Little Giant - 2-MDQX-SC Inline Pump Information

Product Manuals & Documentation

Pump big volumes of water using the Little Giant 2-MDQX-SC Inline Pump from Pet Store. Powered by a thermally protected motor and a magnetic drive, this pump can generate water quickly with a flow rate of 770 gallons per hour. It is equipped with connections measuring one inch FNPT inlet and a one inch MNPT outlet each. The head of the pump is around eight feet.

The Little Giant 2-MDQX-SC Inline Pump is meant for circulation and filtration purposes of your tank, and it is ideal for free flowing aquarium devices, such as direct aquarium return system devices, wet or dry filters, and other similar devices. It can only be operated in-line, and it is not ideal for water submersion. It amazingly draws water fats and yet operates quietly and runs with minimal heat exchange. This is convenient to use indoors because it does not cause unnecessary disturbance.

The Little Giant 2-MDQX-SC Inline Pump is UL-listed and CSA-certified, and it is, therefore, guaranteed to be durable, effective, and safe to use. It is specially designed to withstand sea salt and other mild corrosive substances placed in your aquarium.

The Little Giant 2-MDQX-SC Inline Pump comes with six inches of power cord that is compatible with a three-pronged plug that fits regular electric outlets.

Aquarium series magnetic drive pumps are specially designed to handle mildly corrosive chemicals like sea salt and handle circulation and filtration applications. The motors are thermally protected and the pumps are UL listed and CSA certified.

Manufacturer Info

The origins of Little Giant date back to 1941, with the world`s first "self-contained electric motor-driven submersible pump". Called "a submersible vaporizer," this unique, patented pump design became the cornerstone for hundreds of different pump models Little Giant Pump Company manufactures and ships worldwide today. In fact, derivatives of that basic "self-contained electric motor-driven submersible pump" have become the standard for quality and reliability in water transfer applications throughout the world.

Oil it!

Comments: I've had two of these units fail, because I used the WRONG OIL. It requires regular applications of a few drops of SAE 20 weight MOTOR oil. I was using good ol' 3-in-1. My engineer friend tells me (too late) that 3-in-1 lubricating oil (which I've used on my bike chain for years) contains detergents, which eventually freeze the bearings. After installing a replacement, I applied generous quantities of 20 wt oil (also available in the 3-in-1 brand) to the frozen motor, and with some coaxing, got the old unit running perfectly again. Now I have a backup.

Comments: I purchased this pump because some review said it was quiet and reliable . it is feeding my 60 gallon cube from my basement sump room. It is not running hot at all I started up with all MFG directions with pump primed, ok until after 3 days of running now it is very loud . I have a Reeflo Barracuda that has been running for 2 years now and pumps thru my 310 gallon system, quiet as a mouse, with much greater flow . This pump needs to be swapped out!!1 very dissatisfied with noise level.

Comments: I have owned two little giant pumps. the ceramic bushings and superb mag drive ensure long lasting, reliable operation. These pumps run quietly and are durable with minimum maintenance...oil 2x per year. My first pump worked 10+years. With new bushings,it will perform many years more. A sure bet

Comments: I want to report that I have 2 of these pumps as recirc pumps on my 120 mixed reef. Yes they are my closed loop recirc pumps. I hate wires and bulky power heads. These were hard piped through bulkheads in the back of the tank then equiped with Vortec flow accelerators. My tank has all the current that a reef could want. They are pluuged into 2 individual times that allowed me to program on and off times for random times at high flow and calm waters in the night hours. It is not a wavebox but I get a much longer suspension in the water column than anything else I have ever seen. Random and swirling colissions of each stream offer me such a varied flow that my torches and hammers are never being swept the same direction. Little Giant.... it is JUST THAT !

Comments: Just passed 6 years with this being my return pump, 17' between reef and sump. This pump is powerful, quiet, and doesn't clog if something gets sucked in (remember it's in line between sump and tank). Just keep the yellow buttons at the top oiled every month and this pump is a work horse!!!!!!!!

Comments: The product functions great and was surprisingly more compact than i had expected. Though I wish I would have bought a slightly more powerful one, that was my fault. Like I said, GREAT product none the less!
