CPR Bak-Pak 2 Pre-skimmer Information

Do you think you have enough equipment to help keep your aquarium clean for your marine pets? A protein skimmer is one of the helpful tools that a marine aquarium owner should have. They are used to manually get rid of organic matter and other debris that cloudy up an aquarium. These can harm the water chemistry in the aquarium as well as the health of your pets. If you are using the Bak-Pak combination protein skimmer and bio-filtration unit, you are in good hands. However, you can still add to the efficiency of the whole Bak-Pak device if you use the CPR Bak-Pak 2 Pre-Skimmer Pet Store.

It can be attached around the powerhead you are already using for your marine aquarium to screen out some of the debris and dirt that enters the tank. This can lessen the the stress given to the Bak-Pak unit can go through and makes sure the unit can be depended on for a longer time. Both products are manufactured by CPR, one of the leading names in the development quality but affordable equipment for owners of marine aquariums. You should make sure that you have the right equipment to keep your aquarium clean. If you are using the Bak-Pak filtration unit, make sure you also have CPR Bak-Pak 2 Pre-Skimmer.

The Bak-Pak Pre-skimmer fits around the powerhead and skims water from the surface of the aquarium where wastes accumulate. The Pre-skimmer makes the Bak-Pak even more efficient.

CPR Bak-Pak 2 Pre-skimmer Reviews

"Necessary Component" - Product Review by Agrippa Kissam (Posted on 1/10/11)

Excellent!

Comments: Please do not run a Bak-Pak without this Pre-skimmer. It does a great job of taking the water from the surface. If you don't have an ATO, you may need to adjust the depth of the Pre-skimmer every day or two unless you stay vigilant with water levels. I would not ever use my Bak-Pak without it.

Great!

Comments: The box improves the quality of the skim by taking the water from the surface where most pollution is located.

"GREAT PRODUCT" - Product Review by Kenneth Markham (Posted on 5/12/08)

Great!

Comments: First thing, DO NOT use the foam block, it only clogs and slows down the water flow. Note: the 2 small sides are now clear plexiglass so you can see the water level inside the box. I had to drill & tap another hole b/c I wanted it to feed from left side. Works awesome when the water level is just right. I had the oil slick on my reef tank and over night it was crystal clear!

"Two changes necessary" - Product Review by Benjamin Lipman (Posted on 11/30/07)

Great!

Comments: I've been using the Bak-Pak pre-skimmer for two years. It is a necessary addition to the skilter because it skims off the surface water, something the skilter will not do on it own. It works great, but needs two modifications. The first would be to remove the foam that covers the intake and replace it with a plastic slit system. The foam gets dirty quickly and plugs up. Leaving the intake open completely means fish can get sucked in to the pre-skimmer. I've had this happen. Nothing happend to the fish, but you have to get them out. Second, the threads that hold the screw, which holds the pre-skimmer in place, wore down. This happened after about two years and is the reason I had to buy another. A solution would be a plastic wedge inside the box that could press up against the pump, allowing for verticle movement of the intake. This shouldn't wear down after two years.

Comments: This does a good job, however, it is bothersome to have to adjust it with the water level. Snails, crabs, etc. will find their way in it and behind as well. It also does take up a lot of room around the pump. I got it to keep out seahorse tails and for that it does a fine job so.....
