Not what I Expected

Comments: First of all, my items arrived much faster than I expected and customer service is excellent! Unfortunately this taam rio 800 venturi pump is severely underpowered, it wouldn't run my CPR back Pak skimmer. I was using a maxijet 900 before and it worked great just a lil loud. The rio is a lil quieter but not much. I'm goin to use my maxijet for now. I may try the CRP accela which I thought I ordered in the first place. I read all the reviews for the taam rio and took a shot but I am very disappointed. Some advice, the CPR bak Pak will not function properly unless the water level is absolutely topped off, almost to the point of overflowing.

Comments: Excellent pump great for protein skimmer

Comments: Solid pump, works well with CPR HOB skimmer. Design pitfall is that when used with airline for skimmer the elbow joints fill with salt creep, this is to be expected with application.

Comments: This powerhead for our protein skimmer is much more efficient and quiet. We had to put an airstone on our previous powerhead to reduce the noise, but that is not the case with the Taam Rio RVT. We are extremely happy with the quality and price of this product.
Compact but loud

Comments: I like the way it draws air into the impeller and it does create good enough bubble action for my CPR HOB Refugium/Skimmer. Nice and small too.
But there are several things that would be simple to improve:
1) In the box there are no extra fittings, adapters, elbows etc. Just the pump & air intake hose.
2) Suction cups on the 'bottom' of the pump only - you can't stick it to the side of the tank and have the outlet pointed up. I ended up gluing on a suction cup rack from another pump.
3) Air intake is VERY loud. This thing just needs a simple silencer. I did a DIY one with a small empty pill bottle.
4) Even with air intake silenced, it could still be quieter.
