"Tunze 6015"
- Product Review by Scott Steiner
(Posted on 9/21/12)
-
Comments: I bought two of the 6015 models for my 29 gallon saltwater tank. So far I have really liked them. They are absolutely 100% quiet. My corals have responded well to the movement from these powerheads than they did with my previous powerheads (which where a couple maxi-jets and a nano koralia). The magnets are nice and strong and they do a perfect job dampening any sound from the pumps normal vibration. The only minus these powerheads have is there size. I was expecting them to be a bit smaller than they are, but it is not that big of a deal though. I would choose these powerheads over any other in the price range though.

"Tunze is Terrific"
- Product Review by Reinaldo Lauzurique
(Posted on 9/8/12)

Comments: Purchased this pump for circulation inside my fuge. While many would have probably gone with a cheaper pump for this task, I chose this one as it is quite inexpensive and moves a lot of water plus Tunze pumps are about the quietest most dependable pumps on the market. If you buy right the first time then you only have to buy once. Look into Tunze for this and many other products and you will be happy you did.

"Strong!"
- Product Review by Joshua Greenberg
(Posted on 5/8/12)
-
Comments: Water movement was way more than I expected. This thing is like a jet turbine and moves all my plant life almost excessively in a 40B. If I had this pointed at the ecocomplete substrate it would dig holes in it Im sure. Probably would have gone with the smaller one in hindsight. Highly adjustable in its direction, but a little tricky to get setup; the magnets for whatever reason are finicky with the direction they will attach. Overall seems to be a good product but with its power I worry about the critters and dont run it too much. The intake is borderline overwhelming for micro fish though the shrimp seem to not have any problems.

"Just OK"
- Product Review by Justin Mallek
(Posted on 3/9/12)
-
Comments: Bought the 6015 for a 15 gallon nano. The pump is quite large an intrusive in the tank. There is some vibration from the pump but will probably quite down over time. The biggest problem I've encountered is the anti-reverse mechanism used on the pump. During start up it makes this horrible grinding sound and the propeller lurches forward in the housing. Not a massive deal breaker since it is needed to keep the pump from running in reverse but it is something that I have to experience every time I shut it down for feeding.

I knew I should have bought an mp-10!

"Great little power heads"
- Product Review by Sabrina Kelley
(Posted on 2/29/12)
-
Comments: I love these power heads. I have 2 of them on my 55 gallon fowlr tank. They are smaller than almost all the koralias I have used and are just as silent. I love that they can be used on other wave makers besides the tunzes. You dont have to worry about all the clacking you get with putting a k4 on a wave maker that you already have (ie spending less money upfront). I also love that they have rocks to hide them which also puts them at the bottom of the tank angled up for better placement.

I can not say enough about these pumps. A+++

Comments: You cannot use this pump with any sort of timer because of the impeller chatter. I tried using it on a wave timer and it was a no go. The flow is good, the size of the pump is rather obtrusive compared to others on the market for the same flow rate. I ended up sending these pumps back.

Comments: Needed more flow and these sure did deliver in my 40 gallon. Would give 5 stars, but did have one unit stall when switched back on after feeding. Comments: I own both 25 & 45 models, the pump sometimes will go on reverse when you umplug for cleaning, I broke the clip on the first cleaning (3 months), on the second cleaning the shaft on the pump broke (6 months), got a free replacement (newer design) because of warranty, but on the cleaning couple of weeks ago, shaft broke again due to rust, the pump is good looking and does not take up a lot of space, but is not built to last.

"Glad I got it"
- Product Review by John Schmelzkopf
(Posted on 3/28/11)
-
Comments: Well been running the Tunze brick type Turbelle's for about 10 years, worked flawlessly. When one transformer went out I decided to try the new style instead of just getting a new transformer for the brick style.

Glad I did, the new style is about 1/3rd the size. The magnet mount is included, also way smaller and rubber bushings cut noise and vibrations to tank. The Ball design makes it way more adjustable for direction too.

I ordered another one and will try it as a second on one side to see what I can do with the currents in my 110 low. If it works the way I think it will I will order 2 more. I will replace the good brick and run 2 on each side giving more random currents. Being so much more compact, cleaner looking and adjustable it will actualy look better then the 2 old style bricks.

