One dilemma that aquariums
develop early on if they get a lot of sunlight is the problem of algae. Algae blooms in an aquarium/pond setting results in a very poor water quality and a really murky water. You could barely see the bottom of the pond/aquarium because of the dense amount of algae in the water. One key way to control algae growth in your water to make it clear is to install a UV lamp to work with your water pump and filter.
As the water is pumped to the filter, the UV light is shined on the water which sterilizes a fast growing alga. While this does not knock out algae completely from your pond, it keeps it in a manageable level. And as a result your pond or aquarium is much cleaner. The UV sterilization process is even more important if your filter is not working properly.
Normally, the filter takes care of certain levels of algae growth but if it’s working under diminished capacity, you would need a UV lamp to boost your pond’s algae fighting capabilities. If your UV lamp is using a turbo twist lamp, you could use a Coralife Replacement Lamp - PI Type 9watt for Turbo Twist from Pet Store
. This lamp is a great replacement lamp because it consumes only 9watts. It’s a very cost effective solution yet it does the job perfectly. So, sterilize your algae with Coralife Replacement Lamp - PI Type 9Watt for Turbo Twist.
