The aquarium is to fish as the terrarium is to
reptiles. Both are glass or acrylic tanks, and both serve as homes to pets. And just like the aquarium, a terrarium needs its own lighting and heating system, too. Reptiles, in particular, are often found in the tropics, so they are used to hotter climates and brighter sunshine. If you have pet reptiles placed in terrariums, you should ensure that they get all the sunshine they need, even if it`s just simulated.
To have space for lamps and heaters, you will need the Zoo Laboratories Slider Reptile Hood from
Pet Store. This hood has sockets mounted vertically on it, and these sockets can accommodate light bulbs and heat emitters. The hood has up to three sockets that can hold 150-watt incandescent bulbs, and also a fluorescent fixture that can hold a UVB lamp.
The whole hood is made of steel, colored back and finished with powder coating. It is a foot wide, big enough to accommodate the sockets from which necessary accessories can hang.
Aside fro those features, the Zoo Laboratories Slider Reptile Hood also has an aluminum reflector to increase and maximize UVB penetration. It also has grounded receptacles for ornamental additions such as waterfalls and rock heaters.
The "King" of All Reptile Hoods! The Slider Reptile Hood accommodates spot of flood bulbs and Ceramic Heat Emitters in its vertically mounted sockets. Each hood has two or three incandescent sockets rated up to 150 watts each, as well as a fluorescent fixture for a UVB emitting lamp. The black powder-coated steel hoods are 12" wide and are available for terrariums 24", 30", 36", and 48" in length. Each socket/fixture has its own rocker switch for independent light selection. Other features include an aluminum reflector for increased UVB penetration, and an internally grounded receptacle for rock heaters, waterfalls, or other in tank accessories.
