Nu-Clear 522 Canister Filter - 18 sq. ft. 100 Micron Mechanical Filter Information

It could be difficult to clean a large tank or a whole pond by yourself if you don`t have the right tools. Sometimes, your filter cartridges could break just because of the water pressure when the water is being pumped by your powerheads or wave makers. The solution to this problem is to buy a new one, which can withstand any amount of force and pressure that come with the water blasts. In times like these, your best bet comes in the form of the Nu-Clear 522 Canister Filter from Pet Store.

The Nu-Clear 522 Canister Filter can be fitted in any brand of cleaning system that you own. It features a special, 18 square-feet 100 micron filter, which is one of the reasons why this canister filter is so efficient. Rather than sifting through the pond or aquarium water with a porous, cloth material, this device makes use of activated carbon, which is well-known for its filtration properties.

The Nu-Clear 522 Canister Filter is very easy to install, and it won`t take too much of your time. Whenever the need arises, you should always choose the Nu-Clear 522 Canister Filter if you need to replace your current filter cartridges. It will be the best decision you`ll make when it comes to cleaning your aquarium or pond.

Nu-Clear 500 Series Modular Canister Filters provide the ultimate in aquatic life support systems for consumer and commercial fresh and salt water aquariums, fountains, or ponds. With several mechanical, chemical and biological options to choose from, Nu-Clear filters have the flexibility to fit all your aquarium and pond applications. The different models may be used on their own or in combination with other models to provide the ultimate in filtration systems. The Nu-Clear 500 Series Modular Canister Filters are appropriate for aquariums 50 gallons and up for ponds 300 gallons and up.

Nu-Clear filters feature heavy duty molded PVC construction with a stainless steel lid clamp for secure leak free operation and carry a 2 year guarantee. The filter bodies are approximately 13" wide and 12.5" tall (overall width with fittings is 15”). An additional clearance of 8” above the filter is required to remove the cartridge for cleaning. Nu-Clear filters have 1" FNPT inlet and outlet ports allowing for higher flow rates (up to 1,200 gallons/hr) than similar filters with 3/4” ports. All models come with adapters for 3/4" and 1" hose, stainless steel hose clamps, pipe seal tape, and a drain valve.

MODEL 522
18 sq. ft. 100 Micron Mechanical & Carbon Filter
Perfect for ponds and freshwater tanks. This 18 sq. ft. 100 micron poly-screen cartridge does not trap debris in the fibers of the material like other cartridges, so it may be simply rinsed clean and does not require bleaching. This filter will hold 1.5 lbs of activated carbon for absorbing water yellowing compounds and other dissolved organics. Includes pressure gauge and 1.5 lbs of pre-bagged premium Inland Seas Marine and Reef Activated Carbon.

Nu-Clear 522 Canister Filter - 18 sq. ft. 100 Micron Mechanical Filter Reviews

"Crystal Clear Water!" - Product Review by Nathan Anderson (Posted on 6/24/12)

Excellent!

Comments: Bought this as a polisher to use on my return pump to my 180G reef tank. I was having a pretty hard time with micro bubbles and this guy completely solved it. After 24 hours there is a night and day difference in my water clarity.

For reference, my return pump is a Mag 12. The only reason I don't give this 5 stars is the directions that came with the pump are poorly written and have grammar mistakes.

Excellent!

Comments: I didn't wash my GFO before putting it in the reactor and attatching to the tank - my tank looked like a car rusted to death in it, it was a horrible experience. After a day and a half it was barely any better. I figured I should try something I assumed was not needed on a reef tank with a sump - a canister filter. Within 2 (yeah, two) hours, my tank was crystal clear - the water clearer than pre-GFO!! I thought I was gonna have to tear down my tank and start over but this saved my life - the rocks still have a copper hue, but the water is the best it's ever been!!!

Great!

Comments: High quality filter. The only problem is that you must make sure the lid is tightened very well, or it leaks. Other than that, it is a great product.

