The Kent Marine Phos Reactor is primarily intended to be used with phosphate-removal media such as Kent Power Phos and Phosphate Sponge, however it may be used with numerous filtration media to best suit the changing needs of the aquarium. Depending on the choice of media, the Phos Reactor may be used as a fluidized-bed filter, exposing the maximum amount of the media’s surface area to aquarium water, hence increasing filtration efficiency.

It may be employed as a hang-on-tank or in-sump filter, depending on your aquarium set up. The Phos Reactor can be used in many different applications and accepts Power Phos, Phosphate Sponge, Bio Bind, Reef Carbon, Nitrate Sponge, Organic Adsorption Resin, Copper Sponge, Mixed-Bed Resin.

The Phos Reactor is built from high-quality acrylic and ABS, and utilizes a special twist-lock head that eliminates the need for tedious thumb-screws. The intelligent design of the Phos Reactor makes set-up very simple; in contrast to competing filters, no additional elbows or other plumbing pieces are required for basic operation.

"Lack of Important Part" - Product Review by Harold Lane (Posted on 3/15/12)

Comments: I have begun to set up my Kent Phosphate Reactor and as I read the instructions and check the box I noticed an immprtant part not included. There is no ball valve included which is a very important part for the flow of media in the container. The instructions notes on paage two of the instructions line 9 that "the" ball valve should be sdjusted for correct flow of the media. Two Little Fishies includes the call valve in their product. You will find that it is not easy finding an inline 1/2" ball valve unless you have a pool supply store in your area. A hardware can make one up but the size is so large it is unslightly. Unless you are locating the container close to the pump unit needed the hose included is too short. I just hope it doesn't leak like I have read in other articles.

    Excellent!

Comments: Love these little reactors. I own 4 and plan on buying 4 more.I have ten 75 gallon frag tanks,I have GEO,VERTEX,and NEXTREEF reactor on all of them, but these little reactors from kent I move from tank to tank. Never had one leak, I had two, 150 two little fishies reactor both leaked around the connection fittings. I highly recommend the Kent for carbon or GFO. I use a maxijet 606 on them. Thanks Greg

    Excellent!

Comments: I own an aquarium maintenance company and I currently have 8 of these running on various client tanks.

I've never had one issue with them and the build quality is very satisfactory. Its solid acrylic and I have never had an issue. They require less modification then the two little fishes reactors which makes setup a breeze.

I've only had one leak and that was after two years of use, and the gasket was worn. All I needed to do was replace the gasket and its been great ever since. considering its use, 2-3 years is probably all you will get out of one gasket. maybe 5 if your lucky... not bad.

overall, great product. I've been using them for around 3 years now and have been very happy.

"Don't Buy!" - Product Review by John Flanagan (Posted on 12/27/08)

    Unsatisfactory

Comments: I have both this reactor and the two little fishies reactor...this one is junk! the construction is super cheap, it was like they cut the fittings with a hack saw, no ends were square. the o-ring was oversized for the groove and does not seat properly which may have lead to the lid coming undone which flooded my house. It had to be modified to ensure it would not come undone unexpectedly, again. for the money and the construction , buy the two little fishies one!

Comments: This thing is junk the elbow joints leak returned it got a second one and the same thing the elbow joints leaks. For the money I would expect this thing not to leak from the start.

Comments: The build quality of this product is marginal (the first one a received leaked at one of the glue joints) but for the money it works well. I made new filter disks out of 50 micron filter material since those supplied are rather course. The design makes it hard to load (when material is wet from rinsing). The cost to manufacture this reactor is likely $4-$5. There is room in the market for a better product but for $40, this is the best out there. MD was very good about the return.

Comments: One of the elbow joints leaks even though they are glued. Not a big deal but I will have to add some epoxy to keep it from leaking since I hang it external. I specifically bought this model because of the glued elbows that take the water back over the tank. I figured it would have less chance of a leak. So of course mine ends up leaking anyway.
