"ALTERNATE USES"

Comments: OK,
We ordered this to deal with a few flatworms in my 90 before they became a problem. I also was fighting zoanthid eating nudibranches in my nano for some time, losing frag after frag of really hot zoanthids, I was ready to give up. While researching I came across someone stating that this product was highly toxic to nudibranches, so I decided to give it a try. Dosed the 90 and saw about 5-10 flatworms floating dead in the tank. Dosed the nano, and sure enough, caught a view of a nudibranch withering up and dying. I took such joy in it. We dosed my brothers two frag tanks, a 70 and a 20 where we had previously spotted a few nudis. My brother was actually able to pick one off, put it in a 1 drop to 1 gallon mix of flatworm exit, and sure enough, dead nudi. We have suffered NO ill effects. All tank critters seem unaffected and healthy, even my fan worms and feather duster are ok. No effect on copepods or mysis as others have suggested. Salifert really needs to market this as nudibranch erradication as well. Very happy with the product. More than a week later, I have zoanthid colonies bouncing back that looked dead and gone previously. To the mad scientists at Salifert, we salute you.

"Does not work."

Comments: I'm sorry, but this stuff did NOT work. I have a 40 gallon refugium infested with flatworms. I tried Flatworm Exit 6 months ago, but I think I accidentally re-infected the aquarium. So this time I tried a new bottle. After the recommended dosage, many flatworms did die, but not all of them. After removing the remaining chemical, and the toxins that would have been released, I noticed that there were still many, dozens in fact. This time I used a triple dose, almost the whole bottle. After about 8 hours, the little buggers are still there. So now I will resort to drastic measures...

"Great, but follow instructions"
- Product Review by Joel Clark

Comments: This product does a number on flatworms, but you must siphon out as many FW as you can, filter with carbon after use and do a large water change. You need to follow up in about 5-7 days with another treatment to get all the eggs that are not affected with the first treatment. If you follow directions and treat at least twice, it should do the trick.

Comments: I have used several products in the past to treat flatworms, but this is the best by a mile. One treatment in a 210G and the worms were gone. Unlike other products, I did not have to up the dosage, nor did I have to re-treat. One and done! My mushrooms are extremely happy now! I love it when I can find one product that I know is going to work for whatever the situation it. For flatworms, this is IT!

"Great Stuff!"
- Product Review by Nathan Laidlaw
(Posted on 11/21/11)

Comments: Worked great, easy instructions. A capfull to my 72 gal system functioned like a charm, killed my acro eating flatworms and a few red/brown planaria I did not know I had. No adverse side effects (very few flatworms vs tank volume).

Did not erradicate all flatworms (99% gone), will have to treat a second time (and to catch any new hatchings of egg sacks). This was expected, have used product in past and needed to treat twice then as well.

Follow all instructions--if you do not siphon out all flatworms you can get to, it can crash your tank when they die and spew toxins into the water.

Comments: I've used over 6 boxes of this to get rid of flatworms and they're back stronger than ever. Trust me when I say over the course of six boxes I followed directions to a T....my infestation was never really bad, I just wanted them out of my frag tank. I never lost a fish although I did have dozens of Acro frags die during treatment - that could of been caused by God knows what however...STRESS probably. It doesn't matter the dose, these little b@stards keep coming back! I was told by LFS that this stuff doesn't kill flatworm eggs ??? Supposedly it kills zoa eating nudis requiring a second dose 4 days later to kill eggs, but the directions don't mention a single thing about this product not killing flatworm eggs. (I don't know if flatworms even have eggs) I'm writing the company asking for a refund of the 140.00 dollars plus I wasted on this stuff....the only thing that truly EXITED was my money right out of my wallet. The best way to get rid of flatworms....DON'T GET 'EM IN THE FIRST PLACE!

Comments: 10 min after treating my 75 gallon display tank and 40 gallon sump Flatworm Exit was working, 45 min in, i used a spare canister filter filled with fresh carbon to filter out any toxin that may harm my fish and coral. 4 days later no flatworms and no problems.

"False Advertising!"
- Product Review by Joel Saxton
(Posted on 2/15/10)

Comments: This product is NOT reef safe! Please exercise great caution when using it. It will probably kill off most flatworms, but it also killed off a large number of my copepods, which I rely upon as live food for my goby. I also noticed a thread on the internet where some reefers notice it also kills small brittle stars. I will check and see if this product also kills mine as well. Needless to say, I am very disappointed with this product and its false claims.

Comments: I let my LFS talk me into using this product. They dosed, carboned, and did the water change per instructions. Killed the flatworms and nothing else in the reef tank was affected. Completed a second dose two weeks later and now no flatworms visible. Follow instructions!

"BEWARE!!"
- Product Review by Chris Carson
(Posted on 1/5/10)

Comments: It does kill "most" all your flatworms but no matter how careful you are and no matter how well you follow all the precautions you WILL loose other inhabitants. This was a costly product for no more than you get and even more costly to replace what it kills in your tank. At this point I would have been better off with a flat worm population.

"Did not kill them"
- Product Review by Charles Goodman
(Posted on 11/15/09)

Comments: While many flatworms did die, may survived two treatments. The second was double the dose suggested. The good news is it did not harm anything in my tank. I used carbon as suggested and did a big water change.
I am gonna try a target mandarin instead and see how that goes.
I know some people have had great success with this product. I think it just depends on how sensitive your particular worms are to the medication, kind of like antibiotics and bacteria.
Bottom line, I would think long and hard before using it. Weigh the pros and cons and maybe try something more conservative first like a 6 line wrasse or a target mandarin.
The directions say I could titrate the dose and figure out how much is needed to kill the worms, but I am gonna hold of on that for now.

