FAQ
Q: How large of a pump can I plug into the A.T.O.?
A: The A.T.O. receptacle will handle pumps up to 2amp capacity.
Q: Can the Audible Alert be turned off?
A: Yes, it can be turned off if the "Speaker Buzzer" is removed from the circuit board.
Q: Why does my A.T.O. automatically shut off after a few minutes of operation even though the water level has not reached the float sensor?
A: All A.T.O. Controllers have a factory "Float Fail-Safe" duration time period of 3 minutes and 45 seconds of operation before power to the pump is turned off. The Pump LED will glow but power to the pump will not be turned on. This feature was designed to act as a safety mechanism in the unlikely event the float sensor(s) failed or if something was to get stuck in between the sensor(s). You will have to reset the float sensor(s) to restart the controller.
Q: Can I adjust the "Float Fail-Safe" duration time period?
A: Yes, the duration time can be extended to 14 minutes of operation. (Please see instructions below on adjustment.)
How to Adjust the "Float Fail-Safe" Time Duration

Use a Phillips screwdriver and turn the dial COUNTER CLOCKWISE until it locks. This setting will give a operation mode time of approximately 14 minutes or until correct water level is reached. |

I live in a desert area and my tank can lose up to a gallon of water a day due to evaporation so when I leave town for several days I need something to refill the evaporated water. I did some searching and found this product. I had a problem with a flaky connector on one of the sensors. It wasn't making a proper connection and when I came back from my 2 week trip the tank never got filled. Luckily I covered the tank as much as possible so it didn't lose enough water to kill my fish. I called tech support and they were very helpful. They said it was a bad sensor and they would replace it for free as it is under warranty.
The plastic accessories they provide for mounting the sensors didn't completely work for me. The clips were cheap and didn't fit my tank. I had to cut off their plastic clip and use a clamp I bought at Home Depot.
I also use this even when I am in town. I don't have to keep adding water every few days and it keeps the salinity level more constant.
This or something like it is a must if you have evaporation issues.
Hopefully the new sensor will fix my flaky connection problem.

hooked this unit to my 30 gallon sump with 10 gallon water supply easy to hookup easy to set height for sump.put a timer on the pump only fills once a day when i'm around.very simple and worth every dime I paid.

I'd give it 5 stars if the sensor wire was longer - my reserve is 8' away so the sensor wire will not reach for the preferred setup where you have the pump protection in case of a low water level.

I have owned two of these. They work great. Only odd thing is there is no ON/OFF switch. If the water runs dry it will stay on ruining your pump. I have to run over and yank the cord out of the outlet. Over time I feel that this hard start/stop causes damage. Hence why I have purchased the second one.

Great on time shipping as usual. My ATO has been running for a few days now and i must say it is a piece om mind knowing that the evaporation is taking care of. This is a must buy for all tanks if you dont already have one :-)

I love the fact that it tops off my water for me automatically! I have had to make sure that my pumps are clean and will come on, and my setting (due to pump strength) had to be so that the upper and lower limit are both in my sump, but otherwise - I love that it's automatic and I don't keep bubbling my tank!