"Better than expected"
- Product Review by John Davis
(Posted on 3/24/11)
-
Comments: I had high hopes for Tunze. It seems every high end aquarium system I saw was running Tunze pumps. So I bought the 6015 to be used as a universal pump. Currently in a 15 gallon tank helping seed live rock. Eventually will be used in a planted freshwater aquarium. The flow is gentle and smooth. Not intimidating for freshwater use at all. The ability to mount this pump to back of the aquarium and angle it all the way to the left, right, up, down, and straight forward are what seperate this pump from the similar Koralia pumps. Even the 6015 is a bit larger than expected but mounted in the aquarium it is a beautiful piece of equipment and not distracting. Tunze in an aquarium is synonymous with quality. The best part is that Tunze is made in Germany by people who really care about making the best of the best. Stop buying cheap pumps and just give it a try. You won't be sorry.

Comments: Have only had this for a few days but it performs great and I love the range of motion this has over similar products. I have 2 Hydor Koralia Evos which started running backwards on my wavemaker, which I never received any customer support over after repeated attempts. The materials and workmanship on this model seem far superior. Worth the extra money.

Comments: I use a pair of the 6055 heads on an Apex controller. Very powerful, completely silent, easy to adjust to just about any angle. Build quality is obvious. Flow rates on these seem underrated as compared to competing products; be advised that even the lowest flow setting seems much, much more powerful than other units with larger GPH ratings.

"Nice Upgrade"
- Product Review by Joel Kapit
(Posted on 8/15/10)
-
Comments: After owning the original Tunze 6100 for 7 years, I finally needed to replace the unit and bought two Tunze 6055s.

I control The Tunze Turbelle Nano Stream with an older 9074 controller and it works very well. Very quiet and I really like the magnetic holders.

The only thing that I was not totally satisfied about was the actual flow coming from the pump. It is stated that it can move 1500 GPH.

I thought it would be close to my old 6100 unit which maximum was 1850 GPH, but it is not even close. These pumps are really for smaller tanks as recommended on the Marinedepot Web Site. My experience with the 6000 was I could not run the pump at full blast because it was so powerful so I mistakenly thought this pump would do the job.

I recently added a new 6105 Tunze Turbelle Stream and that is clearly the power I was looking for. But all in all, if you have a 50 gallon tank these would be excellent pumps.

"Tunze versus....."
- Product Review by David Glenn
(Posted on 7/31/09)
-
Comments: I have a 90 gallon with the following dimensions. 36 x 24 x 25. The overflow is center-back. I started off with two Koralia 3's and they perform well, but I wanted to try different movement so I purchased the Ecotech Vortech MP20. 21 days after the purchase of the MP20, I am removing it and sending it back to the company for repairs. Apparently this is becoming a major issue. I am not happy with the Vortech.

I have now installed the Tunze 6025. It was easy to put together, although the entire booklet is in foreign languages. I have the Tunze 6025 installed along with one Koralia 3. They are on opposite corners and pointed towards the middle. Both are comparable on GPH. The Koralia 3 is a little "broader" in the dispersion of the water, yet I do like the Tunze as well. I will be running the Tunze on an electronic timer with a minimum of 20 minutes "off". This is ok with the Tunze. I have a mixed reef tank and I am getting plenty of flow with the Koralia 3 and the Tunze 6025. I think alternating the Tunze on / off cycle will help. I do recommend this product.

"Tunze 6055 x 2"
- Product Review by Charles Meek
(Posted on 7/14/09)
-
Comments: First let me say, I am not a newbie in the hobby. I have run a 120 gal reef for about 8 years now. I have had the old Tunze streams and many others in between. With a 4' wide tank, the full size streams both old and new were just too much force and flow to keep from stripping tissue off my SPS and LPS. I decided to pair the 7096 controller with a set of two 6055 pumps and I am very happy with the result. The 7096 controller lets me manage the two nano streams very comprehensively and I can even create a wave with the two nanostreams on this tank. The pumps were easy to install and are SUPER QUIET. For those of you with a tank in a living area where sound is an issue, look no further.

