Reverse osmosis is a common form of water filtration used in systems for aquariums and
fish tanks. In reverse osmosis, or RO, a membrane is used to take out big particles of unwanted substances and large molecules of harmful chemicals from a liquid solution. This takes place when pressure is applied on the solution while it passes through the membrane. As a result, the solute is filtered out by not being allowed to pass, while the solvent get to pass all the way through.
This type of filtration is used in the Spectapure® Permeate Pump Retrofit Kits for RO System from
Pet Store. The pump in this kit makes the RO system work better because it increases the net pressure all over the RO membrane. This is done by confining the pressure on the membrane and isolating it from the water tank pressure. When paired with a valve with an automated shut-off, this pump makes the purity of the water stored in the tank increase greatly. Aside from that, this pump also lengthens the the life of the membrane and pre-filters used in the system by reducing the waste water by as much as 80%. It also fills the tank twice as fast.
No electricity is necessary to run the pump in the Spectapure® Permeate Pump Retrofit Kits for RO System.
