CPR AquaFuge 2 Hang-on Refugium Information

Product Manuals & Documentation

With the CPR Aquafuge 2 Hang-On Refugium from Pet Store, you can now enjoy the full benefits of a skimmer, a refugium, and a powerhead in one cleaning device. It now comes in a small size that works just as powerful as the big ones. Plus, it provides you more space to install other aquarium maintenance equipment.

The CPR Aquafuge 2 Hang-On Refugium is built with a powerhead that allows the skimmers and refugium to filter through the water without affecting your fish. This will prevent your pets from experiencing any undeserved trauma while the tank is being cleaned.

While the powerhead is at work, the skimmers and filters clear the water from the presence of both tangible and non-tangible particles and bring them to a collection cup, where they will await disposal. The refugium, on the other hand, is tasked to lower the toxicity level, as well as to maintain the pH level to an appropriate level.

The CPR Aquafuge 2 Hang-On Refugium is great for beginners and amateur aquarists because it includes all the basics on how to take care of one's aquarium water. It doesn't matter what type of water your fish thrive in. This device will definitely take care of your friends.

Say hello to a pleasant, non-space-consuming, clean, and green aquarium with the CPR Aquafuge 2 Hang-on Refugium.

CPR`s AquaFuge2 hang-on refugiums come in three different sizes to meet the needs of marine aquarists.

Recently redesigned with a black acrylic backing to prevent light from transfering to the main aquarium, each model comes with a powerhead and features a unique baffle system. This prevents the substrate and organisms from being disturbed yet also allows enough water to flow through the eliminate any stagnant areas.

The AquaFuge2 provides ideal growth conditions for food items, such as copepods and ampipods, to feed invertebrates and fish in the main tank.

It provides a controlled growing area for macroalgae, which can be used to reduce "nuisance" algae in the main tank and provided a "nursery" area for a variety of organisms.

In 2011, a new outlet tray was added to improve the water return system.

**Please Note: The AquaFuge 2 does not come with a light fixture, although lighting is needed to meet the needs of your refugium inhabitants. Click here for CPR Lighting Options.

Comments: Used in combination with the CPR cyclone wet/dry complete package, you don't have to worry about the sump overflowing if the electric goes out. The water doesn't fill the sump after the tanks drain! The added light with acrylic stand really makes the refugium glow like the moon. I use aragonite reef sand, and rock frags to get the moonlike reflection.

Comments: Ok I don't usually give reviews but I had to for this one. First of all the quality on the HOB refugium is top notch, the set up was a breeze. It took me 5 minutes and I am a beginner in this hobby. I did extensive research about refugium and came to a decision to buy this one thanks in part to NewYorkSteelo from YouTube. I saw that he uses it and gave it really high marks. So far this thing is amazing. I am using this with Fiji Mud on bottom, rubble rock on top and some chaetomorphia algae for a 25 gallon reef tank. Wow, no disturbance of the mud and water is crystal clear. This tank is on my bedroom and the refugium is very very very quiet. No one knows I have a reef tank in my bedroom unless I tell them, yes it's that quiet. The package was overpacked thanks to marinedepot. It was packed so well I thought I was getting a mini fridge lol. I am extremely happy I got this refugium but even more happy I got from marinedepot.com

Quick and easy HOB

Comments: This is my second HOB refugium. My first was a Reef Octopus model that was similar. It had a pipe on the outflow and was entirely clear plastic. The result was constant overflowing of the refugium, a horrible sucking/slurping sound, and light bleed through to the main display. The supply piping had a hard plumbed connection for a very specific pump, and he HOB refugium came with the pump, the problem was it was not adjustable until customer support sent me a valve to install. Even then it took weeks to get it fully functional. Not the case with the CPR Aquafuge2. My only concern was how weak the pump to fuge connection felt, but I compensated for that by tie-wrapping the power cord to the inlet piping so the pump's weight is getting support. No danger of overflowing with the outlet design, and power losses are something that you never have to worry about because of that outlet. I bought the medium and I put my heater in it as well, so it cleared up my main display area quite abit. I also use the area on the internal refugium inlet side to put a bag of chemipure elite and removed my Fluval 206 canister filter entirely as the included RIO pump has about the same flow rate as the Fluval. I can't say enough good things about this HOB refugium.

Comments: Im a beginner when it comes to refugiums but intermediate on the fish tanks. The refugium was well packaged and set up was really easy. It did not come with how to instruction but it is so simple and easy u dont need any instructions.it throws out micro bubbles at first like they said it would, but its only been 3 days now sence I hung it and tye bubbles have reduced very much. I do recomend u rince it like they ask, i believe that helped alot. I also got light to refugium and have to block the light with cardboard at night from shineing its light into display tank. I reccomend you buy something that helps with that. The clack background is great. I painted the out side back of my 55 gallon tank back with 3 coats of black paint that also helps. I would recomend this product to my friens. Its alot easier and more inexpensive then the under cabinet refugium. 4 stars.

Comments: I'm fairly new to the hobby, and this product is amazing prior to using the aquafuge 2 on my 20 gallon reef I ran a hob filter with live rock and chemi pure. When adding the refugium and macro algae my nitrate lowered significantly and I see less nuisance hair algae in my display. I recommend getting the miracle mud with this as it seems to help in coral growth as well. Really high quality product and I would buy it again

Comments: I love this HOB addition to my nano tank, and the miracle mud I ordered with it makes it that much better. Within 1 week of adding this to my tank my coral's grew faster and were brighter. Having this as a gravity feed back into the tank has a HUGE diffrence on the pods in my tank and my 3 little fishies are much happier now too. Really great system and I wish I had it 1 & 1/2 years ago.

Very Nice Unit

Comments: Recieved a very nicely built, medium sized refugium. Only negative point was the impossibly tight fit from the pump adapter to the refugium intake. A bit of fine sandpaper applied to the adapter end which goes to the refugium did the trick, providing a snug, secure, but still movable fit. Teamed it up with a Finnex ML-1836, swapped the included 10k daylight bulb for a Coralife 50/50, added Cheato, 5 lbs of Miracle Mud and some rubble from my LFS and it was 'good to go', easy setup, runs silently.

Comments: I ordered the small but mine looks different from the pic, which was almost a problem on my 12gal aquapod. My cpr came with a outlet like a normal hob filter, so it a flat plate that directs water into the tank instead of a pipe as pictured. I was hoping for the pipe so I could extend and route it over my 4" rear filter area and into the tank, but thats not possible now. It just feeds into and pulls from the filter area.. not sure thats as efficient as could be, and the 12" heater I put in the inlet section has to work harder to keep the tank at 80, which probably overheats the hob as a result. Its quality made and looks nice. I see how it could break if full and you didnt support it properly from the bottom. I bought a light that clips to the side but it sits too high and lights my tank at night (when I want to run the cpr to balance levels at night). I plan to ditch that and find some sort of low profile led that will shoot into the tank from the side. I also plan to make a top for it because I'm losing more evaporated water than I did before. The rio pump that came with it is garbage, and rattled like crazy as soon as you lessen the flow. I decided to ditch it all together and I split off my main filter pump with a "y" adapter and fed it into the cpr (which needs low flow anyway). This saves power, clutter and keeps my tank quiet. The flow knob is also quite hard to turn and not confidence inspiring when placing it into the inlet tube. It feels like its going to break, but I've been careful and its ok. Overall I'm happy with it, but it is a bit overpriced.
