"OK unless you use ozone"
- Product Review by Gary Anderson
(Posted on 9/6/12)

Comments: It's an o-ring. It holds the cup where it is supposed to be just fine. But, if you are using ozone, buna o-rings like this one will not last long. I bought 3 and in 3 weeks they had all broken. Go with a silicone o-ring if your system uses ozone.

"Buy several"
- Product Review by Eric Yeater

Comments: I usually buy three of these at a time, because even though I give them a light coating of petroleum jelly (per their instructions) they still only seem to last about 4-6 months before they break.
But they do the job.

"Doesn't last but cheap"
- Product Review by Brennan Mohring
(Posted on 2/6/09)

Comments: The ring that came with my aquac died of dry rot within only 3 months. I rigged up another way to adjust the collection cup using velcro but honestly I missed the ease and clean look of using the o-ring for adjustment so I ordered 3 more of these with an order I was already going to place. Consiter them disposable but at least they are cheap...

"It's an O-ring"
- Product Review by Scott Bayless
(Posted on 10/28/08)

Comments: What can I say, it's an O-ring. I purchased one of the original Remoras and it used a set screw to keep the collection cup in place. This O-ring works better, but they do wear out, especially since the corners on the collection cup are sharp. AquaC should shave the edges of the acrylic down so they aren't so sharp and don't wear on the rubber O-rings so much.

"Perfect replacement"
- Product Review by Derek Yamamoto
(Posted on 8/2/08)

Comments: Seems to be an exact replacement for the stock o-ring that comes with the Remora - it fit perfectly on the collection cup. It also appears to be sturdy and free of defects. Other than that, well, it's an o-ring. Not much to say about it.
This time I coated the ring with a small amount of petroleum jelly, as recommended by AquaC. Hopefully that'll prevent the ring from cracking (didn't do that with the original o-ring that came with my Remora.)

Comments: Seems stronger than the orginal O ring that shipped with the Remora protein skimmer. Had to stretch it a little first time you use it, but fits nice now.