"Flatworm Exit"
- Product Review by Robert Iannotta

Comments: The product did the job fast and effective. I wish other treatments for the aquaruim can work that effectively. Within 30 minutes of application the Faltworms were gone. You can actualy see them get stressed out from the treatment then curl up and die then float in the water column to be siphoned out... an important step. No harm to the live rock....just a few microfauna critters were taken along with the treatment....it works!

Comments: Like the directions said don't underestimate the amount of worm you will have in the tank. my lighting was too bright so most of them would hide under the rocks so I couldn't get to most of them to remove them. I changed out all of my carbon and did a 50% water change. I lost my yellow tang and my clams and SPLs took about 5 days to recover. I would recommend that if you can pull you livestock out of the tank before you use it. I have still have flatworms left over as well.

Comments: I had a massive infestation in my 125gal frag tank.I got this product with great expectations.I siphoned out as many as possable witch was a lot.Shut down filters and added the exit.Within 30min they started to die so i siphoned some more out and turned on the filters with about 1 1/2 lb of carbon. After about 10 more min I did a water change.Killed most of them and I think it killed pods to.Did it again after 2 days to get last of them.Did not hurt them at all.But it did not harm my sps or anything else.

"Perfect for da worms"
- Product Review by Peter Tienhaara
(Posted on 12/15/08)

Comments: I had a 180g display tank heavily infested with flatworms and this product wiped them out in an hour. My tank is filled with corals of all types and 15 fish. In general all faired well with the following exceptions. I lost many baby starfish "counted 30+ as they floated away", Yellow polyps are having a tough time but have not died. My Magnificent Anemone has decided to roam after months in a happy place, but sadly the hardest hit was my Warty frog fish. He died 3 days after the treatment and at 4.5inches he should have been fine. The final thought on this is that the worms did him in as there toxic deaths are the cause NOT the product. Catch this problem early to avoid any issues during treatment. All worms appear to be gone and I have a backup bottle ready for any issues and as a dip before new corals go in.

"Hit or Miss"
- Product Review by David Frye
(Posted on 8/7/08)

Comments: I've used the product before with great success, but this bottle either wasn't up to par or the flatworms I accidentally introduced to 3 tanks a few weeks ago are very VERY resistant. I treated each tank twice, following the instructions, and still have some flatworms in each tank. I caught it early, and have a very small worm load, but they appear to be quite healthy.

"Wow"
- Product Review by Kenneth Argo
(Posted on 3/8/08)

Comments: Sum it up in one word; 'WOW'!

Added this into a 210 and within a few minutes the tank had a storm of flat worms bodies. Never using this before I was not sure what to expect when the worms died so I wasn't prepard for them all to just let go (sure would be nice if this where in the direction)!

Note: When the instructions say don't underestimate the population they where right! Amazing how man come out once this is added.

I would suggest, for those who have a sump to place a filter sock over the overflow output; this will allow you to catch most of the dead worms before they release their toxins, change or rinse the sock every few minutes to remove the maximum bodies.

This does cause corals to slime like crazy and clams just close up tight until the toxins are neutralized (I used 3 fluidized carbon reactors and changed 60 G of water. The toxin turns the water yellow.

Suggestion to vendor; create a test kit which can report toxin levels; it sure would be nice to know how much so you can react appropriately.

Comments: We used this product in 5 gal buckets as we were moveing the rock and coral from the old tank to the new tank. Killed the flat worm in less than 30 minutes. All the feathers, bristleworm and coral are still very well alive. Even the hermits that were still on the rocks are doing great. I would use with cauion as there were a LOT more flatworm that i thought there were and we had a lot of them.

Comments: As I've already posted, this product works great BUT it WILL harm your Sea Apple. It won't kill it but it has a corrosive effect on the Sea Apple's feeding tenacles.....they kinda desolve away and have to grow back. To help alleviate this problem I "tap" my sea apple which causes it to retract. Keep doing this until the flat worms are dead and you have done a water change and restarted your carbon. Hope this helps.

"Worked well"

Comments: Flatworm Exit did work well; however, it did not kill all my flatworms. Since I had a severe outbreak, I used more than the instructions said. I ended up using the entire bottle on my 180 gallon tank. The worms started dying off almost immediately. Nothing else in the tank was harmed; although, my soft corals did close up for several hours. After about a week, I started noticing a few worms in the tank again. I am going to dose the tank a second time. Hopefully, this will get rid of the remaining flatworms.

"Be careful - use sparingly"
- Product Review by Donald R Anthony Jr

Comments: I used this product to eradicate a flatworm problem in my 12G nano. I used as directed by siphoning as many worms as possible out of the tank prior to using the product. I used the recommended dosage. Within a few minutes, the flatworms began to die off. I siphoned as many as possible and added activated carbon to my filter. Looks like it worked. There are only a few left in my tank that I will siphon out. The corals in the tank looked stressed for a while. All seem to have recovered including various zoos, pagoda, and yellow polyps. Even my clam seems to be ok. My mushrooms didn't make it however. All 12+ heads seem to be decaying. No sure what to make of it. After numerous partial water changes, still no luck with the shrooms, but all else seems ok. Use with caution.

Comments: I used this product due to a nasty infestation that killed two corals while on vacation. I have all manner of inverts and 4 small fish. All was well until the second dose after 45 minutes, my spinny star flipped out, contracted into a ball and I thought it was the end. I did a 25% water change and all was well. I would strongly recommend you remove any star fish while treating you tank.
I am keeping an eye out for worms but so far so good.
