"LaMotte Test Kit"
- Product Review by Rob Kiser

Comments: My daughter is working on a science project which requires water testing. She chose the LaMotte Calcium Hardness Fresh and Salt Water Test Kit 3609. So far, she is extremeley happy with this kit. She volunteered for a marine rescue center in Florida this past summer and this is the kit they used there. So, she decided to get the kit that she was familiar with. She has plans on becoming a marine biologist in college next year. Thanks for a great test kit and for the fast shipping from the company. It is everything we hoped for! Thumbs up for outstanding customer service!!!

Comments: Gives great results but the titrator is a little difficult to maneuver while mixing and watching for color change at the same time.

Comments: Easy to understand. High Quality. Accurate. I love the fact that I can buy replacement chemicals for it as well. I wish they made a magnesium kit.

"Dissapointment"

Comments: You expect this kit to live up to the LaMotte name, and unfortunatly it does not. I love the other test kits LaMotte makes but this one is too difficult to spot the final color change, and it is a pain to have to mix the sample with distilled water that is not supplied. Im keeping all of my other LaMotte test kits, but going back to Salifert for Calcium tests.

"Complicated Test Kit"
- Product Review by Michael Obujen

Comments: I'm always on the look out for accurate test kits, especially with calcium and alk. I use the LaMotte Alk test kit and really like it. The LaMotte Alk kit is easy to use and provides a very specific reading. The color change is very obvious. I was expecting the same from the LaMotte Calcium test kit, but, unfortunately, I was very disapponted. The Calcium kit is well made and appears to be very accurate (if you can distinguish the final color change), but it is complicated to use for salt water, having to mix 1.0ml of test water with 11.9ml of distilled water. The color change from pink to purple is easy to see but the final color change from purple to blue is very hard to differentiate. I wouldn't buy this test kit again.

I've tried another brand that is made by an Italian company that is just getting started in the US. Their calcium test kits, although not as specific in it's final reading, are much easier to use and made to a very high standard. This will be the calcium test kit I use in the future.

"So-So"

Comments: The accuracy was pretty good. However, the extra step of diluting the sample with ro/di makes this kit more difficult to use than the Salifert or the API. More chance for error IMO.

"Hard To Decipher Color Change!"

Comments: This is another very high quality kit from Lamotte. The main problem is detecting the blue to purple color change at end point. It just dosent seem to work. If you cant decipher the end point, than the kit is worthless.
