American Marine Pinpoint Sensor (for Wireless Thermometer) Information

Fish, corals, and other forms of aquatic life thrive in certain temperatures. Thus, it`s important to keep water temperature at a constant. Fluctuations, especially over a long period of time, should be prevented as much as possible.

To help you keep track of the temperature of your fish tanks, use the American Marine Pinpoint Sensor which works with wireless thermometers. Together, they work to monitor the changes in temperature and let you know all about them.

Each sensor has a waterproof tip that can measure temperature of liquids such as water. Once it dipped in the water, the data is then sent to the display monitor of a wireless thermometer. The display monitor flashes the temperature level in bright, LED display, usually red to make it harder to miss.

The American Marine Pinpoint Sensor from Pet Store can be used with other sensors of the same kind with a wireless thermometer. The Pinpoint Wireless Thermometer, for example, can support up to four individual remote sensors so you can monitor four different locations at the same time. The display monitor will flash the temperature reading for all four locations for easy reference.

The American Marine Pinpoint Sensor can detect temperature from distances up to 100 feet, or roughly 30 meters.

American Marines Wireless Thermometer Sensor

Utilizing a radio wave signal, the remote sensor(s) will measure the temperature at the waterproof probe tip and send the information to the PINPOINT Temperature Display Monitor, which will display the temperature in Fº or Cº degrees. The PINPOINT Wireless Thermometer can accept a maximum of 4 remote sensors, thus expanding the monitoring capability to 4 different locations to be displayed on the same PINPOINT Temperature Display Monitor.
 • Given proper care, the PINPOINT Wireless Thermometer Sensor™ should last a lifetime.
 • Remote sensors can transmit temperature signals as far as 100 feet (30 Meters) to the thermometer in optimum conditions.
 • The monitor and remote sensor are powered by two AAA batteries each.
 • Monitor, sold separately, accepts up to four remote temperature sensors.
Pinpoint Wireless Remote Sensor is warranted to be free of defects in material and workmanship for a period of 30 days from date of sale.

American Marine Pinpoint Sensor (for Wireless Thermometer) Reviews

"Not Good" - Product Review by Kelly Crowell (Posted on 3/22/11)

Unsatisfactory

Comments: I bought 2 temp sensors.. One for outside and one to monitor the koi pond water temp. The one by the koi pond went bad after the first rain. Sent the unit back to vendor as instructed which was replaced with another unit with the exception of it costing me the postage to send it to pinpoint. The new temp sensor I received.. when it actually transmits to the recorder is 10 degrees off the temperature showing on a regular mercury thermometer. You might want to learn from my experience.

Comments: The design is good, but the functionality is weak. If you turn the receiver off, you have to reset all of the sensors. Plus, the receiver scans all four sensors regardless of how may are actually activated. Additionally, the receiver provides erroneous temperature readings on channels with no sensors activated. There is no way to turn off unused sensor channels.

However, the sensors are accurate and the receiver works as advertised.

I am not certain that I would recommend this item to anyone until the sensor scan and power off problems are corrected.

"Great thermometer" - Product Review by Kenneth Schroeder (Posted on 5/7/09)

Excellent!

Comments: I bought this unit to monitor the temperature in my koi pond with additional senders for my quarantine tank and hospital tank. This works great, I do not have to go outside to check the temperature but can do it from in the house. I monitor the temperature several times a day to compare the outside ambient temperature with what the tanks are doing. Our outside temperature here can rise and fall as much as 40 degrees or more in a single day. The unit seems very accurate and well worth the money.

Comments: Ordered the thermometer and one additional sensor. After few days one of the sensors malfunctioned - it started to report first 100F then HHH. Sent it to American Marine, received the replacement which acted exactly the same (could be the very same unit). Sent it again and received another replacement. Now I have two sensors sitting next to each other with the readings different by at least 1.5 degree and the difference varies.

Comments: I bought this because I couldn't find another outdoor wireless thermometer that I liked better. BUT I find the cycling between readouts of the two sensors I own to be problematic. Sometimes the display picks up a blank reading for a third sensor I don't have and it is necessary to turn the display off to correct this. I would recommend to my friends only with this caveat.

"Good thermometer" - Product Review by David Gness (Posted on 1/21/08)

Great!

Comments: Quality made, very accurate.
Two disappointments though.
The probe cord is not long enough unless you are going to put sensor on a platform right next to aquarium. It will not be long enough for a shelf typical(underneath)on retail tank stands. I had to velcro my sensor to side of my tank.
The probe wire also should have come with a suction cup attached like some of the other digital thermometers.
Other than that an excellent product.

Comments: Great service would recommend a longer probe length (10ft).

Excellent!

Comments: very accurate and well built transmitter assembly, long battery life (AAA batteries)since the transmitter only sends a signal when the temp changes 1/10 of a degree.