The mounting magnets work like a charm and the ball style of the nanostreams makes them very easy to orient in the tank to idealize flow. Roger and the fellas at Tunze did a great job with this product and the 7096 controller.

Comments: The product is exceptional in every regard and well worth

"nice...."
- Product Review by Michael Grenko
(Posted on 4/14/09)
-
Comments: I have only had this pump for a week but I am impressed by how quite it is and the amount of water it can move. you do not hear the pump at all, the only way you know it is working is by the water motion in the tank. it moves water in a very broad flow, when I first turned it on I was a litte let down becasue it did not look like it was moving all that much water I have a 220 gallon tank and have it shooting straigh across the tank lenght wise. but then when I feed the fish I saw just how fast the water was moving in the whole tank it really is hitting every inch of the tank and when you look closely at the SPS all the polys are moving nicly not the harse direct hit that most power head do but just a nice fanning motion.
I am looking forward to buying two more one for the other side and one for back to front motion.

"Nicely Built, Ultra Quiet"
- Product Review by Sharon Oberlander
(Posted on 3/8/09)
-
Comments: These are the first Tunze pumps I've ever owned. My just-out-of-the-box impression was that these are very well crafted, substantial pieces of equipment. Nothing rinky dinky about them. The size is alright, for the volume of water these push it is impressive that they are no bigger.
I have a 58 gallon tank (36l x 18w x 20h) and positioned these to be diametrically opposing with one in the back left corner, the other in the back right corner, both aimed a bit downward toward the front center of the tank, (imagine the streams making an X) in order to create a more random turbulent water movement.
The stream that these pumps create is very "soft", and it seems hard to believe that these pump the amount of water as stated by Tunze. The only other experience I have with pumps in this gph range are modded maxijet 1200. That was like a jet blast in my tank and anything in its path was subject to (in my size tank) an incredibly strong water blast.
I like the swivel capability of these pumps, one thing sorely lacking in the modded maxijet set up I was struggling with. You can pretty much aim these pumps any which way- nice.
The magnets are a very nice way to mount these, no inevitable failing of suction cups to worry about.
I can't hear these pumps, they are absolutely silent! I have found myself looking at them to make sure they are actually running, but in my estimation that is not a bad problem to have.
They create a very gentle stream, and my fish are having fun zipping in and out of them, and my Rose Bubble Tip anemone seems to really like the type of water movement they are making. I have one pump aimed just off to the side of the anemone so my hosted clown doesn't have to struggle to stay cozy inside. The anemone gets a very nice swaying motion.
So far, I have no complaints about these. The fit and finish of the pumps are excellent, the materials seem top quality to me.
I would definitely recomment these to a friend.

"I Like It."
- Product Review by Michael Chen
(Posted on 1/13/09)
-
Comments: It is the only powerhead of it's kind to be able to fit into the first chamber of a Biocube 29g, so not many options. Because I wanted to keep an anemone, I knew I had to have it placed in chamber 1 with a hole cut through the plastic wall in back and into the display area. Previously, I was using a Koralia 1 and the Tunze 6025 puts out a lot more flow than the Koralia, almost too much I would venture to say in a 29 gallon tank. However, with some playing around with the angle of flow, you can get it right. I have mainly softies, and everything took a day or so to adjust to the increased flow, but are loving it now.

"Moves Some Serious Water"
- Product Review by Benjamin Peralta
(Posted on 11/22/08)

Comments: Very pleased with this pump. It's very quiet and the thing moves some serious water. Initially, I placed it into my 65gal tank without the mod to increase flow and it was pretty good. After I did the mod (really easy 5min mod), the thing is very impressive. Be careful with the magnets as they are very strong. I accidently put them together outside the tank and it was pretty hard to split the two magnets apart. Very happy with the pump though.

"Tunze..."
- Product Review by Quoc Ho
(Posted on 9/5/08)

Comments: Great little pump and outperforms others by far! Put mine on the tunze 6091 controller which made it really loud when switching during wave pulses but Tunze rep took care of that quick! This little pump was creating mini-waves in a 72" 125g! Love the quality and the awesome magnet holder! This one makes #5 nanostream pump in my tanks!

