Eheim Digital Heater
(Posted on 10/21/09)
Comments: When I purchased this filter I wanted to replace my old filter with an internal heater. My old Eheim filter's themostat had gotten wet and didn't keep the water at a constant temperature. So looked on Marine Depot , and found this newer model with two intakes, digital heater display, and an enormous filtering capacity. I was immediately impressed. The giant filter has wheels, a latching system that fixes the older versions, snap closing flaw(the snaps break off), and is completely quiet.
I am glad I purchased this filter instead of fixing my older eheim. Just to replace the thermostat it would have cost me half of the price for this better model.
Great Filter, OK heater

Comments: The filter is awesome. It makes our 250 gallon tank look awesome. The heater part is ok. If you have fish that rely on exact temperature, I would go with a regular heater. The filter says that it is the right temperature, but the tank isn't evenly heated.
Also, I wasn't aware that this did not come with filter media. I ended up having to make a two hour drive to find some. Double check to make sure you can find media in your area, or order enough with your original order.
Eheim Concept failure

Comments: Having owned this filter for 3 years I can say with confidence now any positive review you may find on the Pro 3 series, without a doubt it will be from an optimistic recent purchaser who is trying to convince themselves they made the right decision rather than go with a large Eheim Classic Series. I know I was that purchaser.
Absolutely poor on mechanical filtration, bypass has to be countered by cutting larger filter pads to stuff top of filter. Even then it is nowhere near Classic series performance.
Secondly parts will fail one after another, search web and you will see many complaints of priming issues. Leakage. The springs in my priming mechanism just simply failed one day. Priming nightmare until I discovered a way around by opening valve and running it full flow and then securing to filter afterward.
Finally now 2 months out of 3 year warranty I cannot get hose assembly valve to disengage from pump head. Short of smashing it I finally opened clips and raised it off filter body to clean pads. I'm now worried that the filter pump will fail causing my prized Tropheus colony to crash.
I will now humbly purchase a Classic 2262 as I should have years ago and place a Hydor inline heater as I did on my other Eheim Classic and go back to being a happy hobbyist.
Oh yes a positive. The integrated continues to work great, lol.
Buyer beware is all I can say.
