little disappointed Product Review by KURT SCHMIDT (Posted on 2/26/14)

Comments: Until now I have used the maxi jet conversion (circulation pump) on the old style jets. These work pritty well and are affordable. My hopes for the new maxi jet 1200 was that the propeller would not bind up or get off balanced this tends to make a lot of noise and startle the fish. ( the old style with the conversion do this) Unfortunately the new pumps have this same problem with the factory provided circulation pump conversion. As a standard power head this product works great i use them for several other applications. But I would not recomend it for a circulation pump.

Always reliable Product Review by Fred Oehmke (Posted on 2/26/14)

Excellent!

Comments: I have purchased many MJ1200 pumps throughout my aquarium hobby career and have never been disappointed. They are sturdy, reliable, consistent and affordable. I bought two of these for my JBJ28 nano to swap out the stock return pumps. These run much quieter at 10% more flow. As always, thank you MarineDepot for the great service.

Loud starting but lots of flow Product Review by MATT THOMAS (Posted on 2/26/14)

Comments: I would not use the larger prop with a wave maker. it is extremely clunky and loud on each start. Also as with many pumps the suction cups are not reliable. overall for cost a great product

idk if its even worth the cost Product Review by ROBERT THORNE (Posted on 2/26/14)

Comments: Noisy with the powerhead mod. If you pull the large impeller apart, and put a tiny piece of tube on the shaft between the two white pieces, it creates a little resistance to help it not rattle. downside is then it struggles to start once submerged. this thing wants nothing else but to start in reverse. IF you can get it quiet and running, it seems good as long as you never turn it off. They also get warm and slightly heat the surrounding water, Lots of current draw with powerhead impeller. Added three and now the 80 gallon system runs a degree warmer

Cheap Junk Product Review by MICHELLE WALDEN (Posted on 2/26/14)

Unsatisfactory

Comments: the maxi jet 1200 used to be a very well built pump. The new ones they are making now are very cheap. They dont even have a rubber gasket to hold the top on the impeller area any longer so when trying to use it as a return pump, its impossible to keep it together and slip tbe hose on..Really disappointed.