"Needed Modifying"
- Product Review by Edward Kruzel
(Posted on 7/26/08)
-
Comments: The unit isn't overly large for a nano when comparing the amount of flow it can produce, and the noise level is tolerable. The only complaint I had was that the front case does not fit properly; the power cord keeps it from snapping shut. I modified this by trimming about 2mm off the front case that wraps around the cord. Tunze should ensure when molding the cord for waterproofing that it protrudes straight up from the unit and not at a forward cant. This may be a limited or rare problem, but won't detour me from using or buying another of this same product.

"Love the Stream"
- Product Review by Joyce Jones
(Posted on 5/30/08)
-
Comments: I've gone through many of the conventional water movers; some just laying in storage now, others broken. If you are serious about your reef, and believe you are in it for the long haul, go Tunze. You will end up spending the same amount of money in the long run. I just purchased my second 6055 NanoStream for my 72 gal display reef tank. I probably should have listened to my reef club President in the beginning and ordered the second 6101 to begin with. All are on a multicontroller. My corals love the awesome flow that the Tunze provides. Highly recommended.

"Great, but could be better."
- Product Review by Robert Blackgrove
(Posted on 3/29/08)

Comments: I really like these things, I have 3 connected to a multicontroller. Adjustable speeds, the 6055 has great range. My main complaint is that they make too much noise if they are not left running continuously. Every 20 seconds or so they briefly kick back on with a loud "click". Also, they click when they turn "on", so if you have intermittent back and forth current, they make some noise. If you run them simultaneously, this is not a problem. I traded Tunze 6100's for 2 nanos (6055) on my 76 gal display tank, and have one on my 46 gal frag tank. Plenty of current and able to get good random flow with 2 nanos together. Very happy with them.

"Nanostream"
- Product Review by Philemon Roukas
(Posted on 3/21/08)

Comments: Comming from a company with such reputation this pump is dissapointing to say the least. I have a 6025 and a 6045.
For starters the clips that clamp to the base broke off. The swing arm will not last for long and will eventually brake. And last in Marine setups the pump gets glogged and starts to make a horrible noise which will not go away even if you clean the pump. Very dissapointing especially for its price. Other than that they have a good flow and the decorative rock which covers them is pretty good.

"Tunze 6045"
- Product Review by Shawn Meeks
(Posted on 2/17/08)
-
Comments: I purchased the NanoStream 6045 power head to replace a MaxiJet 900 power head in my 46 gallon bow front reef aquarium. The Tunze 6045 has great quality and straight forward instructions. The unit's size is perfect and compact for the power. The unit rotates well for easy stream placement. The stream of water is a little more direct then I thought it would be. I had to adjust stream to hit some live rock to create turbulence in the water flow. Over all great product and perfect size also very easy to mount with a strong magnet.

Comments: These things rock! I love mine. Great flow and over a broad area, not a jetstream. I have modded mine for even more flow. Tunze's customer support is second to none.

One warning, be very careful with the brackets. The tiny attachment points are very easily broken. The magnets are powerful enough to do this on their own if you aren't careful.

"So-so"
- Product Review by Robert Sarvis
(Posted on 1/19/08)
-
Comments: I don't think this product deserves 5 stars, certainly not at its price--it's rather expensive and not particularly powerful.

On the one I got, the bracket broke in two places. Where the bracket meets the magnet, it was already broken when I opened it; so I just superglued the bracket to the magnet. Later, one of the arms of the bracket cracked; I superglued that back together but used it too soon, before it set totally, so I need to reglue that again.

But anyway, they're not so well made and amazing to cost $60+ or to get 5 stars. I prefer a modified maxi-jet 1200. But the perfect (affordable) powerhead remains elusive...

Comments: Excellent Powerhead. Tunze is a top of the line product. The only issue that I had with my pump is the magnetic mount. After months in the tank it gets very brittle. I was able to get in contact with a rep here in the US on one of the forums and he sent me 2 brand new redesigned mounts. Tunze Rocks!

