Nitrates are natural occurring organic chemicals, they for one can exist in any environment even the extreme ones. Of course, seas and oceans are part of this environment. Natural occurring nitrogen are detoxified and dissolved by nitrifying bacteria. This process neutralizes the amount of nitrogen (by converting them to nitrate) in the sea keeping balance intact. However, for salt water aquariums, the accumulation of nitrates can pose some serious dangers to your pet fish. Fishes are not known to have high tolerance for nitrates and exposure to too much can kill them.
Now, do you ever wish that you could detect the excess nitrate content in your salt water aquarium? Now you can with Elos Aqua Test Kit from Pet Store!
This product is designed to precisely measure the amount of nitrate in your aquarium. The product is equipped with RealColor technology which accurately calibrates the amount of nitrate in your fish tank. The product comes with a color chart that compares the reagents of nitrate content. It warns the user that nitrates are already accumulating in the aquarium. Aside from this, the product comes with its own nitrogen removing chemicals in precisely measured droppers.
The product is surely safe and effective and won’t harm any of your salt water pets. Aside from this, the product is definitely affordable. So what are you waiting for? Buy this product now!
ELOS AQUA TEST KIT- NITRATE
The Biological filtration is a method that uses naturally occurring nitrifying bacteria to detoxify nitrogenous wastes. One type of bacteria (Nitrosomonas spp.) converts ammonia to nitrite while another naturally occurring bacterium (Nitrobacter spp.) converts the nitrite into a far less harmful form of nitrogen waste: nitrate.
Nitrate is the final stage of the nitrification process. Many invertebrates, unlike fish, are not tolerable to high nitrate concentrations. As a result, it is extremely important to make sure that nitrate levels do not reach high levels. In freshwater aquaria the optimal level of Nitrate should be below 20 mg/l (ppm). Values of over 75 mg/l (ppm) should be avoided at all costs. In reef marine aquarium their level should not exceed 20 mg/l (ppm). A level of 10 mg/l (ppm) is the maximum for reef aquariums.
For these reasons the periodical testing of nitrate in the aquarium water should be considered especially during the aquarium set-up and periodically to avoid high level inside the water of our aquaria. Our kit allows the determination of the Nitrate level within a range of 5 – 75 mg/L (ppm).
ELOS AquaTest NO3, as well as all the other colorimetric test kit of this line, grant very high precision thanks to several procedures like the use of “RealColor” technology, an accurate system to calibrate the color chart compared to the reagents; the validation of each reagent with NIST (National Institute of Standard and Technology) certified samples and the careful stock management to supply to our customers ONLY the freshest production batch.
Easy reading: “RealColor” technology.
High precision: thanks to the use of calibrated droppers
NIST validation: each batch of elos reagents are validated using NIST (National Institute of Standard and Technology) samples
"Safe reagents": reagents and testing procedures are based on Low Risk Reagents. None of our test kits are based on Toxic Reagents.
Note: if the NO3 value is too high, we recommend a partial water change. Periodical checks on water quality can help to pinpoint causes of deviations in NO3 value and can prevent fish and invertebrates being harmed.
ELOS: the ultimate supplements and equipments for marine and planted aquariums.

Let me save you

Similar fustrating color matching process where nothing matches. The vial is so frail it broke on me on my third test. It has left me willing to spend $100 on a professional test kit.

Better than average test kit
Posted: 10/14/2009 from NY USA
I enjoyed using this test kit and feel it is better than average vs. others in its category. The only thing I do not like about it is that it is still hard to differentiate the color variance when reading between readings. It is like most in that category unfortunately, but I would buy and use again.

never have trouble figuring out the colour but it's not low range enough. if you try to keep your nitrate below 1ppm it's not the kit to use.

Very Poor Product
This test, like the others made by Elos seem to give incorrect results, are way over priced, and the lids to the vials do not even fit properly so when they expect you to shake them for 5 full minutes, you end up with about half the water left in the vial you started with. My seachem test and API test showed I had 40ppm nitrates in my tank which I believe since I was starting to see Cyano and green hair algae yet this test showed 0 nitrates. The testing process is also much more of a pain than API and Seachem. I am very disappointed with this product and the entire Elos testing line.
