"Aqua C works!"
- Product Review by Mathew Do

Comments: I do not have a lot of experience with protien skimmers. That being said I'm very glad I purchased this skimmer. It seems to be a very "set it and forget it" kind of skimmer. It took about one day to break in(I rinsed it in warm water prior to installation) and it also quieted down a lot. It's no louder than my Ecoray 60 light now! I've heard people say this skimmer does not work but they are most likely using it incorrectly. Very user friendly and easy to use with great quality. I would absolutely recommend this skimmer to anyone, especially a beginner like myself.

"Very effective little skimmer"

Comments: Having kept fish only and reef tanks since 1986, my opinion is simply that when it comes to a hang on the back skimmers, Remora tops them all in performance. Always abit noisey during the breakin period, but they quiet down after a few days of running, the external mounting provides added room in my sump and the skimmer does a fine job of producing a heavy, dark skimmate when properly adjusted. As this Remora is being run as supplimental filtration on a 70 gallon frag tank, it handles the bioload without a problem.

Comments: Very Happy with my new skimmer. Based on other reviews before purchase I was a little concerned about noise, break in period etc. At start up noise level acceptable. Now on fourth day noise has diminished to a quiet purr. MUCH lower than I had anticipated. Excited to say already producing a nice foam. Great product for price.

Comments: its a great unit, pumps tons of water at a high volume. The water quality is noticibly better after even the first day or two. The downside of this unit is that its loud - much louder than the cheezy protene skimmer I had picked up at Petsmart; but I guess it goes to show that even the best isnt perfect.
<br />I would buy one if you dont have one, just turn on some music to drown out the vibration noises coming from behind your tank!

"This thing is loud..."
- Product Review by Harry Brooks
(Posted on 11/26/11)

Comments: My AquaC Remora got here this past Monday. I write this on Saturday morning, five days after setting up the unit.
<br />
<br />Set up was simple. Fit the pieces together and plug it in. As the instructions directed, I rinsed the unit thoroughly with hot water. My unit came with a drain fitting. Starting the unit was postponed by one day, because I had to go to Home Depot to get some 1/2" vinyl tubing.
<br />
<br />The directions say to run the drain fitting tube back into the return - not to an external container. This, because the pump could pull a lot of water out very quickly. This gives me pause; if the skimmer is pulling out waste products, is it wise to drain the waste water back into the aquarium? I don't know the answer. Maybe if it pulls water that quickly it is not accumulating waste?
<br />
<br />Within 5 minutes, the unit was making foam. But after 1 hour of use, it stopped producing foam. It has not produced any at all in 5 days. I can see the bubbles inside the skimmer, but they are not thick enough and break down too fast to collect. I have adjusted the waste cup at all levels with the same result. Some reviews say it'll take a week or two before collecting skimmate. We'll see.
<br />
<br />Lastly, this thing is loud...very loud. I have he unit set up in the family room in a two story house. At night, I can hear the unit clearly from the master bedroom - up one story and on the complete opposite side of the house, In the evening, I have to turn it off - it is so loud, we can't watch the TV without cranking the sound to ridiculous levels. My hope is that it quiets down after a week or two - it is so loud, I wont use it if it does not quiet down. I've read about some mods that help with the noise, perhaps I'l try that.
<br />
<br />This review is likely premature. My hope is that in 2 weeks time, I have an excellent review. I removed one star for the loud operation and another star for the lacking directions.

"good skimmer but..."
- Product Review by Hyung J Yu
(Posted on 8/16/11)
-
Comments: The skimmer is built and performs well. Like many smaller skimmers it pulls up green water than brown. One big flaw with the skimmer is the location of the drain fitting - it sits on the "sweet spot" of the cup height adjustment range; therefor, I have found that it sits either too high or too low - this is not an issue with the "no drain fitting" option. I found a work-around by placing a small strip of wood between the rubber o ring and the skimmer, this allows me to place the cup heigh perfectly. I think the manufacturer can fix this issue by placing the drain fitting much higher on the cup, but this is a significant flaw in my opinion.

