Seachem Laboratories SeaGel - 100mL Information

SeaGel? is a blend of MatrixCarbon? and PhosGuard?. MatrixCarbon? is an ultracapacity carbon for the removal of organic and color impurities. PhosGuard? is a powerful remover of phosphate, silicate, toxic metals, and acids. Both components are bead shaped for optimum water flow characteristics and penetration. The components enhance each other and are ideal for reef and marine use. May also be used in freshwater that is not phosphate buffered. This product is sold by volume. Cited weight is minimal weight.

DIRECTIONS: Use 100 mL for each 100 L (25 US gallons). Rinse in freshwater before use. Use caution, since product will fizz and heat on initial wetting. For best results, SeaGel? should be placed so as to maximize the flow of water through it. It may be used in a canister filter, chemical filtration module, box filter, or any high flow area of a trickle filter. SeaGel? will function 3?4 months. May also be used in freshwater that is not phosphate buffered.

  • i100 mL bagged (Treats 100 L (25 US Gallons))

Comments: This is the best stuff. I have had this in my sump, in a bag that sits right below where the water falls from the bubble trap into my refugium. I have had this bag there for 3 months and I am still reading 0 nitrates and 0 phosphates. It is also allot cheaper than the stuff I was using with better results.

Comments: I started using this product in a small bio reactor and contained it so it does not tumble so the carbon does not erode. Flow through the reactor is great since pellets are spherical. I use a smaller amount than I would in a bag and change it more often. My water is clear and odorless since using this product. The ratio of the phosphorus absorbing pellets to Matrix Carbon is 1:1. For my purposes i would prefer to have a higher percentage of carbon. In the future I may buy each separately and make my own mix.

Comments: I have a 240 gal. Reef system. It has been set up for 1.5 years and I was beginning to have a serious Nitrate issue. I tried to fight it using aggressive water changes and siphoning of the sand bed, nothing worked until I added 1L of SeaGel in 2 filter socks in my sump. This cured the problem in a few hours. No detectable Nitrates.

Comments: Been using this stuff for years. But you must change it monthly. Phosphate remover contains aluminum oxidixe, once full will leach. Other than that good stuff, just know how to use it.
