"Don't buy this" - Product Review by Jeremy Edwards (Posted on 6/6/10)

    Unsatisfactory

Comments: One of the most attractive dosers. A lot of people seem to hate the programing method for this dosers because it is not the norm, I love the programing method of it, I can dose every second, minute, hour , day or week if I chose to, simply by telling it dose x amount every 2 hours or 36 hours or 48 hours and so on, love the programing of it, everything else I hate the tubes last about 4 mounts no matter how much or little you use it and $20 a pop each, every pump even when set to identical times doses very deferent amounts, big problem with back syphon even with chick vales. Rotating wheels cracked after a year. Had mine for about 3 years and finally decided to give up on it. For the price I would have expected more. Don

Comments: I like this product well enough. If you want something to run in the middle of the night, you have to stay up until the middle of the night to start it since it doesn't use the clock, but uses intervals of time. I had to do this because one of the pumps is not air tight. So I have to fix this.

"good, but WARNING!!!" - Product Review by Timothy Shellans (Posted on 7/9/08)

Comments: The pumping mechanism is great and works perfectly, even for tiny doses (like 1 drop).

HOWEVER, I have a big problem with the design...the programming is ridiculous, I'm not even sure I want to keep the thing. It only allows you to program in "cycles," not by a clock. In other words, you can only have it dose, say, once per day, every hour, every half-hour, every 10 mins, every 5 hours...whatever "cycle" you want. IT WILL NOT LET YOU dose for only certain parts of the 24 hour day, say night-time. For example, I'd like to dose kalkwasser every hour from 10PM until 8AM, but there is no possible way to do this. If you think you can just set the whole system on a timer itself (so that it would only be powered at night), this won't work...the system resets after a power outage and you have to do a sort of soft reset (by pressing two buttons simultaneously) to have it start the programs again.

The pumping operation is a perfect answer for dosing, but due to the lack of programming ability, I don't recommend this product, you'll only get frustrated trying to figure out how to "time" things for a decent "cycle."

"Great, but use check valve!" - Product Review by Paul Rogers (Posted on 6/16/08)
    Rating
    Great!

Comments: I was ready to return this unit as useless until I finally noticed the Tips and Tricks section of the product page here on Marine Depot!

The manual doesn't tell you this: If you install the pump where it is above your source, you MUST use a check valve on the INPUT side (the manual shows the check valve on the output side). Without the check valve, the pump is never able to draw the additive up out of the reservoir, it just goes up one inch, then right back down, over and over.

So, it's not nearly as foolproof as the LitreMeter III I run on my other tank, but at less than half the price, I'd say it's worth the hassle factor. The physical build quality of this unit is impressive, better in fact than the much more expensive LitreMeter.

"what else do I need?" - Product Review by Adam Garfinkle (Posted on 5/5/08)

    Unsatisfactory

Comments: The product does not ship ready to use. I need to purchase tubing and manufacture some sort of bottle-hose connector in order to put the thing to use. Also, the directions are confusing and don't provide any dosing time to amount of dosing information. This is a product of Poland and the english translation of the directions/instructions is poor. The directions also state that the tubes will randomly wear out at some point and don't provide instructins on how to purchase new ones. Not what I expected for $230!

"TOO COMPLICATED 4 $" - Product Review by Bassel Maali (Posted on 8/25/07)

Comments: Mechanically it operates fine but the ease of understanding the display, programming and resetting the time cycles could be much better. Using it feels like I am an unqualified layman using a device specifically designed for and to be used by experts. It's not very consumer-friendly. When I press the wrong buttons to reset the unit the display flashes illegible numbers rapidly which requires unplugging and replugging the unit's power cord to the outlet.

"AM review" - Product Review by Maihua Yang (Posted on 8/15/07)

Comments: Does an ok job. The main problem is that the santoprene tubing keeps slipping out of the peristaltic wheel rendering it useless. Also the dosing is not quite accurate due to air bubbles backing up in the output tubing (tubing from the unit to your tank). This occurs when the doser is off. So the first few seconds of its on cycle, the unit is only pushing out air until liquid fills up the output tubing. I haven't tried the spectrapure liter meter but I have heard great reviews only.

    Excellent!

Comments: Besides figuring out the instructions this is a nice doser. Also, use a small UPS in case of power failure.

"Dosing Pump" - Product Review by Michael Pollay (Posted on 7/10/07)

    Excellent!

Comments: The aqua medic works extremely well when setup properly. Instructions are not the best but they have a help number which is useful. Can program pumps individually and deliver the volume based on elapsed time since pump is of one speed. In power failures you must restart but program remins intact in memory. Best pumping system I have ever used.