"Great pump, needs some tweaks"
- Product Review by Taylor Mcmullin
(Posted on 1/1/08)
-
Comments: Love these little pumps when they're working right, but they have two design flaws: 1) The mounting clamps quickly become brittle, resulting in broken off mounting tabs and cracked clamp arms. 2) The pump has no mechanism to prevent the prop from spinning backwards, creating an intake rather than output flow. When they're functioning normally, though, it's hard to beat the wide diffuse flow stream these nanostreams create.

Comments: The flow rate on the 2 6045's I have in my 125 gal reef tank is excellent, however after a couple months in the tank, the brackets became very brittle and broke during cleaning. Now they are super-glued in place, and no longer adjustable.

Comments: This is a great pump. I was not sure if would be strong enough for my 75 gallon reef, but this pump has plenty of power. It is also controlable. The pump is tiny and very easy to mount without looking intrusive. The only set back is the high price, but so far it is well worth it.

"NanoStream 6045"
- Product Review by David Bressie
(Posted on 12/12/07)
-
Comments: The nano stream seems to work great. I primarily bought this because of the magnetic attachment. The small suction cups on all of my other powerheads would detach and get gunked up with algae quickly. I don't have to worry about that issue anymore.

The nanostream is a bit larger than i had thought it would be, but it is not overly large. The installation is simple and fast. I like how the "ball" just clips onto the U clip and you are ready for install. It is very adjustable and works well. The impeller cavitated when I first plugged it in. After unplugging it and plugging it back in it was very quiet.

Overall I would recommend this to anyone. Love the magnets!!

"8 months"
- Product Review by Rick Hobbs
(Posted on 12/2/07)
-
Comments: Nice flow spread, looks great, easy to position. At least for awhile. About a month ago the clamp arms broke. Simply fell away, letting the powerhead to sink to the end of its cord. Then a couple of days ago I found the front housing half lodged in some coral, while the prop was still grinding away at some live rock. It wouldnt snap back on either. The little snap things had just bent in. I ended up glueing it together so that I could get a bit more life out of it.
I guess it was only 60 bucks, but still, jeese.

"Excellent, quiet and compact"
- Product Review by Joe Dennis Hill
(Posted on 11/2/07)

Comments: I hate to recommend anything as overpriced as this unit... Even imported from Germany, if you consider the engineering and manufacturing costs $220 is still steep. But, for circulation and wave making, it's hard to beat. I tried 3 different wavemakers and numerous powerheads before finally plunking down the $$ and becoming fully satisfied. Good flow and current dispersion, and it's relatively tiny when you consider the output. Works flawlessly with the Tunze multi-controller. It very well may be worth the price tag.

- Product Review by Glenn Ritter
(Posted on 10/20/07)

Comments: I put 2 6025's in my 40g reef tank to add circulation for SPS. These are quite powerful little pumps. The tabs that hold the pump to the magnet are a bit thin, but if you take your time putting them together it's not a problem. I didn't break any of them on either pump. Overall, I think these are excellent little pumps, and highly recommend them.

Comments: These pumps are unbeatable for the price. They come with their own magnet holder and are fully maneuverable with the ball-in-bracket design. There is also a small modification that can be made that makes these pumps even more worth the value--and it doesn't even void Tunze's warranty! I am very pleased with these pumps!

"Only 3 stars but...."
- Product Review by Brian Wallace
(Posted on 10/3/07)

Comments: I wish there were more then one rating system. The pump performs at 5 stars, but I only gave the pump 3 stars. At this pice, the pump should perform and be built with quality. There are several small design flaws, 2 halves hardly hold together, had to file down back half to fit correctly over cord. Small items but disappointing to see on a premium pump.

- Product Review by Allen Yamaoka

Comments: I put 2 of these in my 60 gallon reef tank. They provide a nice flow are fairly small so they don't stick out so much. Others that I have had are so big they look funny in my small tank.

On one of them the cover fits a little loose and will fall off easily and the other one sometimes makes a lot of noise when it starts up. I have to unplug and plug it in a couple of times. Eventually it will run quietly.

Overall, I like them.