Comments: After several years of using what my LFS suggested as a protein skimmer, I was introduced to your AquaC Remora. I must say that this machine pulls out and produces more skimmate than I ever had over the past three years. I am very happy with the results and highly recommend this device.

"Aqua C Remora is excellent."
- Product Review by Lawrence Seldin
(Posted on 1/25/11)

Comments: This is my 3rd Aqua C Remora. I have the Aqua C Remora Pro on my larger tank and placed this on my Solana nano tank. I previously had on my nano tank, a Tunze 9002 which is considered top of the line for that style tank. That skimmer pulled in a lot, however, my new Aqua C Remora, started to pull in the same amount after only 1 day of use. What I did, was run it for 1 day, in vinegar water to break it in. Wow! Not only a great skimmer, but I purchased the drain plug, so no more having to frequently drain the cup.
<br />
<br />In addition, this skimmer, does not have to be cleaned often, as it still works very well when somewhat dirty.
<br />
<br />Since I have the drain feature, what I do weekly, is just use an old tooth brush, to clean inside the tube weekly, and drain the bottle that it drains to once a week, or less.
<br />
<br />I love this skimmer, because unlike the Tunze, it is set and forget, which means, when I travel, no one has to make adjustments, when I am gone.
<br />
<br />Awesome product!!!

Comments: This is a great skimmer, i actually have 2 hooked up to my tank, BUT i would recommend not buying it. I've had them running for a yeah and one has the preskimmer. They are ouder then i would like. For example, you can hear them over the phone while i am in front the tank. Also, they still produce a massive amount of micro bubbles.

Comments: Replaced a CPR Back Pack skimmer with the AquaC Remora and I must say it works great on my 30g system. Produces more foam than the CPR skimmer, and best of all, the Remora is a set it and forget it type skimmer. It took 2 weeks to fully break in so I advice those of you who decide to get it to be patient and wait it out. I gave it four stars because it is a bit noisy, although the noise has gone down quite a bit since it's break in. Then again, all hang on the back skimmers make some noise since we cannot hide the skimmer inside a cabinet. Initially, it will produce micro bubbles but this will also disappear as the skimmer breaks in. Very happy with my Remora.

"Good Buy"
- Product Review by Shane Thome
(Posted on 8/17/10)
-
Comments: I was very skeptical of this from the mixed reviews, listen to me, this is an excellent buy. if you buy the one that does not have the drain fitting you are wasting your money and you will only be the cause of your own demise. the first day or so it will pump a lot of water so put the drain hose right into the tank. after a week it skims dark green/brown sludge. a lot of people said it runs super loud and that was very true the first week, however now my flo pumps are louder than the suction. i dont have any insight on the other pump, i bought the MJ 1200, but thats my preferance, i trust MJ and they work great for me. If you are curious this is a great skimmer for the JBJ 28 gal nano cube however you must remove the plastic holder in the back(no big loss) like all skimmers the tank size is always way larger than what the skimmer can handle so i would not suggest this for anything larger than a 40 gal with an excellent clean up crew. I would say this is a must have if you own a nano cube.

Comments: I have a 55 gal tank with a built in wet/dry in the back so I needed some sort of hang on skimmer. After reading many reviews I picked the Remora hang on. This was a perfect match turns out as it does exactly what it's supposed to do - get rid of the waste before it has a chance to destroy the water conditions. Highly recommend the drain fitting so you can connect a tube, run it down underneath the tank into a bucket for all the waste to go.... otherwise you will be emptying the overflow cup everyday which would be annoying.

Comments: My previous skimmer was a seaclown, so this is a big step up for me. The skimmer has an acceptable noise level that is going down as stated in manual. It skims great and does not have the troublesome adjustments that some others have. Seems solid and good build quality. Easy product to recommend, good forum reviews. Using it on a 75g reef tank.

