A successful coral reef aquarium depends on how well you maintain the water parameters which are the key to a stable coral environment. All of the elements found in natural seawater play a role in providing optimal water parameters, but some are more significant than others. These elements, the foundation of the reef environment, include the three major elements: Calcium (Ca), Magnesium (Mg) and Carbonates (CO3). All three have a major effect on water chemistry (pH stability, Alkalinity, ionic strength) and on many of the coral’s biological processes (skeleton formation, ions exchange, photosynthesis).
The foundation elements complement each other in the formation of coral skeleton. If not balanced correctly one of the elements will quickly limit healthy coral growth.
The Reef Colors program Provides the minor and trace elements that are taken up by the coral skeleton and soft tissue and are essential for SPS corals to display their natural colors. Reef Colors A is an Iodine/Halogens complex that promote the Pink colors in corals.
Reef Color A: A complex of halogens (Iodine, Bromine and Fluorine). The halogens act both as antioxidants and oxidative agents within the soft tissue and mucus layer of corals, reducing the possibility of coral bleaching. In active reef systems, these elements are depleted quickly due to their high oxidative abilities and reactivity with organic materials. Iodine and bromine are related to the pink chromo-protein (pocciloporin)

Handy dosing chart and cup

Good product. I like that it isn't just iodide or iodide with 500 other things. The dosing chart on the back is handy to avoid doing much math. You will need to know how many liters your tank is though, as it lists by liters not gallons. The measuring cup that comes with it is also very handy. The concentration is very workable for a mid-size tank (30-100 gallons say) resulting in easily measured doses. That said it would be expensive to dose a large tank with, and more the issue in my case, the measurements can get tedious for a nano; my 14 gallon for example needs just 0.5 mL a week.
Normally I put a medicine dosing cork in the neck of my supplements and measure them with a syringe for this tank because that is the easiest way to get small accurate measurements. The neck of the bottle on this one is too large to use this method though. So I guess that would be my one recommended improvement for it.
