I have not had this product long enough to judge its performance in the tank, but the can I recieved had pieces of plastic bag in it and some weird pebbles. This leads me to think maybe this is not the best quality control? Though I am saying I would recommend this to a friend I would also have to issue a warning about cleanliness.

This stuff is so worth the wait. I have read a lot of bad reviews but I think this stuff is awesome if you are patient enough to wait for it to completely cycle.
It is messy at first but once it settles, it's great. After only a month the water quality is perfection and we even had a spawning of thousands of what look to be copopods; we can't tell for sure because they are so tiny. :-)
Again, worth the wait if you can be patient long enough.

i use this in my fuge but it has down sides u cant breed any thing with a shell it such as shrimp because of the iodine does not let them turn into adults unabling them to breed but if fuge is only used for filtering not breeding great product

It appears to be working as it should. The only problem I've had with this is it clouds up easily.

Well, not sure if it's working, but pretty simple I used about an inch of mineral mud and inch of live sand on top. This is my first time using this product. It did leave my water a little cloudy. That went away within a matter of 3days.
