Comments: I had a very difficult time getting this high rise put together for my critter. When I received the high-rise, the hooks that connected the outside pieces together were bent in a way that made it impossible to put together without using pliers, and one broke off before I even got that far. I eventually had to use baling wire to make sure that the structure was secure and that my hamster couldn't squeeze his way out. The shelves were just as frustrating to put in. It took two of us, pliers, and more baling wire to get those put in. The hooks that connect the shelves would not fit between the wires on the outside, there were a couple hooks that were bent in such a way that I couldn't get the shelves to fit on the correct wire on the outside so they were crooked. We used the pliers to straighten the hooks, place the shelves, and then secured the shelves by bending the hooks back into a hook shape with the wires and, just to be safe, tying everything with more baling wire. I was so close to throwing this in the box it came in and sending it back. It took us about 45 minutes and a lot of frustration to get this put together. Aside from all that, it's a decent product. Pros: Hamster has more room to play I have more room to supply my hamster with toys He loves to climb around on the bars It's got an opening at the top for easy access without having to remove the whole thing from the tank The high rise is removable without having to disassemble it which makes cleaning a breeze Cons Extremely frustrating to put together The wire coating comes off very easily, you can already see the bare wire around the latch at the top opening on mine, I've only been using this for a week My hamster chews the wire; you run this risk when you use any wire product, but he's probably ingesting the powder coating, which concerns me too.

Comments: I got this as a second home for my hamster so I can leave one at home and one at school and I already had the aquarium. It was a little bit difficult to put together. The hooks kept hooking in the wrong place and one of them actually popped off. Some of the wires came bent and it didn't seem to fit together exactly right. After getting the outside walls put together, which is easy enough, you have to maneuver the inside platforms and ladders and get it just perfect or start all over again. When I thought I had it put together the right way and all set up, I put my hamster in it. She explored all around and decided that easier than walking down the long ladder to the first floor would be JUMPING OFF from the middle platform. After about three or four times of her landing on her head and her back I decided that that probably shouldn't be occurring. I took it all apart all over again and reconfigured it to make it easier for her to go down the ladder. Now she doesn't jump anymore. It's a great home for my hammy now that it's all put together. I can really see her and find her in her cage, much easier than the purple and green cage we had before. I don't know if the wire hurts her feet but I may cover it if it seems like she's avoiding the top levels. It might also be hard to lure your hamster out of the top little trap door that doesn't shut very tightly. I've been taking the cover off at the middle part to get my hammy out. It seems large enough for her with the extra levels and it will be great in the classroom where my students just observe her for now. I don't know if it would be large enough for other small mammals but my Syrian Hamster seems comfortable in it at the moment.
