"Ok"

Comments: I know there is controversy about the efficacy of this product, but after having an Ich outbreak in my main tank, I removed and quarantined all the fish for six weeks and treated the fish with copper-safe, I used Kick-Ich in the main tank "just in case" before adding back any of the fish, note that it is a 13 day treatment so I started it two weeks before returning the fish. It did not harm any of the corals, or any of the inverts and no ich return. If I ever had another outbreak again I would try this before removing all the fish again.

Comments: I tried this treatment on my tank because I didn't have a large enough QT for all of my fish to fit in. I had a huge Ich break-out. I purchased this knowing that it was safe for reefs and inverts. Well it is, but I lost all but one fish. I lost an Atlantic blue tang, a yellow tang, a maroon clown, algae blenny, mystery wrasse.

I only had ich on the tangs and the algae blenny. After the first treatment, the algea blenny died. The next treatment the yellow tang and maroon clown died. The following treatment the atlantic blue and wrasse died. I still have one fish and all my shrimp, hermit crabs, emerald crabs and snails...

NOT WORTH IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Comments: I have been using this product for 5 days in my 75gal reef tank and all the spots are gone from my fish, no more "flashing" ect. I was told to quarentine and treat with copper but before that I though I would give this a try, I'm glad I did. My inverts, nem and corals never flinched like they did when using melafix. Great product so far.

Comments: I have gone through 3 bottles of kick ich and have had no luck curing my fish. All three times ich won and killed my saltwater fish. Would not reccomend kick ich. I tried using it in my QT tank thinking that might work out better, but I still lost my fish.

Comments: I had good luck using this product to fight ich and what looked to be that "velvet" disease. Follow the directions and turn off any protein skimmer that is running. I had a pretty nasty outbreak and this product helped take care of it. I also tried to bring up the temperature of the tank to around 80-82 degrees.

Comments: Well, today is day 15 of the 15 Day Treatment. The tomato clown and the rabbitfish seem to still have what looks to be the remnants of ick. The flame angel was showing spots here and there but those seem to be gone. Yellow tangs and Tennenti tang look great. I'll be doing a 20% water change tomorrow and getting the skimmer going again. At this point, I am happy with the Ruby Reef Kick-Ich product.

Comments: Started Ruby Reef Kick-Ich after noticing one of my fish had ICH dosing the tank every other day which is the max dose. But the fish died anyway on day 6. On day 3 two more fish showed signs of ICH as well. One is still living but the other died quicker than the first fish. On a positive the other fish in the tank are showing no signs of ICH.

"playing hopscotch works better"
- Product Review by Marty Meyer
(Posted on 6/16/10)
-
Comments: #1-product crashes your ph. I was using aquavitro additive 8.4 and beginning ph was at 8.4. Ph dropped to 7.8 WITH the buffer system in place. I am afraid to know what it would have dropped down to without it.
#2-Fish still had ich after the 15 day "treatment period" even though I followed the instuctions for the "severe infestation". Proper dosage was administered and triple checked.
#3- killed my squid ink xenias. Not so reef safe.

All in all, don't buy. Do a freshwater dip and set up a quarantine tank...that is what I ended up having to do. Product is a joke. Don't waste your money....not worth a penny...like the title says, playing hopscotch would cure your ich problem better than this product.

"Kick-Ich"
- Product Review by Calvin Wilkinson

Comments: I have used Kick-Ich in the past. The first time it worked great. The second time it did not work at all. With my current outbreak of ich, I have removed all of my fish from the tank and put them in a hospital tank and have teated them with Ruby Reef Hydroplex. I will keep them in the hospital tank for 28 days. This is the time period that the liturature says the Ich cycsts can survive. During this quarentine period, I am also treating the tank with Kick-Ich. Hopefully, I will finally be done with ICH. P.S. I currently quarantine all new fish.

Comments: I had a light breakout and was told this product was OK to use by my LFS whos opinion I hold in high regaurd.

1st treatment OK, 2nd treatment small drop in PH, had LFS double check and was told slight drop OK and could use a little buffer.

3rd treatment PH CRASH... all soft corals gone in 2-3 hours, fish dying.. forced emergancy water change... more buffer to raise PH, hardly anything is still alive..lost 95% of stock

Small outbreak on 1 fish casued complete devisatation by use of this product in 150 gallon tank.

"Safe, but Ineffective"
- Product Review by Peter Bilotta
(Posted on 7/27/09)
-
Comments: I used Ruby Reef Kick-Ich for a complete treatment cycle and then some in my 30 gallon reef system. It is truly reef safe, as the three-week treatment had absolutely no ill-effect on any of my soft or LPS corals. Regrettably, it also had little to no effect on the Ich. Your results may differ, but it is a very expensive product for minimal results.

"Works great if caught early!"
- Product Review by Stephen Dean
(Posted on 6/8/09)
-
Comments: Well to resound what has been said, catch it early (within the first week or better yet the first few days!) and you have won half the battle. I had a slight case of marine ick appear after I added my powder blue tang into my display tank. I choose to go ahead and treat the tank with Kick Ick using the directions for severe cases to be even more proactive. I have normally used hyposalinity but this time I did not want to remove all the inverts. and liverocks if I could help it. Kick It had eliminated any visible parasites from my fish prior to the last two treatments, but due to the nature of the parasite's life cycle you WILL continue to follow thur with the full treatment. I have even purchased another large bottle to follow up with a full second treatment cycle to ensure it is completely effective. I strongly suggest that you plan on purchasing enough for a full month because of the dormant stage of crypto can last up to that amount of time and that way you can kill any later hatchings. Good luck and catch it early if you can!