Comments: I added this to a 29 G Biocube which is mostly stocked with coral. It is SLOW to break in, but it is clear that it will be a good solution as soon as that break in cycle is done and I am done fine tuning it. Spend the extra couple of bucks and get the drain fitting, it will probably save you grief during the adjustment phase.

"Best Skimmer for its size"
- Product Review by Richard Tramont
(Posted on 2/22/10)
-
Comments: Installed this in a matter of minutes. I recommend getting the drain and the add-on box. After using an undersized Red Sea prism for a while, it only took a couple of days to break in and start pulling skim (my tank has been established for several years, recently added coral to Fish with live rock). I have heard some say this is loud at first - not for me, it is exceptionally quiet compared to the Prism. Also micro-bubbles gone after a couple days and using the add-on box with carbon and my water is crystal clear with greedy, hungry fish and coral.

"Aquard"
- Product Review by Derek Persson
(Posted on 2/17/10)

Comments: The fact that this company has been in business for so long and has yet to make their own pump is rather... strange? The fact that they haven't teamed with a manufacturer to use a standard brand that integrates with their product is rather... strange? I bring this up because of the hack job used to attach a pump to this product. Is it working as efficiently as it could? I highly doubt it. By using a standard pump AquaC could fine tune their product, instead they Frankenstein a third party pump, which makes you wonder is it all it can be? I want to like it, but it just feels like money is more important than efficiency, and if it were more efficient, I would recommend shelling out the money. Next time I will buy a skimmer that is designed to... work!

"Good skimmer"
- Product Review by Brian Nosich
(Posted on 12/31/09)
-
Comments: Noise is not bad at all with the paper towel or plastic baffle above the injection chamber. I was worried about it until I search the the noise baffle solution and now I'm very happy, it's only slightly louder then my whisper quiet Eheim canister. This is a great option if you cant afford the sump and you still want a tank to thrive. I don't worry about overfeeding now because I know that the skimmer will pull it out. The drain hole should come with a plug though. It doesn't so I had to make one for now until I get an additional overflow box set up. Still breaking it in so I can't say how the skimming quality goes but from all I've read I'm not really worried.

"Another great AquaC skimmer!"
- Product Review by James Edmonds
(Posted on 12/22/09)

Comments: I have used the AquaC EV-180 on a larger system, but have a smaller 30 gallon tank now, and had to get this Remora. This skimmer is great! The first few hours were a bit noisy, and small bubbles (aka "micro" bubbles) were common, but hang in there! After the break-in, it quiets down some (but it's still not quiet; I wish I could give dB data), and the bubbles go away, although I didn't find them disconcerting in the first place.

"Remora w/ 28g JBJ HQI"
- Product Review by Michael Morley
(Posted on 11/29/09)
-
Comments: Being familiar with the Aqua C Urchin in sump skimmer from a previous 80G reef tank, this time I purchased the Aqua C Remora w/ drain fitting and maxijet 1200 for the 28g JBJ nano HQI reef tank. The maxijet 1200 fits in the back, however while its probably a good decision anyway but I need to mention you will probably have to purchase a canister filter because that is the only way the pump will fit in the back where the 3 stage carbon, ceramic and sponge would normally go. (Important to have a phosphate remover so like I said the canister filter is the best way to go over the media box that comes with the tank)
<br />
<br />Aqua C makes a great skimmer both in (black acrylic construction and the way it works w/ the spray injection.... I am sure anyone will be completely satisfied with this purchase although I must admit I am a big fan of Aqua C products. drain fitting will make it easier for when you have to ask someone to take care of your tank while your away w/ a 2 liter bottle or a large container( previous experience .... friends forgot to clean he skimmer cup) PS Instructions state that the Aqua C auto waste collectors will not work with the remora or the urchin skimmers because unlike the EV120 and larger sizes etc, these skimmers are not pressurized.
<br />
<br />PS The pre skimmer box option will not fit in the JBJ HQI tank so the extra option wont work I hate to say ( learned the hard way)
<br />
<br />drain fitting requires half inch tubing for this skimmer (helpful hint)

"Great Skimmer"
- Product Review by Wayne Williams
(Posted on 11/25/09)

Comments: After looking at many skimmers and reading the reviews I decided to purchase the AquaC. I was a little skeptical about reading "How Loud This Skimmer Was" but took the plunge and I have really no idea what some people were talking about, especially if they had ever owned a Venturi pump driven skimmer. This skimmer is not only quiet, but from day one, it started skimming the junk out of the water. Sure you can here a little mixing action but that also means you know its working. The skimmer was also very easy to set up. I am running it on a JBJ Nanocube and am very happy with it.

