"C-220 Canister filter"
- Product Review by Eric Ramsey

Comments: I bought this filter to replace the Emperor 400 on my 55 gallon FOWLR tank. The Emperor 400 worked great but it was somewhat noisy from the Bio wheels splashing, I wanted to "quiet" the tank and since I have 50-55lbs of cycled Figi live rock, I didn't need the Bio wheels anyway. I wanted the much larger chemical filtration capacity of a canister so I bought the C220. I wanted the C360 but it was too large to fit under my cabinet stand. Set up was fairly straightforward but hoses are stiff and are WAY to long and will have to be cut up to a foot or more for a standard 30" high stand. Priming was a chore but once the canister was filled fully and I plugged it in it ran smoothly and very quietly. Be sure to hand tighten hose nuts on output valve block as tight as they will go. I completly agree with last poster, the leaking was a manufacturing defect over two years ago. It has long been resolved and if someone buys a current model and has a leaking issue, then they haven't installed the filter properly.

"Reason for leaking..."
- Product Review by Britton Archer

Comments: For those who are unsure of this product because of leaking. I just read this from a different website:
<br />
<br />"While researching reviews of this filter on the Internet, you will come across numerous reports of leaks. This was the result of a manufacturer's defect that occurred during several production runs. This problem has since been resolved. Once discovered, Marineland issued a recall of all affected filters, replacing both the Motorhead and valve blocks. My C-360 was one of these. Even though my filter was out of warranty, Marineland replaced my valve block and motorhead, free of charge. I have had no issues since. If purchasing a new filter, the leak concerns with this filter are no greater than with any other canister filter. I am perfectly comfortable both using and recommending the C-Series filters. In summary on this issue, it is a part of the past and not a valid concern on currently manufactured filters."
<br />
<br />I noticed the earlier reviews spoke of leaking. And the newer reviews do not. It's because Marineland fixed this issue by recalling their filters. I hope most of those people let the company know that their filters were leaking. If not, that was the customer's own mistake.

"improper reassembly"

Comments: I have been running a magnum c series filter for almost 2 years now.Not one problem has ever happened with this unit. I have been reading all of these bad reviews about how they leak,that you can't buy replacement parts for them! Yes,if you clamp the unit back together with the gaskets inproperly installed they will leak and more than likely you will damage or destroy the gasket and YES you can buy replacement parts for them, for example the gasket that is probably the one getting damaged from negligence in reasembly after routine maintenance.these are a great filters at a reasonable price.

"Awesome filter!!"

Comments: First off, with my 46 gallon bow front- I got a Magnum 350- What a pain the wasnooski!!! Cleanings were a pain and there were really no place to put more than 1 type of media in the canister. I did some looking around and came across these new canister filters from Marineland. Let me tell you-- What a blessing. Cleanings are a breeze and absolutely no leaks whatsoever- despite all the reviews of them leaking. I got to put the priming option to use and it worked perfectly-- two pumps and the water was flowing into the canister. I absolutely love this thing and I would highly recommend it to anyone. Solidly built and just a God send for me. This thing cleans better than that Magnum 350 ever did- and it keeps it clean for a long time!!! It is way overrated for my tank but that is the best thing to do anyways. DOn't hesitate on this virtually no bypass filter--- It is awesome!!!

"Great Filter"

Comments: Hi,
<br />
<br />This has been a great filter to start with a new 46 gallon fresh water planted tank. About 20 fish as well. The filter is built solid and works well. Priming is a lot longer than they show. It takes a quite a few more than 2 pumps the first time. Fill up your can with water before you start priming the first time.
<br />
<br />It is very quiet and cleans very well. We use this with a second filter a in tank whisper 20i in case of power failure the whisper will always restart...
<br />
<br />I would buy this filter system again!
<br />
<br />Thanks,
<br />
<br />Jon

"Poor Craftsmanship"

Comments: I purchased the 160 and after about 6 months it began leaking from main seal and inlet/outlet connections. I placed the filter in a container to catch the water and made it work for another 6 months. Now, after a year, the impeller rod has broken and caused the pump to stop working. This filter is not worth the headache.

"Works well but..."

Comments: This filter does a great job of filtering, however I was disappointed to learn after receiving it that it has to sit >20 inches below the aquarium. I had planned on using it in the sump not the display tank. I have a similar sized Eheim on another tank that does not have this requirement. I guess thats why Eheim's are more expensive!

"Great canister!"
- Product Review by Armando Ceja

Comments: The marineland c series canister, was well designed. With bioballs
<br />Activated carbon, large filter, ceramic rings, and a polishing filter, it
<br />Truly makes this canister a winner. My saltwater looks crystal clear
<br />No more greenish water. I purchased the c-320 it is whisper quiet
<br />I can't even hear it working unless I touch the canister. I've own it for almost 2 weeks,
<br />And have not come across any downsides. It is self priming. All u do is pump a few times and it's done. Trust me you'll have no regrets. I was gonna buy the eheim top models
<br />But for the money it's not worth it. This canister is affordable and
<br />It performs at par or better than eheim.

Comments: I have the smaller version for a 50gallon tank which is doing fine. But this one the 360-C I am using for my saltwater tank, just started to leak from one of the 4 clamps on top after 6 months of use.

Comments: I purchased this filter to replace my 10 year plus old Fluval canister filter and in under a year it has begun leaking from the top as described in the other reviews. Very POOR design considering that one of the KEY FEATURES for a filter should be to filter and NOT LEAK WATER all over your floor in the process!!!

"Excellent canister filter"

Comments: I waited to review this until I did my first media replacement. This filter is great! It's very well made, and is very easy to do maintenance. I use phosguard in place of one of the two carbon bags. it's also virtually silent. It even looks great - very unobtrusive. I highly recommend this filter.

"Great Product"

Comments: The product works great, so far everything I have read has been correct, so we also bought 2 C160. If the product fails, I will revise this review, for right now we are pleased with the product. The only thing I don't like is that the stores don't carry the filter refills and you end up having to order on line.

"POOR QUALITY"
- Product Review by Floyd Anderson

Comments: I have owned this same canister for almost 5 months. It ran well and did it's job for that time. The last week the top has been leaking. I figured it was just an o-ring. So I went to my local fish store and found that the required o-ring is not on the market. However being kind they allowed me to take one from a returned c360. I hooked it up and it ran well for about 2 hours then it started to leak again. After about 5 hours of me trying to figure out why this was leaking I came to the conclusion that it is not the o-ring but the canister itself. So I went down to the fish store and asked if I could borrow the c360 they have for trouble shooting purposes. I changed the canister first, no luck. Then I changed the power head and still it leaked. POOR POOR POOR quality. Seems to me the one I borrowed was returned for the same thing.

Comments: Well i had this filter for awhile now and i work in a fish store and i loved it. How ever!!! after a few months people kept bringing it back and saying that it leaks. Well ok sure np we will just replace an oring or a part and happy customer.!!!!! o wait Marineland does nto have any parts for this product, we have been looking for them for months and months and nothing. And nothing on there webpage, so we dont sell it anymore.
<br />
<br />And unfortunetly mine just started to leak so instead of spending 5 bucks on an o-ring like i should i have to spend 150 on a new filter......

Comments: Filter was relatively easy to assemble. Instructions were pretty clear.
<br />
<br />It runs quielty and smoothly. Starts easier than a Fluval. So far it is keeping my water very clear. An excellent filter especially considering its low cost.
