In a healthy aquarium, all necessary chemicals and substances should be kept to their desired levels. High levels of a chemical - whether beneficial or not - is harmful. At the same time, you don’t want to have insufficient levels for essential chemicals. Constant monitoring is needed to make sure that everything is under control.
If you have a coral reef tank, one of the things you need to closely monitor is the calcium content. Corals rely on calcium to grow and develop their exoskeletons. Without calcium, corals
will not thrive. This is why it’s important to have a calcium reactor, which is a device that maintains the alkalinity and the calcium level in a tank, and also the ratio between the alkalinity and the calcium level.
Of course, a calcium reactor is only as good as its filter media, which is the substance that reacts to the tank water when the levels are too low. A great media you can use is the D-D Rowalith C+ 6K Calcium Reactor Media Pet Store
This reactor media dissolves at lower-than-ideal pH levels so that alkalinity ions and calcium are released to the water.
The D-D Rowalith C+ 6K Calcium Reactor Media has high and concentrated calcium content for its weight.
The recommended media for Deltec Fluidised Calcium reactors and is 50:50 blend of Rowalith C and Rowalith W.Instructions for use of ROWAlith C+
This material must be washed very very thoroughly before placing inside your Fluidized Reactor, if you do not do this the reactor will run cloudy.
ROWAlith-C is a natural material specially chosen to produce the highest calcium output in your Fluidized Reactor.
Set the reactor to run between 30 to 40 dKH. Measure the water from the reactor after allowing it to run for 24 hours, from the output flow.
Due to the efficiency of the fluidized reactor constant top up of this material will be required. Please ensure that the calcium levels in your aquarium do not exceed 480 to 500 mg/l.
For saltwater only.
