What a light!

First off, this is a great fixture for the money. Its a ton of light putting off more than 300 watts of power with all 8 lamps running at once. The two actinic moonlight strips are very powerful and a great way to move from day to night in the tank and to encourage coral spawning.
$500 may seem like a lot, but frankly if you bought three cheap t5 fixtures which I have done and had to replace one or two of them in 3 years, then this saves you money. The great thing about this is that its full coverage for a standard 75 gallon rectangle tank, and extends slightly over the sides, but not excessively. The quality of the fixture is good, but the mounts for the lens bolt down screws are
cheap quality and tend to break loose and spin in place. You may need to hold them with plyers to screw in and unscrew the lens that protects the bulbs from salt water. Not a big deal, as the rest is solid. You can even replace ballasts individually with this set up, so if one fails you wont lose all your light.
Draw back to this unit are: a ton of power cords, there are 6, one for each fixture and then one for the three fans that cool the unit. You have to run the fan according to the directions, and though they aren't noisy per se, be aware that if you want a silent tank this will take away from that. The unit puts off a lot of heat, but thanks to built in pendant mounts, you can hang it off the tank a few inches to keep temps in a reasonable range each day.
Worth the cash for sure, and considering this comes with 6 hamilton bulbs, you are really paying $380 for the fixture.

The lighting unit was very well packed with no chance of breakage. The hanging cables work very well and there is plenty of cable. I replaced the wood screws with bolts though. I have a tendency to overkill. Dont want it to fall. Im sure it would have been fine! Have only had it a couple of days but it works beautifully. Does not come with on/off switches. You will have to use timers. The only complaint is that the LED adapter was missing. Im sure they will take care of this though. Its a very nice unit and Im glad I bought it!
