You can also remove and replace the filter parts with a special handle for occasional maintenance. Nice features that can fail Product Review by marc (Posted on 2/26/14)

Comments: Introduces bubbles into the tank and frequently loses it's siphon. The convenience of the quick release connections is outweighed by their unreiliability.

Excellent!

Comments: This 2224 pump head works well and is very simple to set up if you read the instructions. Prime the pump properly and you have no problem.

overrated Product Review by RYAN WAGNER (Posted on 9/30/11)

Unsatisfactory

Comments: I have an Eheim Pro 2073 and I would not recommend it. The pros - er, rather pro - is/are a 'spiffy' design. The cons - and there are many - are cheap construction, difficult siphoning, and ultimately, poor filtration. To elaborate, the filter began leaking within the first year of installation. Soon thereafter the quick release function became jammed. And in trying to loosen the latter, the airflow on-off lever - constructed of flimsy plastic although it is stiff to move - broke. To top all this off, the filter, much larger than I needed for a 34 g tank, failed to reduce nitrate levels or reduce a hair algae problem: 15 ppg before the filter and 15 ppg after. Oh, and don't expect anything from customer support. They refuse to answer even an e-mail.
Terrible product and terrible company. I would not recommend Eheim to anyone and give this product the lowest possible rating.

Could be better Product Review by MARC (Posted on 4/2/11)

Comments: The filter itself is nice but Eheim doesn't supply the accessories that would make the filter great. There was barely enough tubing to plumb the filter and no hardware fittings (decent elbow) to mount the spray bar. I had to build my own out of PVC to mount the spray-bar properly on my tank.

I've purchased cheaper filters with superior fittings.

All that being said the filter is nice and works as described just a pain to install with the fittings supplied.

Great!

Comments: Does not have the One Step function of Pro II but otherwise just as good and $75 cheaper--I use as a backup to a Pro II in a 90 gallon tank ( probbaly 70 gallon with LR)
