Hydor ETH 200 In-Line Heater 200 Watt - 1/2 inch Information

A heater is an important part of an aquarium especially when you own fish that naturally live in a different climate than where you live right now. Think of tropical fish inside an aquarium during the winter. Such fish will not fare well in a cold, snowy environment, which is why a heater becomes more essential than ever.

There are several kinds of heater in the market, and one of the most common is the inline kind. Among the inline variety, the Hydor Eth 200 In-Line Jeater 200 Watt from Pet Store is one of the better-known products from a well-respected brand. This heater doesn`t just provide heat to the water - it also controls erratic variations in temperature that can happen when water is not circulating well enough around the tank. You won`t have to worry about the water overheating, extreme cooling, or fluctuating in between.

The Hydor Eth 200 In-Line Jeater 200 Watt is equipped with a easy-to-spot light that turns on when the heater is running. This is helpful for you when you want to monitor its run. In case it does break down, you can tell right away instead of trying to figure out if it is working or not. No guessing games there!

The Hydor Eth 200 In-Line Jeater 200 Watt is compact enough to fit in a small space. It can be installed along a canister filer`s line. Make sure that it is vertically upright during installation to avoid unwanted air bubbles. Once installed, you can easily adjust the temperature with the built-in movable knob.

ETH 200 In-Line Heater UL Listed 200 Watt for 12mm & 1/2" Hose
External thermal heater which includes the PTC system. Suitable for all external canister filters

The Hydor ETH in-line external heater is designed for vertical use in most aquarium applications involving water hose of the specified diameter. The ETH must be used in a vertical manner for correct operation. The most common application is for use with canister filter, however the ETH is easily adapted for use in almost any situation where heated aquarium water is required, such as with wet/dry sump pumps. The ETH is easily installed by cutting the tubing and connecting the two parts of the tube to each side of the ETH. For reduced maintenance, it is recommended that the ETH be installed within the filter`s output assembly. As most canister filters are not designed to bear weight, it is recommended that the ETH be properly supported by the use of the attached loop to avoid stress on the output assembly. The ETH is completely safe and UL Listed. There is no danger of damage if the ETH is left running dry for short periods as the ETH will switch itself off in that event. The ETH heats with high efficiency by means of an internal heat pump system that avoids temperature variations. For use in freshwater and marine aquariums. Fits most canister filters such as the Hydor Prime, the Rena Filstar, Eheim canisters, and the Fluval canisters with the use of a short section of tubing to complete the connection. Use of the ETH cleaning brush is recommended.

Features:
  • Completely safe.
  • No danger of damage if the equipment is left running without water for a short period of time.
  • Patented heating element made with the exclusive PTC system. The traditional metal resistor coils have been replaced by a special polymer sheet silk- screened with heating ink.
  • Setting of temperature controlled by an electronic circuit with indicator light.
  • Connectors suitable for any flexible pipe of all external filters.
  • Two year manufacturer`s warranty.

Hydor ETH 200 In-Line Heater 200 Watt - 1/2 inch Reviews

"Over 4 years and no problems!" - Product Review by Robert Bowman (Posted on 9/9/12)

Excellent!

Comments: I have had my share of problems with heaters, sticking on and cooking my fish, glass tube cracking or they stop they working. I've lost count of the heaters I've trashed. I bought one the Hydor ETH300s for my 90 gal discus tank over 4 years ago. It has worked flawlessly holding the temp at 83 degrees even in a cold room. I even removed the 300 watt in-tank backup heater year ago.
<br />I will say this, take your time setting up the hoses. Don't let the weight of the heater hang on the hoses, I use the hook on the heater so it hangs on the back of the tank.

"Excellent heater" - Product Review by Brian Smith (Posted on 11/10/11)

Excellent!

Comments: This is my second Hydor in-line heater, I have a 300 watt on my 75 gal planted tank and a 200 watt on my 29 gal planted tank. I chose them because I wanted less equipment visible in the tank. The thermostat on these is much better than the Hydor Theo heaters. The Theo heaters are great from a shatterproof and auto-shutoff-run-dry perspective, but their thermostats are 10+ degrees off. Not so with the Hydor ETH, they're just right!

Great!

Comments: Quick and easy to install, nessasary for a Stingray tank, no burns. One thought though, I replaced a 150w in tank w/ this 200w inline and the inline cannot keep up with the heat loss, gona switch to the 300w. Double the wattage to do the same work. I'm heating a 150 ga pond to 78F installed in my basement, ambent temp about 65F.

"Solid Heater But Not Perfect" - Product Review by Erik Lust (Posted on 1/22/09)

Great!

Comments: This heater was perfect for my application; the only problem I have is that the thermostat is a bit coarse.... if I set it to turn on when the tank is 78 it won't turn off till the tank is around 81 or 82. Luckly, my tank runs at the same temp without a heater almost always so it's not much of an issue. Probably I'll get a temperature controller and run the thing with that.

"Turtles Love It!" - Product Review by Robert Bernier (Posted on 8/28/08)

Excellent!

Comments: The heater works exceptionally well. I have a pair of Red-eared sliders and had a tough time finding a way to heat the water to 78-80 degrees and keep the turtles from touching the heating element. Heater installed easily inline with the return tube and keeps the water at a balmy 79.5 degrees perfectly. Highly reccomend!!

Great!

Comments: Perfect heater except for the on and off click when the heater activates and deactivates. Holds proper temp and nothing looks better than a heater you can't see.

"Works great!" - Product Review by Robert Korlishin (Posted on 12/14/07)

Comments: Just bought my second one of these for a freshwater planted, the other is on a reef tank. Keeps temperatures stable, gets the heater hardware out of the tank and doesn't restrict flow. It does what it's supposed to. Nice when products do that.

Great!

Comments: Very stable temp, the only problem I had was that it leaked a little from both ends at first try. I had to use teflon tape on both ports and that fixed the problem. My filter is the Fluval 405. I really like the fact that there is no worry about my large fish breaking an internal heater and the tank looks a lot nicer without the internal heater.

Comments: Excellent product, well worth the price because it just works. This is our second unit which, like the first, we use with a 125-gallon fresh water tank serviced by Hagen Fluval 304 canister filters. Two big advantages: (1) no unsightly heater(s) in the tank and (2) superb temperature control with just one unit per tank.
