"Excellent"
- Product Review by Nicole Hamilton

Comments: I've been running the same two Hydor Flo deflectors since 09/09 and still love them. I've run them on Maxi-Jet 1200s, 900s, and 600s (barely spins on 400s.) Yes, they do clog and are delicate, but regular cleaning and gentle handling keep them in great shape. A much cheaper alternative than a wave-maker.

"Works Great!"
- Product Review by Jim Aubrey
(Posted on 7/27/12)

Comments: I wanted to give my Nano Cube flow to different areas instead of just straight ahead right at the glass. This works perfectly. I think both my fish and corals are enjoying the flow from different angles versus always getting blown the same direction. Very happy with this accessory.

"good buy"
- Product Review by Scott Parkins
(Posted on 6/3/12)

Comments: I have used 2 of these for 1 year now. They continue to perform well, the fittings work better on some powerheads than others. What I found is if you heat up the size just smaller than fits over, you can stretch it on and it will not come off. After 6 months or so the unit would occasionally stop rotating and by pushing it towards the powerhead it will start again and go for another month. Possibly too much clearance between the gears from wear. All together a great buy, I would recommend this to others. I do not recommend it for high output pumps. (over 500 gph)

Comments: I upgraded one of the stock pumps in my Red Sea Max 130D with a MaxiJet 1200. I added this deflector to the Maxi-Jet and it works wonders so far. My corals are extending like i have never seen them do before. Great Water movement and addition for nano tanks.

"Works as expected"
- Product Review by Jonathan Cortes
(Posted on 3/13/12)

Comments: It's been Installed for a good while now and it has not made any noise at all and has not been dislocated in any way by any of my snails, maybe some people need to use the correct fittings lol...in using any kind of deflector (any brand) u may want to up size your water pump as it lowers the GPH. I'm still using the stock pump in my biocube 14 mushroom and zoanthid tank but will be upgrading pump soon

"Hydor flow"
- Product Review by Andrew Doussept
(Posted on 2/16/12)
-
Comments: It was easy to install, and it does rotate the flow. My fish seemed happy, not sure about my corals yet.

It was easier to feed my fish, even with the water flow on. As the food moved around the tank in a more natural fashion.

I brought two, so next i need to buy a Y loctite adapter, and place 2 in my tank.

With one, you will get better water movement in your tank, but two will cover all areas.

As well, you need a bigger (upgrade) pump to get really good wave action going.

"Hydro Flo a good deal"
- Product Review by Randolph Beaudry
(Posted on 9/15/11)
-
Comments: I have two HydroFlo deflectors on power heads mounted in a 35 gal saltwater aquarium. I just replaced my first set, which I purchased about 5 or 6 years ago - a pretty good run. While the water deflectors don't deliver the flow or dynamics of a more complex system with timers and specialized power heads, it does a very nice job of creating an environment with a constantly changing water flow. I figure it gets you about 75% of the way to a $400 system. Not a bad deal.

Comments: I been using this product since 4 years ago, I love it but I also hate it! The reason I love it since there aren't any product like that in the market, and it does help a lot for the water movement in my aquarium. I hate it because for some unknow resons, lately this product break down so easy, usually only last for 2 weeks..

"Works but..."
- Product Review by Joe Westwood
(Posted on 6/19/10)

Comments: This is such a great concept from Hydor. If only they wouldn't build them so cheaply! I have 2, both of which stopped working at exactly the same time 3 months after purchase. Hydor was kind enough to send free replacement gears for free. The device truly makes a big difference in my reef. They bring fantastic flow to dead spots in the tank. Just plan that they will fail after about 3 months of use.

"Great for Nano Tank"
- Product Review by Sherrod Allen
(Posted on 6/1/10)
-
Comments: This is a great way to get more circulation in your Nano tank. Being that other powerheads and wavemakers are way to big for a small tank of 14-28 gallons, this little guy can give you that wave effect that your corals and fish crave. Yeah....it might go out after a year or so..but if you can afford a reef tank, you can afford to replace the components.

"Hydor Flo makes low cost wave"
- Product Review by Lawrence Seldin
(Posted on 5/3/10)
-
Comments: The Hydor Flow Water Deflector is very cheaply priced so it's worth it to try. It is used so that you can take a directional power head and have it shoot in a circular direction. The item is not adjustable by the user however, the wave made is good. It does cut down the power of the gph, so you may want to use a much larger power head than you would otherwise use. However, be careful, this model will break when the powerhead is great than 310 gph or so.

In summary, it is an excellent product value for the little bit of cost.

