"fast & accurate"
- Product Review by Frank Mangialardi
(Posted on 9/5/10)

Comments: The results with this test are fast and clear. I grew into the low resolution mode with quicker and easier to read results, using half the reagent. Kit comes with a test solution, use it to verify your procedure/results.

"Accurate Alkalinity Test"

Comments: This test is great and the color changes are clearly defined so it's easy to tell when to stop adding titrant and take your reading. I highly recommend this test kit.

"Best Test Kit Available"
- Product Review by Alyssa Colon

Comments: This test kit is an excellent and accurate choice to help your reef aquarium stabilized. In my opinion Alk is top 3 in where to watch if you have coral problems. So don't hesitate or cheap out on your very expensive investment.

"Salifert KH Test Kit"
- Product Review by Tim Stapleton
(Posted on 3/24/10)
-
Comments: I really like how they have included a bottle of water as a testing standard. It allows you to see if you come up with the same number that they do for the standard. If you don't, then you can adjust how you perform the test until you get the same results. Every test kit should have this. Great idea.

"Gotta get used to it"
- Product Review by Stephen Vitek
(Posted on 1/13/10)

Comments: Ill be honest. I haven't been in the hobby for long but I am in college, majoring in Pharmaceutical Science.

When I first opened the box I thought I had just walked into Chem 1 Lab. After reading the sheet that came with it I was fairly confident it would be a great product. First time to sample my Alk and it showed up +16dKH. Since I fixed the issue my few samples have been within reason to my LFS results.

Although it is pricey I am happy with it. I might try some other types after this one runs out.

"Great Color Change"
- Product Review by John Schretzlmeir
(Posted on 12/10/09)

Comments: I have tried a bunch of Alkalinity tests this is by far the easiest to see the color change when it hits the endpoint. There is no "i think it change" with this test. I tried the tests where you count the drops and i even tried Lamott. This is by far the best.

"Salifert KH/Alkalinity Test Ki"
- Product Review by Joe Ciampa
(Posted on 11/5/09)

Comments: The process of testing with this kit is more involved than other kits. However, this kit is much more accurate. Plus, it comes with a check solution, to ensure the kit is working properly.

"Accurate Results-Messy to Use"
- Product Review by Joel Colletti
(Posted on 10/22/09)
-
Comments: Pros: This test kit appears to give very accurate readings, and unlike Salifert's MG test kit, this test kit comes with enough Reference Solution to perform 2 or 3 checks to see if the kit is producing accurate results.

Cons:The problem is the KH - Ind Fluid bottle leaks. The bottle is a small plastic dropper bottle that dispenses a blue liquid. The dropper plastic dispensing tip leaks this blue liquid out of the bottle without squeezing it (when the cap is off). So, just uncapping the bottle and turning it upside down will cause some of the Indication Fluid to spill onto furniture, clothing, carpeting etcetera. This fluid stains badly and does not wash out. I notified Marine Depot of this problem, and they were kind enough to replace the kit, but the second kit has the same problem. There is no contact information for Salifert, so I could not alert them to the problem. Both KH-Ind bottles were from Batch # 0509-E. Marine Depot told me I'd have no further recourse and found my complaint to be hard to believe. I was surprised that MD would doubt me on these accounts, so I'll leave it up to you to decide and tell MD. Maybe if enough people notify them, Salifert will correct the dropper dispensing caps.

My recommendation is to place a small piece of tissue paper under the KH-Ind bottle (in an area that you will be able to wipe the spilled soliton off of such as a counter top), then turn bottle upside down before uncapping it over the tissue paper. Let the first drop or two spill out onto the paper and then align the test cylinder under the dropper bottle giving it a very gentle squeeze to prevent ruining your test sample.

The only other thing I didn't care for is the paper reference chart that comes with the kit. You may want to make a copy of it first, as if you spill Indication fluid on the reference chart, you can't wipe it off and it too will be ruined.

"Easy to use and accurate"
- Product Review by Mark Stimson
(Posted on 9/16/09)

Comments: Tested this kit against 2 other test kits and they all read the same, Most Alk test kits are pretty accurate but this kit will read read down to decimals, I guess thats how it would be said, so instead of alk being just read 9dkh or 10dkh it will read 9.0, 9.3, 9.9, 10.2. Also you can cut the sample in half so you can use less reactant and get more test's per kit.

"Easy to use, but....."
- Product Review by Guy D Molinari
(Posted on 1/1/09)

Comments: the kit is easy to use, however the KH indicating bottle could use a better dropper, it always lets one drop run down the side, which you need to wipe off before putting the cap on. This means you will never get the amount of tests the kit is rated for.

"Bad Luck -- I got a bad batch"
- Product Review by Patporn Marquardt
(Posted on 1/18/08)
-
Comments: The test kit I got was supposed to expire in 2011 and my alkalinity always test at 8.6 dKH. Then all the sudden my montipora started bleaching and later I found out the hard way when I got other test kit to compare the reading. My alkalinity was actaully 6.5 dKH. I heard other people had the same problem too so it's not only me. I don't think I will buy it again just because I don't know if I will end up getting another bad one or not.