"Great Filter" - Product Review by Shawn Creviston (Posted on 1/12/11)

Comments: This filter works great on my 125g saltwater reef fish tank. I have had it for a few months now and my water quality has improved visually, I have had no negative effects on my water tests. I just recently replaced some of my sand which stirred up a lot of trapped debris in the sand and made the water cloudy, but after not even an hour you could see the water clearer. About 4 hours later there was hardly a trace that any disturbance had occurred. I am running the filter with a 1100 gallon/hour pump in a split loop system, meaning my return pump is separate from my filter pump, but due to the great flow through the filter I am able to filter more water then the return pump can cycle. I had a Fluval Fx5 that worked ok, but this Nu-Clear filter much easier to clean, better water flow, and better cleaning performance. I would recommend this to anyone.

"Nu-Clear 535 w/carbon" - Product Review by Christopher Craver (Posted on 9/30/10)

Excellent!

Comments: I set up a new 210 gallon cichlid tank recently. I am using a Proclear 200g wet/dry and 1 Nu-clear 535 w/carbon chamber inside. I bought the Nu-clear after much research for an additional but, separate filter system for this tank set up. I actually thought the water was clear before I started up the Nu-clear. Hah! The water clarity improved to a sparkling clean I have never before seen in any aquarium. This filter rocks! The only issues are that you need to be a little handy to hook it up. You need to have a pressure rated pump - I bought a used Iwaki that had 16 psi head. it works fine and has plenty of outflow. The last issue is that the filter seem to be able to only be cleanable (cleaned ) twice them they are to clogged to use. The filters are a little pricey but, the last several months. GET ONE and experience what clear water really is!

Comments: I love this filter. It is well constructed and heavy duty. I have a little problem in that it was supposed to come with a guage but there was no guage in the box. Hopefully, they will get me one shortly. The fileter itself it great and easy to hook up. I'd recommend this to anyone.

Comments: Well made and heavy duty. Good snug fit of the filter cartridge inside the unit. I run this for about 2 hours a week for weekly cleaning/gravel washing. You would be surprised how much detritus accumulates in one week. A leak in the top seal is easily remedied by tightening the screw mechanism,- you have to really crank it tight. A pleasure to use.

Comments: I needed a canister filter to hook up between my 1hp Oceanic chiller and my Turbo-Sea high pressure pump 1110gph. I had a problem with it leaking at first, but I found out that you need to get all the air out using the black turn valve on top of the dome (top). The filter works GREAT no leaks. I would recommend this filter. I had the Ocean Clear canister filter and I will never use it again because of the leaks after purchasing 2 filters. Again you can't go wrong with the Nu-Clear filter.

Excellent!

Comments: I have had the filter up and running for a week now. There are no leaks, as I read on 1 of the reviews. All my fish seems to love the water motion and it was fairly easy to put together. The only items I wish it included was extra clamps for the pump. You must have a pump for this unit. The canister over-all is excellent and I will plan to add another one to it within the next 6 months.

Comments: This is a well made filter but is lacking in a good seal design for the top. I had severe problems getting the top to not leak. It got so bad that I considered not even using the filter as I could not get it to stop leaking. The top connector needs to be re-designed.

Great!

Comments: Fit and finish are excellent. It has improved the water clarity, especially larger particulate's. I've installed it between the pump and my chiller, and the water flow is very good. I need to put a valve on the inlet and out let side, so I can remove the filter for cleaning. I'm thinking of putting some carbon in the center, in a filter bag, in addition to my Phosban reactor. All in all, if you have clarity issue's, this will do the trick. I'm running it with a Mag9, and I'm sure it could handle 1200 GPH plus.

Comments: THIS NU CLEAR IS OUTSTANDING . IT CLEARED AND CLEANED MY 120G FISH AND L/R TANK SPARKLING. BETTER THAN THE EHEIM 2229 I WAS USING . I WILL BUY ANOTHER WHEN I SET UP MY 180G IN 2008. THE INSTRUCIONS ARE A BIT CONFUSING BUT THE TECH SUPPORT MAKES UP FOR IT .