- Product Review by Tyler Borsack
(Posted on 4/13/09)

Comments: This little addition will do just what it says, it snaps on to MOST powerheads and will spin around while it diflects the flow. I would recomend this product, but only under the right circumstances. you get what you pay for with this little gadget, its cheap and easy to add on, but dosnt really make that big of a difference in my tank, I ended up taking it off in the end and using a the Natural Wavemaker/powerstrip with two Koralia 4's.

Pros: Rotates and creates different flow, Cheap, Easy, Simple

Cons:I had to modify my powerhead to get it to fit, Very low flow (it cut my flow way back), Can only handle small flow to begin with, Very bulky and sticks out vert far. It's not for everyone

"Good but not Great"
- Product Review by Nicholas Arismendi
(Posted on 6/4/08)
-
Comments: This is a good option if you have multiple flow points. It will restrict flow where attached but for $15 it's well worth the purchase price. I had ordered two but realized that it restricted my flow too much, but one works well. Many adaptors provided for multiple uses. Good for wave action but not for a large area. Therefore good but not great.

"Good Product"
- Product Review by Jonathan Overton
(Posted on 3/17/08)

Comments: I have had this for over a year. Mine has never broken just needed to be cleaned. I really don't see how these can break like people say. There is some back flow due to the propeller but there is quite a bit of flow coming out of it, and i don't have it on a powerful powerhead. The ONLY problem i had was it didn't fit on my powerhead. Nothing a zip tie wont fix. I just customized it so it would fit.

"Working great"
- Product Review by Scott Thompson
(Posted on 1/13/08)
-
Comments: I bought the Flo to get more multi-directional water flow, and all my coral seems to love it. I first attached the Flo to a Maxijet 1200, but that ended up blowing a big hole in the substrate, so I swapped the 1200 out for a 900, and its been great since then. My coral have all seemed to extend even more than before with the Flo, and now my tank has multi-directional flow, which is always beneficial. The Flo comes with four different attachments for different powerheads, and installs in less than a minuet. Its the easiest thing to install and the benefits are worth it, plus its about 15$ cheaper here then at my LFS.

"dunno"
- Product Review by Josh Adams
(Posted on 1/2/08)
-
Comments: I have had this one for well over a year. they do not like floating debris, as it gets in the gears and stops the rotation. it does reduce the flow from the powerhead(heck it uses the water pressure to make it rotate). i use it just to add a little difference to my tank (set at the back and middle of the tank pointing forward), I do like it. cheap version of a wave maker but you would have to step up a pump size or two and use 2-3 and it would be awsome.

"Awesome"
- Product Review by Lindy Korus
(Posted on 12/17/07)
-
Comments: There is no better wave maker in the reef market. The fittings are suited for any round output pump so you can choose your own flow rate, though a smaller, less flow pump is best in my opinion since the wave is somewhat localized. They never stop workin and if you ever decide to move the wave in the tank it is easily removed and transfered to another pump. I have two at different flow rates in my 95 gallon reef and both fish and coral alike, love the ever changing water flow. This is ideal for mimicing the flow of the ocean.

"Thumbs up!"
- Product Review by Glenn Macdonald
(Posted on 11/14/07)
-
Comments: I decided to try one of these 6 months ago and am very pleased with the results (especially considering the low cost).

I have mine on a powerhead attached to my overflow so it's aimed along the back glass. This produces multiple surges per rotation because of the deflection off the back. There's some loss of pressure but the corals have definitely responded well to the surging.

I'll be adding one to my second tank any day now...

"great for the price"
- Product Review by Gary Dodge
(Posted on 11/11/07)
-
Comments: These don't work as well as $1500 Tunze system with controller...but what do you expect for about $10? For a smaller tank or the reefer on a budget, these are a great way to diffuse the straight stream from powerheads or sump returns.

They will occasionally jam (usually from a small snail wedged into the back) and will need to be removed for a quick scrub brush cleaning when doing other tank maintenance.

I've got 7 in service now and have never had one break or "die".

"water deflector"
- Product Review by Saul Wasserman
(Posted on 10/17/07)
-
Comments: Definitely improved the water circulation in my tank, eliminating a few areas of horrible purple algae. However, these guys don't seem to last very long--the problem is the central rotor--they come apart by squeezing the rotor shaft and sliding it off. Over time the plastic gives way and they stop rotating.

- Product Review by Edward Ricca
(Posted on 8/22/07)

Comments: I have a 36" 45 gallon deep reef tank. I have 2 Rio 800 powerheads, one on each side on my tank and both with the Hydor water deflectors. I placed them just below the surface and aimed them at each other. They work great at eliminating dead spots and creating a shimmer effect with Solaris LED fixture. Until Im ready to spend 4 or 5 hundred dollars on a better set up these will do. I feel they are a great value.