"Great Skimmer!!!!"
- Product Review by Alan Breton
(Posted on 10/7/09)

Comments: This skimmer works great - it just takes about 5 days to start producing skim, but now it is doing an awesome job. I bought the filter box, that covers the power head, but I think it looks ugly and bulky. And you really have to watch your water level, if it goes too low the power head will run dry. So i am going to return it. I would def. recommend getting the version with the drain fitting, so you can run a hose from the skim collector to a bucket or 1 gallon jug. Awesome product!!

"great so far"
- Product Review by Andy Abramowitz
(Posted on 9/19/09)

Comments: I received my AquaC Remora w/Maxi-Jet 1200 with the drain plug a week ago The instructions stink!! All u have to do is add the 1200 to the skimmer (DO NOT PUT THE PARTS THAT COME WITH THE 1200 TOGETHER)The small piece of tubing (5/8" or 1/2") that is attached to the skimmer attaches right to the 1200 with the two clamps provided. Attach to the back of your aquarium and plug it on and it's done.
<br />It took two day after playing with the o-ring (thank god for the drain plug because when I can home from work I had about 1 gallon of water in the bucket!!) The instructions do not tell u where to position the o-ring I had it high up on the collection cup thus causing the near flood.
<br />The o-ring needs to be positioned just under the drain plug if u have one or towards the very bottom if u don't.
<br />The aquaC is pulling quite a bit of gunk from the tank and the water quality looks great. Is a bit noisy but tolerable.

"Started leaking"
- Product Review by Barrier Reef Depot
(Posted on 8/24/09)
-
Comments: This is a good skimmer. It removes some gunk after it breaks in. However, it started leaking from the bottom after a few months of use. I fixed the leak with a lot of reef silicone. Very easy to clean and maintain. It is very noisy. You can put a piece of plastic or a sponge on top of the spray nossle area, right under the collection cup. This reduces the noise by a good 60%. Its a little pricey for what you get. Do not use hot water to clean this thing. It will crack.

Comments: Awesome Awesome product, I could not be happier with this price and product. Hands down the best skimmer that I have ever owned, so easy to use. It is not too loud and sucks lots of dissolved organics and polutants out of the water consistently and quickly. Make sure to buy the surface skimmer(AC 3323), it keeps the surface crystal clear, therefore the tank is brighter and cleaner/clearer. The drain feature is a must, simply tip the collection container to the side and all of the dirty brown contents collected flows down the disposal tube to wherever you decide to drain it to so that you can dispose of it later. Easy to clean and Remora staff answered questions quickly and correctly when I called and got me back on track. I will sticking with Remora for all future skimmer needs, I love this product.

Comments: product didn't take long to put on, it would have been easier if the diagram showed the pump attached to the skimmer. Overall it's already skimming brown junk from the tank but is still a little loud(it's only been a week since I got it)The instructions did say it would get quieter and I am very sensitive to noise. I like the sleek design and it appears well made. I also requested the plug for the drain fitting and it was sent w/in the week for free :)

Comments: I have had this skimmer a week now and it has been amazing. I opted to get the drain fitting after all the issues others had with flooding. I have had nothing but a nice dark green/brown thick foam and a little over a full cup since in the first week. It has a clean sleek look that I love. It is not loud as I had others suggest and it has pulled out in a week what my previous skimmer did in a month. It was so easy to set up, just adjust the screws so it hangs flat and attatch the pump to the tube and plug it in. It takes less then 3 minutes to set up and that includes washing it to remove any shipping oils etc. I would recommend this 100x over.

