Does it work??? Product Review by CHRIS (Posted on 2/26/14)

Comments: Not sure how well this stuff works just yet but I've used it now for over a month and still seeing hair algae grow. I've recently purchased some bulk GFO as this stuff IMHO seems to work better at phosphate adsorption.

I bought this stuff mostly because of it's larger granular size to use in my own DIY reactor but after I bought it I discovered it does not need to be fluidized but instead acts more like a pass-through sponge. Also, it assumes that the first amount you place in the system will be spent shortly thereafter (a few days) and then they recommend replacing the previous contents and then monitor PO4 to determine change. Since my test kit doesn't seem to indicate that I have any detectable PO4 I cannot say if this is or is not working since I still have Chaeto and hair algae growth.

Excellent!

Comments: Pretty much all fish/marine food has phosphates in it. Ive used this stuff for as long as I can remember, years. I put about a golf ball sized amount in the tank about every 6 days one day of nothing. I rinse it before I use it. I have all Red sea 130. I have 3 small fish and all kinds of lps and a few sps.
