"Heats well / not accurate-set"
- Product Review by Kevin Cooper
(Posted on 8/27/12)
-
Comments: Yes it comes with an adjustable calibration dial. This is a great idea. However, when you have 8 degrees of play in the dial to set the temp, that just doesn't matter. For instance, I wanted my tank at 86 to get rid of ich. I set it there and the temp went to 87. I tried to lower the dial until the heater light went off and I had to take it down to 78.

Dial is hard to turn while in the tank as well. Not much for the other hand to grab onto for leverage.

If however you just need a heater to put yourself in a temperature range and not have a exact temp, then this will do the job.

For a tad more you might could find a digital one.

"Heater works well."
- Product Review by Michael Kennedy
(Posted on 7/7/12)
-
Comments: Ive only had this heater for about a week now, but so far I have no complaints. It seems to be working well and holding a steady, and fairly accurate temp. My only complaint is that the heater is a little tall for my tank. I know that's my fault for not paying attention to the specs. Other than that, I've had no issues.

"Overheating heater"
- Product Review by Bryce Risley
(Posted on 5/10/12)
-
Comments: I'm currently experimenting with my third 'tru-temp' heater after the first two overheated my tank. The calibration dial does not at all reflect what the water will be heated to. Example: actual water temperature is 81.4F. Heater dial set at 77F and still heating! It continues to heat to over 83F! Cannot get pilot light shut off or product to stop heating even when dial is set to the absolute minimum temp. It's maddening! On the plus side, this product will heat your tank!

Comments: I had a Visi-Therm heater for 15 years and needed to replace it because I felt my fish and corals were living on borrowed time. I looked at the reviews and decided on not getting another Visi-Threm so I went with Jager. I've had it for a few weeks and it keeps the temperature stable. It's dialed in at 77 degrees and my tank is 79 degrees so it more accerate then the Visi-Therm ever was even when it was new.

"Great heater"
- Product Review by Vanand Alaverdyan
(Posted on 7/6/11)

Comments: Great heater. The dials are a bit confusing at first but they're highly, highly accurate. As a fair warning, it's flippin' huge. The length that's listed here and on the box isn't entirely accurate though. The THICK power cord sits right on top and is nearly impossible to bend, so make sure you have space for another inch or two to the overall length.

"Best Heater Available"
- Product Review by Dale Isley
(Posted on 5/28/11)

Comments: Realizing the Eheim Jager is not the least expensive heater, even with the website's excellent pricing... it is far superior to anything you compare it to. The protective glass casing is fully twice as thick as competitors and the ease of operation is unsurpassed. All controls are made for top down viewing and adjustment, allowing independant movements for both the scale and the setting. So, if your scale happens to be off a smidge from what it should be, you can index it to be spot on. I purchase heaters one size larger than what I need so it operates well within designed limits, which also allows for quick responce during water changes minimizing temperature change for your fish. Excellent price, quality product, quick shipping... there is no reason to ignore this website!

"100w Jager"
- Product Review by Charles Thurner Diaz
(Posted on 5/23/11)
-
Comments: Quality of this heater alone would give it 5 stars it has a very durable glass shell, a really nice UL approved plug in and the thermostat seems to turn on as soon as the temp drops less than a degree. One down side of the actually heater is it is enormous for the amount of watts it puts out.
HOWEVER, the performance of it was out right disapointing. This was used to heat a ten gallon nano tank in a chilly basement with an average ambient temp of 68 degrees. They say 50w to raise 9 degrees and 75w to raise 18 degrees. The 100w was on sale and I figure this should have no troubling heating the tank up. Plug it before calbriating raise the tank to 70 when set to 80. then i tried calbriating it and moved the ring as far as it could go. Set to 80 again got it to 74 degrees... Im hoping mine was just defective because that is terrible to have a heater's thermostat that off

"dependable"
- Product Review by John Wesolowski
(Posted on 5/8/11)

Comments: I purchased these heaters as replacements for another brand that was recalled. Jager has a long-time reputation for dependable heaters. Don't try to save a couple bucks when it comes to heaters, since a defective one can over heat a tank, fail to heat, or potentially start a fire (the reason for the other brand being recalled).

Comments: Bought this for my 6 gallon JBJ Nanocube. Fits perfectly in the back, almost totally submerged, but might have to modify the hole the cable runs through. Currently, the cable is being slightly pinched when you close the lid or if not lined up properly the lid won't completely close....just a slight gap.

Comments: Very well made heater, durable and a very small window for on/off. Some heaters will go way over the set point before turning off and way under before coming back on which creates a constant up and down in temps. This heater keeps temps very stable. For the cost i don't think there is a better option.

"Excellent"
- Product Review by Alex Lee
(Posted on 1/11/11)

Comments: I've tried three heaters brands and the Jager is easily the best one. It's precise, regularly maintaining temperature within 0.5°F most of the time while other heaters were within 1-2°F. It's also accurate, especially with it's nice calibration feature. The only negative is that it's rather large at 9" for 50w, which can be an issue in some nano tanks; it almost didn't fit in my DIY refugium. All-and-all, an excellent heater.

"Jager 250 Watt"
- Product Review by Donna Jarjour
(Posted on 11/28/10)
-
Comments: Seems to be well constructed. All Jager heaters have a calibration feature, and on the older ones, the pin you had to pull out to calibrate often stuck, and would be very hard to pop out. The new series has fixed that, using a second ring to determine calibration. The heater being submersible is a GREAT feature, which the earlier Jagers lacked. It seems to be accurate to about 1-2 degrees F.