Though the install instructions were vague, it was relatively easy to set up and worked right out of the package. I travel a great deal and really like the vent feature. I bought 4' of the appropriate size tubing and have it empty into a 1 gallon water jug so the cup will never overflow when I am out of town.

"Better but a little noisey."
- Product Review by Charles Gregory
(Posted on 8/18/08)

Comments: This was a replacement for a 4 year old skimmer that now made way too much noise. This makes less noise, more like white noise, but it does a better job overall than my old one. If I did not get the drain I suspect I would have had a pool of water after day 1. IT has leveled off good after 3 weeks and runs smooth. The directions sucked for something you pay this much for but I could deduce most of it but it would have been so easy to make it clear or have online directions.

"Great Skimmer!"
- Product Review by Materson Zeno
(Posted on 8/7/08)

Comments: I have my drain fitting output running down to a gallon jug. It produces more than a 1/4 gallon of dark (opaque) skimmate a week (from a 55gal tank). The drain fitting is a MUST, unless you like emptying the cup once or twice a day to prevent overflow. Setup was easy, and it has been running problem free for 3 months now. I have my pump input connected through tubing to a 3rd party surface skimmer (item code OE1138) 3 feet away so I can separate the intake water source from the skimmer water output.

Comments: I love my Skimmer. It is installed on my 40 and love the way it skimms, I just soaked the skimmerbox for a week and its plug and play. No overskimming nothing. This skimmer skims better then my EuroReef everdid. I am going to purchase another for my 90 to run as supplmental. Noise does go away after a month or so. It has to get to like your tank.

"Loud and touchy"
- Product Review by Tim Councill
(Posted on 7/29/08)
-
Comments: This unit is annoyingly loud, I have to turn it off when talking to someone in the same room or watching a movie. Skimmed copious white, wet foam for the break-in period even at the highest setting, making the drain fitting a requirement to avoid flooding. I drained right back into the tank. Chamber on the right side fits a heater nicely allowing you to remove that from the main tank.
<br />
<br />Unit is extremely sensitive to oils and stops producing any foam for many hours whenever you put your hand in the tank. Part of the problem is no way to adjust how much foam is produced, you can only raise or lower the height of the collection cup. On the plus side, this skimmer looks nice. I used this with the surface filter add-on, which is very poorly designed and not recommended.

"Remora H.O.T."
- Product Review by Michael Davila
(Posted on 7/22/08)

Comments: This skimmer has proven every review that I read during my research, to be accurate. I am fairly new to the saltwater hobby, 3 months in, and I originally bought a cheaper skimmer because of the low price. I realize this mistake temporarily hurt my budget, as well as my new found pride! I have since searched every blog and review site, regarding skimmers, and decided that the Remora would be the best option for my 29g. By the skimmate this produces daily, it is proof that you get what you pay for. The only drawback that I have is that it is not as quiet as I would have preferred. Nevertheless, the noise from the nozzle is not overbearing by any means. The drain fitting is better to have and not need it, then to need it and not have it. And the pre-skimmer is a good tool to hide the pump, and also decrease the amount of micro-bubbles released back into the tank. I am very satisfied with this investment, and I am positive that I made the correct choice for my tank!

Comments: My LFS, Tideline Aquatics, recommended this model over any other they sold. After (3) days I'm already seeing the pollutants being removed. The manufacturer said 1-2 weeks before I would notice anything! I would definitely listen to the experts & purchase Remora products. Very happy with the results thus far.

"Excellent"
- Product Review by Scott Huguley
(Posted on 6/19/08)
-
Comments: I started running this skimmer 24 hours after I added my live rock and sand. After about 2 hours of operation it is already collecting brown scum and foam in the collection cup. I wasn't expecting it to start working so fast. It's making a little bit of spraying noise, but the directions say the noise will get better after a week or two. If the noise doesn't improve, it's ok, because it really isn't that bad. So far I haven't seen many microbubbles at all, which is good of course. It was super easy to install. It has a small foot print and doesn't look tacky at all, I am very happy with it.

