Comments: Running this pump as a return to a 180g tank. The ability to tune this thing to get the output you want in flow is invaluable. It runs quiet and with very little heat (Submerged).

"good overall pump" - Product Review by James Shultz II (Posted on 3/6/11)

Great!

Comments: This pump is rather good overall. I especially like the variable speed option this pump offers. The pump works well and is more than sufficient in moving water through the system.

The two issues with the pump is:
1. The suction cups pop off of the pump too easily.
2. Vibrations seems to be a little excessive.

"A very good pump." - Product Review by Thang Nguyen (Posted on 3/3/11)

Great!

Comments: I use this pump externally to move water from my tank to the chiller. I use it with the suction feet which dampens the vibrations and the pump does produce a low hum with is barely audible when I put it in the aquarium cabinet located in my bedroom. So far, it's been rock solid. Flow control feature is great and very simple to setup.

"Excellent Pump!" - Product Review by Joseph Fernandez (Posted on 1/17/11)

Excellent!

Comments: I purchased 2 of the Eheim Compact 5000+ pumps for my 2 returns. They have been in operation in my sump for 10 months now on my 120 gallon reef tank. Both are still working well with no problems. I removed them a few days ago for a thorough cleaning. Easy to clean and now they look brand new again. The built in adjustible flow is a nice feature so there is no need to add an inline flow regulator. I am going to purchase another one and leave it in my closet as a backup in case one of my existing pumps fail. I'm surprised how quiet this pump runs and power consumption is good compared to the Mag 12.

"does not compare to a mag7" - Product Review by Gary Weber (Posted on 12/13/10)

Unsatisfactory

Comments: this pump was bought to replace a mag 7 on a skimmer. Does not pump enough water to run the skimmer. I am not sure how they measure the output, but it does not measure up to a mag7

"Works great!" - Product Review by Jacob Bloss (Posted on 3/25/10)

Excellent!

Comments: This pump is working great for my 1/4 HP chiller. It's quiet and is doing the job nicely.
I am running it submerged in my RSM 250. It fits in chamber 2 with a little finesse, no cutting or removing anything is required. Oh yeah, you can also run it externally if you want to, and the flow rate is adjustable! Awesome!

"First Impressions" - Product Review by Gerald Anderson (Posted on 3/10/10)

Excellent!

Comments: Well, a little too early for a good review, but having it up for just under a week I'm impressed. Very quite, solid feel and construction, LOVE the variable flow and various means of plumbing it. Only negative at the moment is that the rubber feet come off pretty easily, always a pet peeve of mine when pulling a pump out of the sump.
