Dog Leashes, Leads, Collars and Harnesses
Dog leashes—also called dog leads—are ropes, cords or chains attached to the neck or head of a dog for control or restraint. A dog leash can be attached to a dog’s collar or harness. Leashes and leads most commonly attach to a metal clip located on the dog collar or harness. Dog leashes are used for walking dogs in public places, like city sidewalks and parks, or for training purposes. Retractable dog leashes have become extremely popular in recent years because they are comfortable for both the dog and their owner. Dog leashes are made using rope, leather, nylon or metal. Leashes double as fashion accessories with many colors, patterns and prints available. Dog owners often use colored leashes and collars to distinguish the gender of their pet.
