ViaAqua Titanium 50 Watt 13 Gallon Aquarium Heater Reviews

"Reliable" - Product Review by Philip Schlanger (Posted on 8/13/12)

Excellent!

Comments: I loved these heaters. They work for a long time and are accurate for a very long time (I always use a reef controller, but its nice to see these being accurate for years). I have had these outlast all other heaters that I have purchased!

Great!

Comments: I like this heater so far but I only had it for a couple of days. My thermometer reads a differant temperature so still tweaking it till it's correct. I was hoping the built in thermometer would be a bit more accurate but with two thermometers on each end of the tank it's not a big deal. I like it. My last heater got stuck and tank temperature got so high I lost some fish by the time I got home. Hope this one is more reliable! Only time will tell.

Excellent!

Comments: We've only had this in our 55gal Cichild tank for 3 weeks, but so far it has maintained the temperature within 1/2 degree constanly & only cycles a few times per hour.
My only concern is the thermostat/controller needs set to 80 deg F to keep the opposite end thermomter at 77 deg F - not sure which is more accurate, but the tank temp is constant & the fish seem happy. Titanium tube looks good - only complaint would be controller has wires out both ends so hung on the wall the power cord makes it hang crooked. So far so good!

"Rock Solid" - Product Review by Agrippa Kissam (Posted on 2/24/12)

Excellent!

Comments: I have a 300w in my 47g DT and a 100w in my 10g QT. I will soon order a replacement 300w, not because mine failed, but after 2 years of service I need a new one just on principle. Both units have been rock solid and amazingly accurate.

Unsatisfactory

Comments: This heater corroded, then stopped working shortly after the manufacturers warranty ended. I asked the manufacturer to replace it anyway, and they wouldn't help out.

"So Far...So Good" - Product Review by Barbie Nichols (Posted on 1/25/12)

Great!

Comments: Been fishkeeping 50 years, and I could tell you about almost every heater ever made. I decieded to give this a try. Not wanting to get too techie, I passed on the new Fluval Series E. (Of course being retired and on a budget helped in reaching that decision.)

I have two of these Via Aqua heaters and they are both exactly 1.5 degrees off of a very acurate thermometer. That said, it keeps the water very stable at + or - .5 degrees. I set them to match my acurate thermometers and so far so good.

Make sure you have them in a good flow area.

I am pleased so far. I simply will not put my hands in the aquarium to adjust heaters. I have always used controllers on my reef set ups. But when we moved cross country I had to sell my 250 gallon reef tank and begin anew. Now downsized and needing all new equiptment these appealed to me.

These heaters I would say are just fine (depending on endurance which has yet to be proven) for beginners and intermediates.
