Titanium Ground Probe Information

Experiencing electric shocks in your aquarium? This may be harmful not just to your aquatic inhabitants, but also to people. Oftentimes, these have come from stray voltages that are produced by your aquarium gadgets like pumps, chillers, heaters, and the like. Prevent any untoward incidence by simply using the Titanium Ground Probe from Pet Store.

The Titanium Ground Probe is a device that looks for and eliminates the negative ground that can cause shocks. It is plugged into an outlet that is grounded, and its probe is attached inside the tank or sump to create a safe base. The probes are made of titanium rod that is non-corrosive. They are attached to a wire lead that is stainless and has a length of ten feet. It is equipped with a three-pronged plug that has an extra eyelet. By using a transition joint that is highly insulated, these probes provide protection for your aquarium from corrosion and metal leach.

With the Titanium Ground Probe, you do not need to worry about corrosive substances infiltrating your tank. You also do not have to fear about any electrical disturbance that can be harmful to you and your aquatic friends. All you get is a healthy aquatic habitat that you would enjoy watching at all times.

These grounding probes come with a non-corrosive titanium rod attached to a 10ft stainless wire lead, a three prong grounded plug, with an additional grounding eyelet. These probes also utilize an insulated transition joint, insuring against corrosion protection, and leaching of metals into the aquarium.

Comments: I thought my fish were getting what i thought was ich on and off for a year. The ends of fins would become white and fish an coral seemed stressed. I tried everything to battle it but nothing worked. I am quite experienced at fish and coral keeping and have not had a fish with any disease for many many years. Finally someone suggested I get a voltage meter and test my water. Low and behold, I was reading stray voltage. Found it was coming from a very expensive powerhead I had just bought the same time my symptoms started. Tossed the powerhead and picked this up for peace of mind. Should I ever get stray voltage again it will just go straight to the probe and out of the tank.

Great!

Comments: The probe looks to be quality and I appreciate the use of titanium, should last for quite some time. It is difficult to know if it is working but I added it from a safety aspect. There should be something in the instructions on how to confirm that your wall socket ground is operational. I used a volt meter because I know how to do it. Suggesting that a certified electrician be brought in could add some unexpected costs to the product.

Comments: I really don't know how to rate a ground probe since you don't "see" it in action. So, I will say that it's a high quality piece of equipment with plenty of length. It dropped right into my tank and seems to be doing it's job!
I bought this because I swear I was feeling some tingling when I had my hands in the tank a couple times. Better safe than sorry.

"REALLY WORKS" - Product Review by Will Loftin (Posted on 4/16/09)

Comments: With three pumps and three separate heaters on a 120 Gal Tank w/ 20 Gal Refugium, I was getting stray voltage: measured from the water to ground with my voltmeter, 40 VAC (!!!) before I used the ground probe in the system. With the ground probe in place, it dropped the voltage to ZERO. There is no detectible voltage in the tank OR refugium now. I have a very nice Fluke voltmeter, and it did not detect any 60 cycle frequency at all (which would be detectable if there were any AC current in the tank).

I placed the Ground Probe so that only the metal part of the probe is in the water. I like this probe because it can plug directly into a grounded outlet (I tested my outlets using an outlet tester) with ease and needs no additional hardware to set up.

It utilises a jacketed steel wire, which means no copper to leach into the system in the off chance of it being exposed to the water.

Comments: It is a small, overlooked item, but it may have protected me from being electrocuted when my brand new sterilizer had a huge hole in the sleeve. I was shocked several times, not realizing I what it was until my husband found the hole in the sleeve. He thought the ground probe probably saved my life. So get one, now.