Comments: Very nice product. Easy to install and works very well. AquaC also has excellent customer service. Did not experience any noise problems at all. After one day, this product started producing a dry foam and pumping out skimmate. I have a 46 gal bowfront fish only tank.

"AquaC Remora maxi jet 1200"
- Product Review by Silvano Piferi
(Posted on 5/12/08)
-
Comments: I just recently installed the skimmer and this being my first skimmer, my one complaint was with the instructions on how to install the maxi-jet 1200 pump. Once you figure it out, it can't get much easier. I would have loved for the instructions to have shown a generic picture of where the pump goes. Other than that, I've only had it running for a little over 1 day and have not run into any problems except for more air bubbles in the tank. But that is expected for the first couple of weeks. I look forward to working with this piece of equipment.

"Great Product"
- Product Review by Chris Haley

Comments: This skimmer is great if you are looking for something with a small footprint and hang on. I have tried the SeaClone and Prizm with no luck and overflowing problems. Have had this set up for a week and it's already pulling in chunky gunk and brown water. I just wish the foam would be a little more dry as I my evaporation levels have increased since installation. It is noisy, but have noticed a difference from when I first installed it. I can't wait to see what this thing does when it is actually broken in.

"The good, bad, and iffy"
- Product Review by Christopher Ewer
(Posted on 4/4/08)

Comments: After about ten days of using my new AquaC Remora Protein Skimmer w/Drain fitting, Maxi-jet pump, and AquaC Surface Skimmer, The good thing about it is that it keeps the water clean. The bad thing about it is that the surface skimmer mounts are terrible and adjustability sucks. The iffy thing about this set up is that I can't get dry foam. This skimmer puts out so much foam with alot of water that if I hadn't gotten the drain fitting, my house would be flooded. I also have a ton of micro bubbles which this system is supposed to eliminate. Considering the cost of the AquaC system, I had hoped for better results. My reef/marine tank is 46 gallons and is 3 + years old. I guess most of the reviews I read before my purchase were from new start-up tanks. I had previously used a Sea clone 100 Protein skimmer and it was a high maintenance skimmer, but I didn't have the micro bubble problems I am now having. I would have to give a neutral recommendation to my friends about this system.

Comments: I love the spray-injection method so much that I will never go back to adjusting a needle-wheel. I had this for my 46gal reef and it worked wonders. The micro-bubbles are a bit of an inconvenience, but the water clarity more than makes up for it. I'm upsizing my tank to a 120gal and I'll be sure to buy another AquaC skimmer.

"Ramora C is powerful"
- Product Review by Whitney Hengesbach
(Posted on 2/20/08)

Comments: I've had the remora c on my 25 gallon for a few weeks now. It's putting out a lot of waste and the tank is new - only 100 days running. It's definately an agressive skimmer. i'm finding that it's output is a bit wet rather than dry. i've moved the cup higher in the cradle and it is sill pulling a bit too much water out. about 8-10 ounces every 24 hours. i'm hoping i can get it to produce a dryer output as i continue to raise the cup. regardless i would reccomend it. very powerful.

"Poor Instructions"
- Product Review by Jeff Briggs
(Posted on 2/18/08)
-
Comments: I think the jury is still out for me on this skimmer...everything I've heard and read has been nothing but rave reviews.
<br />
<br />My first 48 hours of experience with this skimmer included two floods. The company needs to do a better job at explaining how to "break-in" this skimmer. You definately need to start at the absolute highest setting for the collection cup on this skimmer or you will have a flood like I did. The company's instructions do not state this.
<br />
<br />Get the drain fitting and use a 2 gallon bucket to begin with (until you get the collection cup height just right)...then migrate to a 2L bottle.
<br />
<br />I'm sure this skimmer will eventually perform well for me...just had a really really bad initial first experience with it myself

"Great for smaller tanks!"
- Product Review by Steve Covern
(Posted on 2/5/08)

Comments: This skimmer has done a wonderful job in my 29g reef (SPS dominated). However, I don't think this skimmer could effectively skim anything above 40 gallons. That is the only reason I chose to give it 4 stars. Other than that, a very reliable skimmer for smaller tanks.

