Comments: Tried an AquaC Remora, but it wouldn't fit with my canopy and I didn't like the powerhead in the tank. Next tried a Reef Octopus BH1000. It fit and skimmed well, but it made a constant loud gurgling that drove my wife crazy. Also really hard to assemble and maintain. Decided to try the Deltec, and what a difference! Simple to assemble, really quiet, and started pulling nasty stuff out the first day. It does prime kind of slowly which made me nervous at first, but it's not really a problem.

Comments: this is the best skimmer i've seen in my young reefing experience. right now the skimmer is making a thick foam that looks like coffee. wow who knew that water had so much nastiness in it. all of my lions and corals seem to be enjoying the new water conditions.

it took about one week to break in and it is a dream the pump isn't that loud as most complain about. the loud thing is the return water hitting the display water. to get around that i tucked a Mag2 filter in between the degassing shield and the mounting bracket so the water falls onto the sponge filter.

the haredest thing is to zero in on the air-valve dial and the height of the box. this skimmer is so strong that it will fill up with water quick if it's not dialed in properly.

overall this skimmer is well worth the money.

Comments: I am currently using a Deltec MCE600 Turbo to keep my 32 gallon nano reef tank clean and clear. I needed to switch from an AquaC Remora; it just did not do the job efficiently. After much research and trying to find video examples of the Deltec (which there are only a few quality videos on the internet) I spent the money on the MCE600 turbo. There seems to be some users that have issues with micro-bubbles, I

Comments: I bougt a used saltwater fishtank a deltec 600 skimmer was included. it was old 2002 model, and i thought it was going in the trash. after a lot of work prying i got into the internal chamber cleaned all of the parts checked the motor. OK HERE IS WHAT IMPRESSED ME I BOUGHT AN AQUA C EV-180 ITS LESS THAN 6 MONTHS OLD AND THE DELTEC OUTPERFORMS THE AQUA C HANDS DOWN, IT PREFORMS SKIM MATE FAST.

Comments: This unit does a GREAT job.It will fill very fast for the first couple of days but then settles down. Runs great and I am very happy with it. I have it on a 90 gallon reef tank that is fairly well stocked. I would buy one again. Great item.

Comments: Quiet and efficient skimmer. I had the a Coralife Skimmer before this one and it was a bit loud with bulky components inside of the tank. It is very easy to clean the cup of the Deltec skimmer. Setup directions are a bit vague. Overall, I am very satisfied with the performance of this skimmer!

Comments: you know what. i have used lots of skimmers, aquamaxx hob1,cpr bakpak, remora, red sea prizm, and i have to say that deltec keeps me going back to there equipment. i have spent and wasted lots of money over the time of my saltwater hobby on skimmers but im one of those that like to try new equipment on the market. anyhow i will stick to all deltec products in the future. dont waste alot of money on other equipment, do it right the first time around go for the "DELTEC" period!!!! if you cant afford it the first time save up and then buy it. you will not be dissappointed at all!!

- Product Review by Stephen Coulter

Comments: This skimmer is a beast for sure. The sheer output of nog is even more impressive than my old Euroreef CS-6. The skimmer works great! However, the ergonomics leave much to be desired. The skimmer cup is WAY too small. I have to empty and clean it almost daily, which highlights another design oversight, the set screw for the skimmer cup. It's a slotted nylon screw. It should've had a wing nut type head for easy removal by hand, especially since it needs removing so often. Also, this skimmer does have a long break-in period and you do have to tweak it, but once it gets going, you don't have to fool with it except for cleaning.

Comments: The skimmer works fine but the pump is a real hassle to get out for cleaning and I've had a never ending struggle against microbubbles. If I had it to do over, I would likely purchase another hang on skimmer.

Comments: This unit replaces a much cheaper different brand skimmer that I had running for 2 months. I can say that the Deltec MCE600 is an excellent skimmer(which is one of the most important pieces of an aquarium). The DeltecMCE600 is first place.

Comments: Relatively quiet and creates really nice micro bubbles. I didn't want to spend this much on a skimmer but after wasting so much money on cheap ones, I figured I should bite the bullet. After a few hours, my water is CRYSTAL clear. It's truly worth every penny.

"Excellent Craftsmanship"

Comments: I've been through my fair share of skimmers in the past (CS125, Tunze 9002, Aqua-C Remora) and nothing compares to the build quality, craftsmanship, and performance of the MCE300.

I've only been running it for 2 days on my 17g rimless and it's already producing a nice, green tea colored skimmate. And this is with nothing but partially cured live rock!!

The unit is incredibly quiet, dumps very little bubbles back into the tank (read: still not broken in) and the needlewheel really produces some nice, small uniform bubbles. It was so quiet compared to my Remora that I thought it wasn't running for a second.

I'd DEFINITELY recommend to friends and fellow reefers. It's one of the few products (besides my Vortechs) that I've been 100% happy with.

