs. a closed water unit.

Comments: Very pleased with the fixture. As a novice I didn't understand that additional kits were needed to place on tank that would have been helpful.

<br />When I called back customer service was very helpful with adding the items I needed and answering my questions.

Comments: 6 54 watt 48" fixture looks great over the 90 gallon. Fits in the canopy just right and with individual reflectors with each bulb the tank is very bright.
<br />
<br />One of the only fixtures I could find with individual reflectors at a reasonable price!

Comments:
<br />I have this on my 95 gallon freshwater fully planted and it works great. Good quality product. Doesn't come with any chains or legs of course so plan for that when mounting. Two separate cords and two separate switches that work two bulbs each. I work mine on my timer for varying light outputs.

Excellent!

Comments: I have a 36"X 36"X 27" tank, I put this fixture on along with a 4 bulb unit a total of 10 39W bulbs. The bulbs I used are the D-D Giesemann 6 Actinic+ (VERY BLUE) and 4 Aquablue (they are white with UV) the tank looks like 1 10K and 2 20K metal Halide Lights are on it without the heat! I don't give 5 stars to anything and I did to this.

Comments: First time using this product line, and I am extremely pleased with the quality of the Tek Light.
<br />The Tek Light is very well engineered. I placed this unit in a canopy and it's design still allowed plenty of room for for my auto feeders and the ability to work under the light with no problems.

Excellent!

Comments: Beware: This fixture can bleach your sps! it's VERY intense. be sure to use a good combination of high PAR and actinic/pink bulbs so that you don't have too high of a PAR. Power consumption is low and wouldn't throw the breaker like the dual 250W HQI halide sometimes did. T5's allow you to fine tune colour to your own personal taste

Comments: Thanks for helping us in deciding to purchase this light system. The corals seem to be loving it already. It makes better sense than halides for us, with less heat build up, and less strain on our electric bill. This set up seems like the right one for a 120 gallon. Thanks again........

Excellent!

Comments: Excellent craftmanship. Easy to mount directly or with hooks (provided). Very low profile and low wattage for less evaporation. Suggest that Tek light provide a tool to twist in the lamps with. And when ordering, ask the customer what type of lamps they want. The "Bulbs not included" note is not very noticable on the web page. Otherwise a very good product so far.
