Comments: I love these lights. I was running t5s but since I installed the Nilus my corals are growing much faster and look more healthy. I have a180 gallon setup I bought 2 of these it covers mostly everything with a little bit of shade in the middle which is perfect for my corals that don't like a lot of light.

Comments: I have the Nilus up and running for a week now. It makes the rock look great. My sps are still getting use to the change. Not to happy with the lighting on the sides of my 55 gal. tank.Set up was easy after looking at the video on line. I may have to get a second light. I hope not.

Comments: I have waited a full two months to evaluate these lights so I can give a productive and honest opinion. I will start by saying that I have a 120 gallon reef tank with a variety of corals (15-20), that has been running continuously for 11 years now. For years I ran CF bulbs and was getting frustrated changing bulbs every nine months and ballasts every three years. I started supplementing with Ecoxotic Panorama modules a couple of years ago, and liked how they performed. After shopping around considerably, I decided on the Orphek Nilus. I have two situated across 72 inches of tank with nothing else. I had to wait weeks to get them, and then one was not working properly. The manufacturer replaced it no problem, but this again took several weeks. However, now that they are running I am very happy. The unit has a sleek design and is attractive to look at even hanging above my tank. The flexibility of controls is great. They are intense lights and I have found they need to be high. After 2 months, I still have them 24 inches above the waterline, and have not lowered them yet. I purchased the wide angle, but they are still not very wide. In terms of coral growth, my purple and green mushrooms now quiver in the shadows, while my clam is loving life. My leather mushrooms that are directly under it are now green, while the ones in the shadows are brown. My hammer coral has doubled in size and I have already had to trim 3 large chunks off my montipora. The montipora has also changed from a brownish tan to a deep red-pink color. I had to move my cactus coral into the shade since it was bleaching somewhat, while the Sinularia and Frogspawn are doing well. All of my hairy mushrooms have green tips on them, while they were all tan before. A rose anenome moved itself out of the direct light, but has double in size in two months. I have several small corals on the bottom of the tank a full 48 inches from the lights and they are all thriving, including a candy c

"Not what I expected"

Comments: Usually I don't write reviews but I felt compel to let people know what my thoughts are. They say first impression is important. Well, I was not impressed. For the cost, this lamp came in a plain brown box package inside the standard box. No pics no instructions. Although the box was well cushioned, it just plainly look crappy. Once setup, the light was too narrow despite the 120 degree lens. I tried lifting the light all the way up to almost 24" above the water line and it really didn't make a difference. My reef is a 65gal (36"long, 18" wide and 24" high). I had hoped that although this light wasn't 36" long, It would still cover the tank with the 120 degrees lens. I was totally wrong. The light might add an extra 1" on all sides...that's it. I had way too many shadows and dark spots in my tank for my liking. It's a shame though since my corals really shine under this lamp. The color is awesome. If you don't mind dark spots or if you can buy enough light (2 in my case), then this light is awesome. If not than look somewhere else. Oh I also forgot to mentioned that customer support is nonexistent. I emailed the company without any reply. I looked all over Orphek and no phone number listed. Very annoying for such an expensive light.

Comments: First, I would like to say that I am running Orphek led lighting exclusively. The new Orphek Nilus is awesome!! Packed very nice and tight in the box. Had this unit fired up in only a few minutes. Programming is easier than my PR156 was and the upgrades are fantastic. This unit ramps up and down smoothly and runs quiet. I will be looking forward to another one of these units in the near future to make my lighting upgrade complete. I am very satisfied with Orphek and have never had a problem with any of my PR25's or my Pr156. Another class act from Orphek!!
