Seachem Laboratories MultiTest: Marine Basic Test Kit Information

Product Manuals & Documentation

There are so many things you need to keep track in an aquarium. Is the pH level ideal? Is the ammonia level rising? Is the water too acidic? Is there enough calcium in the water? And so on, and so forth. You`ll have to test all these, and do it on a regular basis. Without a systematic method in place, it can drive you mad.

Thankfully, the Seachem MultiTest Marine Basic Test Kit from Pet Store exists to help ease your burden by a whole lot. As the name says, this product is a test kit, so it can perform several tests. At least, you don`t have to buy one product for each test. That is much more expensive and also harder to keep track of.

The Seachem MultiTest Marine Basic Test Kit can perform the usual tests aquarists need to do for their fish tanks. These tests are for the pH levels, ammonia content, nitrite and nitrate presence, and alkalinity of the water.

Each kit comes with a bottle of reagent for the pH test, a bottle of reagent for the alkalinity test, a bottle of pH reference, a bottle of alkalinity reference, an alkalinity pipette, a sample pipette, a stir rod, a pH color chart, a test plate and an easy-to-follow manual. Each kit is good for more than 75 tests.

SeaChem MultiTest: Marine Basic Test Kit

This kit combines the Marine pH & Alkalinity, Ammonia and Nitrite & Nitrate kits into one kit. (pH, alkalinity, free/total ammonia, nitrite, nitrate MultiTest Kit)

Great!

Comments: Accurate and easy to use. Reasonably priced. The fact that you get samples to verify the accuracy of the tests is great.

"Decent Kit" - Product Review by Mark Osterbrink (Posted on 4/7/10)

Great!

Comments: The pH, alkalinity, nitrite, and nitrate portions of this kit are pretty good and easy to use. The ammonia portion is a disk that changes from yellow to blue and is really only useful to tell whether ammonia is present, not how much is present.

Comments: This is a Ok product. It seems more accurate than the Red sea test kit, but to me is not as convenient. might try something different next time.

Comments: I was hoping to run a tiration test instead of indicator and color chart.
It is not as accurate as I hope because of the color chart. It took too long to do.

"Great test kit!" - Product Review by William Bell (Posted on 3/3/09)

Excellent!

Comments: Easy to use, easy to read results. Wish the cells were a bit deeper, but hey - it all cleans up. The combined kit makes it very reasonable and I like all of the standards for verification.

"Tough to decipher..." - Product Review by Sara Stefani (Posted on 8/5/08)

Comments: I like the fact that the kit can still accurately determine the amount of ammonia as opposed to ammonium in the water even after using Seachem Prime. However, I found this kit to be difficult to read the results of when compared to the API test kits. Trying to use the sliding scales to figure out the test results was difficult since the test was done in little bowls instead of test tubes. Also, this test kit took a lot longer to use than the API test kit and involved a lot more elements which got frustrating after a few days. All in all, I think next time I'll just get the ammonia kit and stick to API for my other testing needs.

"Great Accuracy!" - Product Review by Dixie Mcgaffick (Posted on 9/2/07)

Excellent!

Comments: Please take the time to read the instructions. It's the only basic set I know of that includes both Free Ammonia and Total Ammonia! The instructions clearly explain the difference between the two. I love the pH and Nitrite tests - Nitrate test needs just a little practice to not spill the powder (or maybe I just don't have a steady hand).
WELL WORTH the price!

"Marine Basic Kit" - Product Review by Christopher Gerboth (Posted on 8/18/07)

Great!

Comments: This was my first experiance with a real test as I was using the dipping strips before. It wasnt the smoothest transaction. There is a lot more involved with these tests. There are powders and liquids that must be mixed and the time delay is a lot longer. Some tests you must wait 3-5 minutes and others 10-30 minutes for acurate results. However the accuracy of this test is much greater than the cheap dip tests strips.

This test does not measure in parts per million (ppm) and does not provide a conversion to read the results. I cant remember what it measures in right now.

The worst part about this test is the ammonia test. It has two tests; total ammonia and non-total ammonia. But it doesnt explain the difference or when a specific one should be used.

Once this test runs out I will probably try Salifert and then decide from there which one I like better.

But at least I trust the accuracy of this test, as before it was unnerving to rely on the dipping tests that I use for my freshwater tank.