"Great pump, but weak clip"
- Product Review by Arthur Areyan
(Posted on 9/18/07)
-
Comments: Purchased two of these little pumps about 7 months ago. I really like their steady output and the design seemed adequate. However, one of the pumps recently came loose from its clip. Turns out the clip developed hairline fractures on both sides which let the pump slip out. The second clip looks better, but I see one tiny fracture already. Will contact Tunze to see what my options are.

"6025 and 6045"
- Product Review by Susana Swett
(Posted on 9/18/07)

Comments: Great pump, but cheaply made. The little teeth that hold the magnet holders on break easily. Have had mine for few months and already had to order replacement parts. They dont fit together too great either. Have 6045's and 6025's. Ordered replacement parts for both. They stop running also after a while and you have to take them out and clean them, soak them in vinegar. Ive cleaned mine three times in about 5 months.

"good flow, but quality issues"
- Product Review by Kamal A Rajan
(Posted on 9/17/07)

Comments: great flow... however, i use a wave maker with it and it makes a super loud clankity noise when it first comes on. Then the arm that connects to the magnet, one of the pieces chipped off so it barely holds on to it. Also be aware that if you use a magnetic algae cleaner, it will stick to the tunze magnet and you have to stick your hand in there to get it off, which defeats the purpose of a magnetic algae cleaner...

"Trouble with Turbelle 6025"
- Product Review by Karen Brim
(Posted on 9/10/07)
-
Comments: I at least have had terrible luck with these pumps. The bracket is attached to the magnetic holder by incredibly tiny plastic tabs which quickly break off after being exposed to the pump's vibration and to salt water. The pump works ok, but now you're left jerry-rigging an attachment to the magnetic holder. Not something which should happen on a $60 pump.

This seems like an obvious design oversight, and I am surprised to see it in any product, much less from a respected vendor like Tunze.

"Love it"
- Product Review by John Sincavage
(Posted on 8/24/07)

Comments: Works great!!!

I built my own MJMOD. It worked fine but:

1. The tunze has a smaller footprint. I have a 65 so size does matter.

2. The mjmod isn't variable. Its an AC motor, so its either on or off. The tunze works great with the 7095 controller. I can set it to pulse mode and it creates nice wave like currents.

3. This thing is quiet!!! Its barely audible. The mjmod was LOUD!!!

Tunze aren't cheap. But as they say, "you get what you pay for."

You could buy tunze once or some cheap brand that you'll be replacing sooner then later.

Comments: Used several pumps in the past, love the magnet holder the pump provides. A++. I coupled it with a Tunze 7091 controller to simulate wave motion. Fish and corals love it!! While the pump seems to be high in price, you get what you pay for. Currently used on a 30 gallon long tank with the voltage set to 12v. Had to wait nearly 6 months for this pump to be stocked, but it was worth the wait. Tunze pumps are the best hands down.

"Fragile Metal Pole"
- Product Review by Jacob Anderson
(Posted on 8/21/07)
-
Comments: The tunze pump is great and silent when it doesn't fail. The little metal pole that holds the propeller in place breaks easily. It broke on me after about 1 year of service. It makes quite a bit of clatter when broken. This was in a 16 gallon nanoreef with temp between 75 F and 82 F. No corrosion on the metal pole, just snapped off at the bottom where it joined the plastic base.

Great magnets that hang it anywhere on the tank.

Comments: Great compact design. Great idea of 360 degree direction of flow. Made modification to increase flow to 1000gph approx. Comes with magnet unlike the larger Tunzes. Should have purchased the 6055. Even with the modification the pump feels very weak. Don't buy pump unless your using it on a tank 30 gallons or less.

"tunze nanostream 6025"
- Product Review by J Nicholas Boyd
(Posted on 8/2/07)

Comments: I run 2 6000 on a 7095 controller and based on that I decided on the 6025 for a new nano that shares the same sump as my main tank. I had purchased another brands new nanostream-like powerhead weeks before. I purchased the naonostream hoping to eliminate the other brand stopping and making noise and because there was a rumor that it leaked electricity.

I love the 6025 as I do all tunze products and would recommend it to anyone needing this rated gph powerhead.