"Marine Aquarium Heater"

Comments: After several other heaters that were much less than desirable, I was getting frustrated at the lack of quality in products out there. Then I bought this Jager heater, and I am completely satisfied with it. It keeps my tank at the exact temperature I set it, and I don't have to worry and test any more. After initial testing, I found that this one is on the money. The only thing I see lacking is a light to let you know when it's running - but that is just not necessary, because this little heater can be depended on. Great product, and one less thing to worry about.

"EXCELLENT!!!"
- Product Review by Steve Vinas

Comments: I give this heater (250 watt) a 5 star rating because of my history with JAGER. I have used JAGER since I got into the hobby in 1998 in all of my set ups. Every one I have had did not fail! The temp stays where it should. The new and improved JAGER are excellent since they are approved to be submersible, like they were in the past. I have banged rocks into these heaters and they do not crack or shatter like you think a glass heater would. They are very durable. I say buy one of these because I never had one break or not do its job. I always hear of titanium heaters that cost double, fail. Every system should have two heaters running in case one fails. So the bottom line is they are dependable, strong and priced right! And this 5 star rating means you will not be disappointed!!

"precise- not accurate"
- Product Review by Andrew Grzanowski
(Posted on 2/17/10)

Comments: I purchased 4 heaters to use on a rack of four 10 gallon aquariums. The water temperature was 72 degrees +/- 1 degree before heating. The heaters came preset for 78 degrees when plugged in. The four aquariums ranged between 74 and 78 degrees after 3 days. When upped to 81 degrees on the dial the tanks still only reached 79 degrees. The temperatures are consistant though. Do you want accuracy or precision? I hope they last a long time.

Comments: Since adding this heater to the sump of my 135g the water has not went below the set temperature. I bought this to replace a Stealth of the same wattage and this is better without a doubt.

"A Great Heater"
- Product Review by Virginia Hoch
(Posted on 1/7/10)

Comments: When my Jager heater died after a good long life, I got some other brand because it was the only thing available locally. Big mistake. The Jager allows precise temperature setting, and it sits on temperature without wandering. Highly recommend this brand.

"Save those instructions!"
- Product Review by James Masek
(Posted on 10/23/09)
-
Comments: This heater seems well built/designed/value priced.
I did have to re-calibrate the knob twice to set a correct temp.;
so you should have an accurate thermometer to check against. I bought a digital from this site.
Save the instructions for this procedure.

"Great Product"
- Product Review by James Baker
(Posted on 10/11/09)

Comments: This was my second Jager Heater - my first was a smaller 7 inch 150W version that was marginally adequate for our 50 gal acquarium when the room got really cold. I love this larger unit - oversizing the heater means the acquarium stays at the set 74 deg regardless of what is happening in the room. These are high quality, long lasting, reliable units. My experience has been excellent.

"Terrible"
- Product Review by Francis Kivler
(Posted on 10/2/09)
-
Comments: On my third heater in 3 months. First one was erratic. Second one DOA. And the third one refuses to work good most of the time also. I've been in fresh water aquariums for 25 years and have never had products as bad as these. I will never buy any more Ehiem/Jager products again. Very dissatisfied.

"Terrific Heater"
- Product Review by John Sobel
(Posted on 9/30/09)

Comments: I have Jager Heaters on all my tanks. They are durable and keep the tank temperature very stable. I splurged on these new Jager heaters to replace some of my older heaters because they are completely submersible, and they are UL approved. I feel better knowing that they are completely water proof, and the UL approval is something few other aquarium heaters have.
I've only had these heaters for a week, but they certainly seem to be of the same high quality as my older Jager heaters.
I would hate to loose fish because I wanted to save a few bucks on a heater.

"Quality"

Comments: Quality that you can see. Good to see this item is UL listed (Tested for safety)when so many other items in this industry are not. Saltwater / salt creep = conductive. I gladly pay more money for this item knowing it will not kill me.

"not working"
- Product Review by Dana Boian

Comments: I set it at 78 and my temp goes up to 82.
I unplug it and watch my temp drop. I had try
the second one I bought, same thing. Either
my brand new digital thermometer is faulty
or these heaters run way too hot.

"reliable heater"
- Product Review by Philip Lessans
(Posted on 1/6/09)
-
Comments: I liked that the casing was 2mm thick of Pyrex glass. I used two 150 watt heaters on a 70 gallon reef system and I never had any problems. I replaced one of the heaters because it no longer remained steady, but it should be noted that I kept it completely submersed and it started this behavior after about a year. It was time to replace it anyway. I would buy this heater again.

"Best Heater I have Owned"
- Product Review by Joshua Schecter
(Posted on 11/18/08)
-
Comments: This is the BEST heater I have ever owned! (I've had about 5).

Definitely worth the price. I have a solf shell turtle that tears up EVERYTHING Possible in the tank. He's constantly drilling his way past the heater banging it against the glass but no worries.

Being waterproof is also a Very Nice Feature with the amount of times I have to deal with the water level. Very accurat and reliable heat settings.

"Mixed results"
- Product Review by Stephen Lux
(Posted on 7/5/08)

Comments: Purchased two of these 75 W heaters -- one to do most of the work for a small 20 gal reef tank, and the other as a backup and/or the extra heat needed for a 20 gal when the temperature outside the tank drops a few extra degrees. Out of the box, one worked great, just dial to the temperature and it holds it rock solid. The other doesn't work properly -- after an initial operation of a few minutes, won't even turn on again. I got the Jager because it had great reviews. I also use other heaters that have many bad reviews on this site, yet they've work for 7 years and still going strong with no problems. Guess that just goes to show these heaters are all the same basic technology, and not a perfect solution. Gave the Jager an average rating. Works well when it works (note - only had the one that works a week now, so we'll really see in the long run).
