Coralife Calcium Reactor - up to 250 gallons Information

Product Manuals & Documentation

Keep your aquarium tank clean and clear with the Coralife Calcium Reactor from Pet Store. With an automatic priming external pump, this product is constructed with an easy-to-twist, three-inch-diameter, calcium chamber. This is complete with extra fitting for the installment of a pH probe or pH sensor inlet so that you can operate the device instantly. It contains a clear bubble counter for measuring the levels of carbon dioxide in the water, as well as a reliable safety valve that helps you in monitoring the activity of CO2 levels in your tank.

The Coralife Calcium Reactor allows you to control the flow and level of your aquarium water with simple but reliable gadgets, like the supply valve and the flow chamber. It is equipped with strainers for its reactor input media and for the inner tubings that are used to remove the toxins in the water.

The Coralife Calcium Reactor has an Output Tubing that quickly senses the presence of calcium-positive substances. If there seems to be an increase in the level of Calcium in your water, then you need to separately purchase a calcium media and CO2 system.

The Coralife Calcium reactor is built to be strong and long-lasting because it is made of high grade acrylic. It measures 8" x 5.5" x 15" (LxWxH), and it is ideal for tanks carrying up to 250 gallons.

"Not worth the money" - Product Review by Mark Roman (Posted on 1/15/10)

Comments: The good thing about this calcium reactor is that it is cheap. Even so, it isn't worth the money. As another reviewer stated, bubbles build up in the pump line (I found it happened at least once a week) preventing eluent from being pumped into the tank. Construction is flimsy, and the foam filter pad would get clogged preventing the pump from drawing sufficient water. I spent more time maintaining this than if I had dosed my tank with calcium manually.

"Great but after modification" - Product Review by John V Simon (Posted on 7/16/09)

Great!

Comments: This reactor is a good cheap base if you willing to modify it(this will void the warranty). Silicon around the pump and PTFE tape on all the screw threads, ussed eggcrate to lift the sponge up above the outlet, added a second chamber with crushed coral to further remove CO2, replaced the inlet hose screw with a needle valve for finer flow control and added a ball valve to the top for venting gas buildup occasionally.

"you get what you pay for" - Product Review by Mike Morton (Posted on 3/31/09)

Unsatisfactory

Comments: Pros: inexpensive, compact, easy to fill, pH probe-ready, low-power consumption
<br />Cons: Getting the unit running (getting air out of pump inlet line) is time-consuming and tedious. A bubble builds up in the top of the unit every couple of weeks which requires the inlet/outlet tubes be pinched off so the top can be unscrewed and water can be poured in. The pump attaches bayonet-style, and it is very flimsy and cracks easily. The "auto-fill" bubble counter goes dry over time and there is no easy way to refill it.
