Coralife 24 Inch Aqualight Compact Fluorescent Retrofit Kit w/ 2-65W Lamps Straight Pin Information

Product Manuals & Documentation

While the aquarium system`s lighting is not as important on life and death basis as the aquarium`s pump and filter, the lighting is probably the first piece of equipment that impacts your particular enjoyment of your aquarium the most. The lighting makes the aquarium come to life. It highlights the color of your fish, it enhances the radiance of your plants, and the shimmering effects of the water, and the overall atmosphere is enhanced or depressed by the choice of your lighting. It is simple as that. The lighting is crucial from a purely aesthetic basis. If you have a lot of plant life in your tank, it can also be crucial to your plant`s health.

Your plant will not die if you get natural sunlight in your room, but for optimal health, it helps to have the proper lighting that is conducive to plant photosynthesis. Just like land plants, aquatic plants also need light for the process of creating their own food. Precise lighting is beneficial because it emphasizes your aquarium`s distinctiveness. If you spend some money on exotic fishes and some nice-looking plants, why waste your enjoyment of the prior expenditure by skimping on aquarium lighting?

Be sure to find the right lighting that gives enough brightness and luminescence to be able to enjoy your aquarium much better. If you have exotic fish or you have invested in special sand and other decorative items, the more crucial it is that you purchase the correct lighting. It would be a waste of money if you spend on all these resources-the plants, the fish and the decorations and then try to save money with poor lighting. One good lighting option is the Coralife 24-inch Aqualight Compact Fluorescent Retrofit Kit with 2 65W Lamps Straight Pin from Pet Store.

This lighting option is great for medium-sized tanks and can really bring to life the beauty of your fish and plants that you have. The 2 65W lamps pack a lot of power and is sure to make your aquarium stand out. For maximum enjoyment of your aquatic system, make certain that you endow in the proper lighting.

Excellent!

Comments: WOW! this is a very nice piece of lighting for a very GOOD price. Noone else came close. I am using this one for a 55Gal "NEMO" tank. The quality is AWESOME. The cords ARE long enough and the ballast is vented. I am looking to get the 48" retro for my 100GAL (maybe 2of them) Talk to me Petstore...
<br /> The dual cords make timing perfect. very easy to use and set-up.

"Good product" - Product Review by Julie Carpenter (Posted on 5/28/09)

Great!

Comments: I am very happy with this retrofit kit. Doesn't produce too much heat under the hood, and really does add to the look of the aquascape by making it noticably brighter. The actinic blue brings out some good color. Only problem I had was that the spacers are not perfect and two of them could not be used because they would not fit on the screw.

Great!

Comments: it was really easy to install and works great but when its time to replace the bulbs it gets expensive better to just get a metal halide from the start

Comments: WOW. I have three tanks. I put the coralife 36 retrofit kit with dual 96w. on my 125g fish only with 80 lbs of live rock. Amazing setup for the price. easy install. And plenty of light with seperate plugs for easy dual timers.

"Coralife 24" Retrofit" - Product Review by Chris Coulsby (Posted on 7/13/08)

Great!

Comments: I put this into a 37 gal. tank with a eclipse 3 hood. I wasn't impressed with the standard hood lighting and this is a great replacement. Takes a little trimming to get the reflector in and the pre cut cord exit was on the wrong side. Since moisture was going to be an issue, I was able to notch out the plastic cover from the old lights for the cord routing and mount the kit to the old lighting fixture and even wire in the existing switch. (Some electrical ingenuity is useful) Overall very happy with the fixture.

"Used on Planted Freshwater AQ" - Product Review by Oscar Alcantar (Posted on 4/11/08)

Great!

Comments: I placed this fixture on my freshwater planted Aquarium, and it works great, but the reflection plate is too thin, and fragile, if you're not careful it will be crushed as an aluminum foil sheet. Also I was expecting that they were square pin, not straigth pin. But,so far the lamps deliver good light spectres and give the aquuarium a new fresh-crystaline-like water look.

"lights" - Product Review by Tom Soike (Posted on 12/1/07)

Great!

Comments: These lights work really well, I have the 2 bulbs on different timers so that the actinic bulbs come on an hour early and turn off later for a dawn/dusk effect. The bulbs don't get too hot either, Gives great lighting to my 75 gallon tank although im adding more lighting for corals later

"Easy, and great light" - Product Review by Robert Fairbairn (Posted on 8/13/07)
Rating
Excellent!

Comments: Light kit arrived well packed, on time, installed quickly and easily (about 10 minutes with basic tools, i.e. a philips-head screwdriver) and results in wonderful, bright, full-spectrum light. Kit doesn't include fans, but I'm only seeing about 1/2 degree F increase in tank temperature, so no big deal there. If you have a fairly open canopy like mine, you'll be fine - if yours is more closed, you might want to consider a fan or two to move air. All in all a great buy.
