65W 12000K (12K) Actinic White Power Compact Bulb - Straight Pin, UVL Information

Do you want to look at your aquarium and feel like you`re really looking into the ocean? You can do this with the right lighting. The 12000K (12K) Actinic White Power Compact Bulb - Straight Pin, UVL from Pet Store can help you with that. This lighting unit includes two different-colored bulbs that emit the right combination of light that is highly beneficial to your aquarium`s inhabitants. The 12K bulb produces bright white light that has the same characteristics as real sunlight. The full-spectrum rays contain the necessary ultraviolet component that plants need for photosynthesis and fish and corals use for their daily functions.

The super actinic bulb gives off a beautiful blue color that simulates the glow of the moon underwater. The blue spectrum rays it emits helps in improving the color of your fish, plants, and corals. It also sets the nocturnal atmosphere that corals and some plants need to perform processes that they only do at night. The 12000K (12K) Actinic White Power Compact Bulb - Straight Pin, UVL comes in the classic European straight pin style, which prioritizes functionality above aesthetics. This set can last from 6 to 12 months, within which you will notice your fish become livelier and more vibrant, your aquatic plants greener, and your corals healthier and brilliant. Get the 12000K (12K) Actinic White Power Compact Bulb - Straight Pin, UVL today!

Excellent!

Comments: These lights have good look to the eye, my corals haven't died yet. I will be curious to see if my BTA likes them as well. Would be nice to accent with LED's.

"Very Bright" - Product Review by Timothy Englehart (Posted on 1/11/12)

Great!

Comments: The light is good and meets my needs for a 75g coral & fish aquarium. I ordered the 65W Actinic White 12000K/420nm Super Actinic, Dual Color but there doesn't seem to be any dual color to it, mainly bright white. I prefer the blue color as it really brings out the color in the coral rather than washing it out with white and I miss the tranquility of the blue. Now I have to wait for the LEDs to come on before I can truly see the great colors. Overall, the lights work well for the price and I'll make sure to order blue next time.

Comments: I haven't had the bulbs long enough to make an informed decision. I am also a very new beginner at this hobby, so what do I know, right. I would like to say the bulbs are great so far. I would also add that one bulb was damaged on arrival, despite the awesome packing job. I have had contact with customer service and a replacement was shipped immediately. fast friendly thank you .

Great!

Comments: These 50/50 bulbs have the perfect mix of color with brightness. I have a 4 Actinic bulb 48" T5 fixture on the back and a 4 bulb coralife fixture with 2 420's (back row) and 2 of these 420/10K 50/50's in the front row. This combination gives me a nice bright natural look in front with a purple hue in the middle and a deep blue in the back of the tank. Very realistic depth look on one of my 90g as if you were underwater. I like how it breaks up the colors and doesn't have everything under the same tone.

Comments: I got these for 9.99 each. I had bulbs that were old and besides rustingin the plug the bulbs have dimmed over time. when I plugged these in the lights were 3 times as bright. I just wish the actinic only was on sale but this was a great buy to hold me over until i get into led's.

Comments: The performence is not as the true actnic but is very good option if mix with some 50/50 to get some of the brthness of it. Overall the coral accepted very well but you have to get used to, to the new look of the tank especial when the actnic are in use only.

Comments: I have only had the bulbs no more than a few days so I can't comment on longevity. But the color is great! All of my local stores only carried the blue bulbs so I had to order online. They were even cheaper than the blue bulbs in the store. The colors on my fish just stand out It's not a stark white but the colormax gives a softer more natural light.

Comments: My first replacement for my Coral Life light - noticed a dramatic improvement as my original bulbs were 1 year old. Fish and coral are reacting very well to the new bulbs. They did an excellent job packaging the bulbs - with the price I am always concerned but after opening the box and seeing all the packing materials used, I had no doubt that I made the right choice both in price and quality. Will definetly come back again for all my future needs.

"Should be longer." - Product Review by Remy Horanzy (Posted on 1/1/09)
Rating

Comments: The quality and performance of the Blue Life SPS 10000K Power Compact is what one would expect from a similar product. My problem with them is how they seem to have "Cheaped Out" on the length. The bulbs I removed were 2 inches longer each which has resulted in a net loss of length of 4 inches placed end to end. The ends of my 6 foot long tank are noticeably dimmer and I'm not diggin' it. My next bulbs will be different.

Comments: It had been about one year since the light fixture was purchased with lights installed. The corals were starting to look a bit drab. A friend told me to get a new bulb. I did and the replacement was a breeze. Took about 5 minutes. The tank looks like a brand new one now. The corals and fish have perked up quite a bit. My wife and I love the difference and are planning on replacing the bulb about once a year now.

The help from Marine Depot was great. They helped me figure out what to get just from a telephone call. Delivery was fast also. I will be using them again.

"Superior to PFO" - Product Review by Mark S Luttrell (Posted on 9/27/07)
Rating
Excellent!

Comments: Initially I ordered PFO dual ballast. PFO ballast was a bit smaller and had one electrical plug. Coralife was slightly larger and had two plugs. I preferred configuration and dimensions of the PFO, so I ordered it. Mistake. The PFO connects were very pliable rubber and flimsy. I could not get the bulbs to enjoy a snug fit, despite securing cables to the top of my canopy to avoid pull. In two days, a bulb came loose, began smoking, and burnt the connector. If one were not inclined to secure the cables to his canopy, or apply rubber bulb holders to the bulb itself, I would hate to think what would happen when the thing came loose and fell in the water - or just smoked until it touched something that would catch fire...As usual, you guys offered unparalleled customer service, sending me a return shipping label and a Coralife replacement ballast. The Coralife has far better connections. In addition, it has a unique plastic connector that secures the bulb to the connector. All in all, you are just buying a powercompact light. Don't overthink it. Get something safe!!!!

Comments: Coralife Actinic 03 bulbs tend to have more of a pinkish/purple tint to them than I prefer. I tried to remedy the situation by combining both a 50/50 10000k and Actinic 03 bulb with a 50/50 Deep Blue and Actinic 03 bulb and the color is much more pleasing.

Comments: If you're looking for new bulbs than I'm assuming your corals are starting to dive. The colormax bulb really brought out my softies. I had some zoos that got a baby blue ring in them that never existed before. Even though these fall highly into the white spectrum, you will still see your colors "flouresce" with these bulbs. Anyone that wants an overall bluer color should find a different spectrum.. these bulbs do a very good job at providing white light and still have the color properties of actinics.

Comments: I like this bulb over the 10000K in smaller tanks, especially nanos. Yes, it is a little more green/yellow then the white/blue of the 10000K, but with a duel antinic running with it, you see no difference. I also find the growth of my corals to be much faster then under the 10000K.

Excellent!

Comments: I've got a Coralife Power Compact retro kit on my 75 gallon semi-reef tank (2 65W actinic and 2 65W 10000K daylight bulbs). They have always been good bulbs and have been consistently reliable. I've tried cheaper no name brand bulbs before and have had issues with them. The set I just replaced consisted of two Coralife 10000K and two no name Actinic's. The no names worked but the ends started to come off and were pulling away from the main body of the bulb something that has never happened with the Coralife.
The only issue that I have had with the Coralife is that they fit really snug in the endcaps and after a year or so when it's time to replace them they can be a real bear to get off.
Also I just want to add that I switched to Marine Depot from another well known mail order fish place that I had been doing business with for years because the one time I actually needed some help in the selection of a new pump their customer service was horrible, (I never could get anyone to help me). Called Marine Depot and they were Johnny on the spot with customer service and knowledgeable advice and I've been doing all my mail order business with them ever since.