"Remora"
- Product Review by James Ferguson
(Posted on 1/30/08)
-
Comments: Couldn't wait for the Remora to arrive, I was very impressed with the quality. After running the unit for a week+, I haven't noticed the noise issue some have attributed to the skimmer. Unfortunately, it has yet to produce anything beyond cloudy water and excess foam in the collection cup. Moving the collection cup throughout the adjustment range only produces more or less water in the cup. I've had outstanding success with AquacC' Rep Steve, but it appears I'll have to return the unit to AquaC for testing and replacement if it is defective. I will say, Steve at AquaC has been outstanding, and responded very quickly to all of my emails and offered a replacement immediately. As far as AquaC goes, you couldn't ask for more from a company in relation to service, but I really can't give a rating on the unit until I know I didn't get a defective unit. All I'd add is don't give up on this unit, everyone I've talked with has had nothing but great success and raved about AquaC. Once I've gone through the process I'll give my review of performance.

"working great"
- Product Review by James Pearce
(Posted on 12/12/07)

Comments: This this is doing its job great! Lots of nasty foam coming out very soon after install. But one word of caution. Keep it at its heighest level for a while to keep all the wet foam from pouring out of it faster than your container can handle or you'll have a mess, even with the drain attachment! But that was user error.

"Aqua C Remora Pro"
- Product Review by Ben Clark
(Posted on 11/30/07)
-
Comments: Excellent product! Easy to install and maintain. Its a bit loud when first installed but after about a week it does quite down. Be careful when first installing that you set the cup height high enough. I failed to do this the first night and it drained 4 gallons out of my tank onto the floor. For the first 48 hours I'd recommend draining directly back into the tank for safety, as it can initially produce a lot of watery skim very fast. Also take care not to over tighten the drain fitting or drop the cup, as it seems like it would crack easily.

Comments: Well, after a little confusion when ordering the skimmer and a few UPS boxes later, my Aqua C Remora finally arrived. It is modern looking, slim, black and easy easy to use. Now, after only 4 days, the skimmer pulls out almost a full cup of dark nasty skimmate from my 75 gallon FOWLR aggressive each day. Truly a much superior skimmer to the CPR bak-pak 2R that is on my coral tank!

"Want dark skimmate? BUY THIS!"
- Product Review by Ea Glissman
(Posted on 8/21/07)
-
Comments: I have a 29 gal. aquarium with 40 pounds of "premium" Figi liverock, a Nemateleotris magnifica, Elacatinus oceanops, and a Gobiodon atrangulatus. In otherwords, a tank of Gobies, with an additional 5 crabs and 5 snails. This protein skimmer produced skimmate within 6 hours of installing! Within 12 hours, it had alredy produced more skimmate than my Red Sea Berlin HO skimmer (which was only 4 months old!) had in A WEEK! The AquaC Remora is now (1 week later) already producing the yucky dark green skimmate which we've all grown to love! Another plus to this skimmer is the Maxi-Jet 1200 pump, which is much smaller, but seems better suited to the job than the Red Sea Berlin unit. As a result, it also looks better in the tank. Better water quality and better looking aquarium. I'm happy, happy, happy!

Within 48 hours, this skimmer had my water CRYSTAL clear. It produced fantastic skimmate and all of my corals immediately looked better, had improved polyp extension, etc. Its compact so its easy to get it on the back of your tank. Nothing but good things to say ..

Comments: After the nightmare of using the Seaclone skimmers I decided to try the Aqua C. This is a good skimmer. It is very quiet, in fact I cannot hear it running. It removes a lot of gunk from the water. The drain fitting is great and well worth the extra money. The instructions are hard to understand at first, however, the skimmer 's performance makes up for this slight hindsight.
