Based on the color-rich, Veggie Deluxe formula, VEGGIE FX is fortified with an addition of a Cyclop-eeze® and NatuRose® coating and is one of our most exotic foods to date. Encapsulated with 100% pure cultured spirulina, freeze-dried Cyclop-eeze® (a crustacean with the highest known levels of carotenoids and "omega-3" fatty acids), NatuRose® (Haemato-coccus algae with a 15,000 ppm astaxanthin content) and E.superba krill, VEGGIE FX contains all natural minerals, nutrients and pigments designed to enhance the color and luster of your cichlids. With six seperate applications of color enhancing ingredients, the color promoting properties are rivaled only by our other specialty formula, COLOR FX.
At the same time, there are absolutely no compromises in the nutritional qualities. Raw, fully potent vitamins, digestive enzymes and garlic ensure that the fish are healthy and free of internal parasites. As in all Dainichi foods, we included calcium montmorillonite clay to simulate the natural uptake of mineral particles as well as to bind and neutralize metabolic toxins. Furthermore, the scouring action of the clay enhances the rejuvenation of the digestive tract which when combined with only two sources of starch (flour as binder and wheat germ as a source of vitamin E and B) ensures the maximum rate of digestion and assimilation of nutrients. The veggie formulas, VEGGIE DELUXE and VEGGIE FX are designed to prevent bloating. Rather than swelling to two or three times their original size, the pellets will break down to their granular state in the digestive tract of a fish. This feature makes it virtually impossible to cause "bloat" in even the most strictest of herbivores such as Tropheus species.
Kelp, white fish meal, soybean meal, wheat flour (binder), shrimp meal, krill, spirulina, wheat germ, freeze-dried Cyclop-eeze®, calcium montmorillonite clay, brewerfs yeast, NatuRose® (Haematococcus algae), vitamin mix, mineral mix, garlic, protease (digestive enzyme) and natural gum.

Feed your fish only as much as they will eat (immediately) in a few minutes, 2 to 4 times daily. Smaller, more frequent feeding are preferred over a single large one. Do not pre-soak the food prior use! Pre-soaking washes out vitamins, color enhancers, other nutrients, and lowers the performance of the food. All Dainichi foods have a low inclusion of starches to prevent excessive swelling in the digestive tract. Pre-soaking of Dainichi cichlid food is absolutely not required nor beneficial!
Centuries of experience have taught the great breeders of Japan that the right combination of nutritious food, water quality and good bloodlines is the key to producing the magnificent koi all enthusiasts dream of collecting. Koi need a finely tuned diet for health and beauty.
Dainichi CICHLID - Veggie FX Sinking Pellet Fish Food
Good Food Not Great
Posted: 8/2/2008 from OCOEE, FL UNITED STATES
These pellets are coated and it makes them very hard for the fish to bite. They seem to enjoy it though. I have noticed a grease slick on the top of the water after using this food. I will finish up the bag but I think I will stay with New Life Spectrum. The Dainichi was worth trying but the fish don't seem to eat it as ravenously as the NLS. It's pretty expensive too. Might be a good supplement but I wouldn't recommend it as a daily staple food.

A must for Tropheus keepers

I initially purchased the smaller bag and from the moment I dropped a few pellets in the tank our Tropheus were hooked. They still eat spirulina but now act a little crabby about it (I'm not throwing it out, you guys have to eat it!). When I feed them the Veggie FX they absolutely flip out, even moreso than the NLS formula for cichlids. It's a ton of fun to watch your fish eat something they love.
The other part I really like is marinedepot.com did a great job in reviewing the product, even going so far to make the bold claim this food nearly eliminates the possibility of bloat. This is the only product I'm aware of on the market that even mentions the "B" word, much less offers it as one method to prevent the dreaded illness from striking.
Again best product I've found for Tropheus out there. And with a beuatiful Ilangi on the cover how can you go wrong?

Excellant food for my Tropheus moorii. Baby size is great for my mid size and smaller Tropheus. This size bag will last me months.