"Not good for JBJ 28g Tank"
- Product Review by Clinton Paquin
(Posted on 8/5/10)

Comments: I'm sure the MCE300 is a great skimmer, but the physical setup is not built to fit on the JBJ 28g tank without modifications. If you have plenty of room behind your tank, and you are willing to saw the outtake pipe - this is probably the best skimmer you're gonna find.

Comments: really nice. Just wish it had a surface skimmer and a better return, both easily fixed with a trip to the hardware store for some PVC pipes.

Comments: Well I have owned a lot of different skimmers over the years, this one is truely a impressive piece of equipment, when i put this baby into service, it was on a completely new system , so new water and substrate, even though there was nothing in the water to remove I figured I would allow it to break in, now when i added the arganite it really clouded the water up, within 2 hours the deltec HOB had pulled ever bit of the cloudy arganite waste out of my tank and collected me a nice milkshake consistantcy, very impressive, i now am pulling very nice dark skimate out on a daily basis,Keep the cup clean on a daily basis and this baby really performs!

"Expensive but worth it!"
- Product Review by Gregory Jochman

Comments: My tank is not drilled, so a hang on skimmer is a must. After trying several skimmers on my 75 gallon tank with little to no success at producing good skimmate, I bit the bullet and purchased the MCE600 after reading the reviews. All I can say is I wish I would have done it sooner, rather that waste all the money I did on skimmers that simply don't work! The MCE600 consistently produces a good dry foam resulting in dark smelly skimmate. I can't believe the waste this thing pulls out of the tank! The Aquabee pump that runs it is first rate, with a ceramic impeller shaft and very quiet operation. The only noise is from the air intake, which is considerable, but expected with the large volume of air being drawn in. I really like that the pump is housed internally, as opposed to an eyesore hanging in the tank. I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a H.O.B. skimmer.

Comments: Needed a new skimmer to replace my Seaclone 100 which wasn't doing the job at all. Decided on this unit mainly because it seemed to have good reviews and I heard Deltec was a decent brand. A little too pricey I think for what you get but all the reviews said you get what you pay for in a skimmer and so far am very pleased especially with the pinwheel design. Very easy to set-up. Is very quiet, not overly big, hangs nicely on the back of my 75 gal tank, and has very little bubble return to the tank. I think the bubble return deflector could be smaller in size but found I really don't need it anyway.I did find out after installation I can no longer leave my aquarium hinged tops closed due to the return spout which extends inward into the tank a little too far. If I leave the covers open and pulled forward it then misses the water flowing in which is ok considering what I really wanted from this unit is to help get the crap out of my water.

Comments: After about 3 weeks of reading through the various reviews and vast amount of Protein Skimmers; I settled on this lil puppy. It is a lil pricey, however, it was EASY to setup and is VERY quiet. Infact, one of my damsel's was on the verge on dieing and once i hooked this up; within 48hrs, that fish was swimming like new, no kidding. It removes all the GUCK as advertised. The Seaclone 100 I had was a BIG JOKE and waste of money and electricity.

"Amazing Skimmer"
- Product Review by Norman Carter

Comments: I have a 55gal reef tank... just starting. Noticed the difference overnight in water clarity and chemistry.Trillions of bubbles produced in the chamber (removing unbelievable amouts of foul smelling crud). Effortless to put together, very minor adjusting to get it skimming just right. Seems to get stronger over time. This is one of the few cases that the consumer definitely gets what they pay for!

Comments: I feel the output is not very good and if you ever turn the unit off or loose power be prepared to nearly dissassemble to get it started; it is VERY hard to restart. I also feel the output pipe is way too long and causes problems plumbing it.

"It Works!"
- Product Review by Vernon Davenport

Comments: I am on my very first SW tank (about 3 months old) and this was my very first protein skimmer. It works great as far as i can tell. I havn't gotten all the kinks worked out yet but so far i'm impressed. I clean it daily and it skimms about an inch of brown/black stuff a day. Once the sides get dirty is seems to stop working but a 30 second clean fixes it.

Comments: I have had the MCE 600 up and running for a few weeks now and could not be more pleased with its performance and quality. Extremely simple plug and play installation with production of skimmate almost immediately. Nice clean unobtrusive appearance, easy adjustment, and a chamber for placement of a media bag are among the features that make this product a genuine winner. Another example of nice German engineering.

Comments: This is the very best HOT skimmer made anywhere in the world. It is overpriced, especially as the construction is very simple, but its performance is superb. Easy to clean. Those of you who use other brands and think they are better should try using yours and then borrowing a Deltec and putting it on your tank. The stuff it pulls out is amazing.

"Great skimmer for small tanks"

Comments: Very nice HOT skimmer for smaller tanks. I am running one on a 28 gallon tank. It performs much better than a remora or other small skimmers that I have used in the past. The only drawback that I see with it is that the return is high above the water surface and makes some bubbles.

Comments: It may be expensive but is by far the best hang on the back skimmer made. I have had it up and running on my 30 gal. reef for over a week and it is already pulling out waste at an amazing rate. Quiet, no bubbles going back to the tank and extremely efficient. The pump might need to be realigned after shipping but after that the unit is easy to assemble. Yes I would recommend this to anyone who wants the best and this truly is.
