The tweezers are a useful tool for the removal of hairy Algae. To prevent that the algae that have been plucked off from swim around in the aquarium, the tweezers are supplied with a hose connection for a 0.47" (12mm) hose. This can be connected to a canister filter – or used for a water change. The plucked off algae end up in the filter and cannot fix themselves elsewhere in the aquarium.

Comments: I should have listened to the previous review saying it didn't work. This is made of cheap plastic and it can't grip hair algae. Not even close. It is JUNK; a total waste of money.

<br />Fortunately, at the same time I bought this I also bought the Dissekt-Rite Specimen Forceps, 10 inches. That tool is available on this site too and it works brilliantly on hair algae as well as other odd jobs in the tank. It is very nice and much cheaper to boot.