"THIS PRODUCT WORKS!!!"
- Product Review by Magalie Kieduk
(Posted on 5/10/09)
-
Comments: If you catch ich in time and are sure your fish has ich, it works. If you waited 2 weeks to buy this, you're probably screwed and will lose your fish.
I've used it in the past and it cleared ich. I lost 2 fish as it was too late for them but all the other fish are doing great. This product can kill some corals so be careful! I lost a leather but it's better than losing all my fish. I used this product for about 1 month. 2 weeks is not enough as the parasites can live for up to 30 days.
Check your water quality as that may play into why you're fish got ich.

"It Works"
- Product Review by Steven Hendricks
(Posted on 12/14/08)
-
Comments: I used this with very decent results.

No, it won't kick it as fast as copper, but do you really want something as toxic as copper in your tank? Give it some time. It does work on ich.

I am wondering if the negative comment writers really had ick or not. They make a Ruby med for Ood too, which looks a lot like ich on a fish, but this med states it is not intended for other diseases.

When I had an outbreak I used both meds simultaneously (although I am pretty sure it was an ich outbreak) with good success. I did loose one fish before I could kick the stuff. That is the only reason I give it four stars instead of five... it works, but not fast enough for more delicate fish. Of course, if I had it on hand the day I noticed the outbreak, it may have done the trick in time.

Water quality is good, maybe I waited to long to treat it was almost 2 wks.I had better luck with garlic in their frozen food. After I added 1st dose they got really bad within 1 week of treatment 4 fish died.I guess as a last ditch effort maybe this was worth a try but didnt help in time.

"A product that actuallyworks"
- Product Review by James Garrett
(Posted on 6/14/08)

Comments: We tried every product over a two month period to kill the white spotted parasites that were attacking our fish, after purchasing a fish that apparently had the parasites from a new vendor, we started loosing fish within three days of placing it in our large tank. Every product we tried or method that was recommended to save our fish failed and we lost over half of our fish. Our normal vendor had a sample of Ruby Reef Kick-Ich and we tried it. Immediately within the first day we saw a difference in thier appearance and ordered more from Marine Depot. We have not lost another fish since and our invertabrates were fine. I highly recommend this product, and have suggested to friends already to purchase it. I would suggest that every person that maintains a saltwater system keep it on hand because you never know when you will buy that one fish that appears healthy and you or water that has the parasites in it. Thanks to Ruby Reef our fish are fully recovered and we are introducing new fish to our system and have not seen any new parasites.

"works great"
- Product Review by Greg Ching
(Posted on 5/6/08)
-
Comments: As long as you catch the ich within a week or so the fish can survive. First of all it's not a bacteria like a previous reviewer said, it's a parasite. You have to kill it during the stage (can't remember what it's called) that the parasites are looking for other hosts. If your fish is almost sucked dry and dying it's probably too late. Believe me i don't work for any fish company (i'm a physician), but this stuff really works. My yellow eye'd tang was full of these things about two weeks after I brought him home, but the trick is to catch it early. Did a big watch change and used this stuff for the first time, and the ich was gone in no time. He looked terrible too, thought it was all over. All my corals, live rock and other fish didn't even notice the meds or ich. As long as the fish are healthy enough and your water parameters are good this medication is great. Just follow the directions and if it doesn't work for you, you probably have some other problems this won't fix. Hope this helps

Comments: I have used Kick-Ich several times to to eliminate parasites from a 125 gallon reef tank. I have quite a few inverts that seemed to be completely unaffected by the parasite treatment. I did have more luck with every other day use instead of the every third day approach. I also had to use Kick Ich for at least 5-6 treatments each time. My tank has now been "marine ich" free for the past six months, and I do have an "ich magnet" (Royal Blue Tang).

- Product Review by Leon Liebl
(Posted on 11/30/07)

Comments: My brother introduced me to this product, which a friend of his had used as well, and it is the only thing all three of us have used that works. Keep in mind to follow directions. It is also important to keep in mind that the sooner you catch your ick problem the better. Some fish are not as strong as others when sick and may die much sooner if not treated in time. So far it's worked every time i've had to use it. My brother hasn't gotten ick ever since he first used it.

Comments: I treated my foxface rabbit, scopas tang and blue tang with Kick Ich and all I can say it worked like a charm! This nasty thing showed up in my 72 gal tank, have no idea how, because no new fish/etc. was purchased lately. Anyway, I followed the directions and the white spots were gone *before* the full treatment was over. None of my corals, crabs, clams, etc. were damaged by Kick Ich, so I have nothing to say about this product, but EXCELLENT!

Comments: It has now been 2 full treatments and it has yet to clear up all remaining ich. I have a clown fish and powder brown tang that hang out together and seem to keep getting infected while several other fish show no signs of it. All the others are however getting regular cleanings from my fire shrimp. I think though that with 2 full treatments of kick-ick it should have completely wiped out all remaining ich.
