Training Collars & Harnesses
Dog training collars are a bit different than standard dog collars since their primary purpose is to help the owner shape the dog’s behavior. Typically a dog training collar is only used during training and removed or replaced with a standard collar. Some types of training collars can actually be harmful to dogs if they are left on and unsupervised. Slip collars, also known as choke chains, are used to make a dog get into the heel position. Prong collars, commonly referred to as pinch collars, are great for teaching a dog not to pull during walks. Martingale collars are a limited-closure choke chain combined with a standard collar. They are the preferred collar of many kennels and animal shelters because of their no-slip design and limited neck constriction.
